The History Of History

I found the time to complete a project that was due soon, it was called 'The history of history'. It was sent to me by the University of Iowa, where I graduated from. A class of undergraduate history majors is working on documenting the history of the department and its former faculty, students, culture, and traditions. As part of a final project this semester, they are compiling a 'Memory book' which includes stories and reflections from history alumni about their time at Iowa. I wrote just over two pages. For those who know me best, it likely comes as no surprise how I wrote this much. I even said so in the writing I sent. In the attachment I included a copy of my business card, including where to find the blog. I spoke of the dorm buildings I lived in, and places where I worked at while at the University. I spoke of finding the Writer's Walk of Fame in downtown Iowa City, and how I am pleased that Emerson Hough is one of the writers honored.
We did Wii dancing at work near the end of the day. This time we had spectators near the end of the time allotment, guess they didn't feel like dancing. 'Call me' by Blondie was one of the songs we danced to. Others we danced to included a song with lyrics about 'Shake it like a polaroid picture'- and 'Crazy, oh-oh'. The event coordinator thought the latter was by Beyonce Knowles though the version listed the performer as 'Studio musicians'. When I arrived she was dancing to 'Viva Las Vegas' by Elvis Presley.
At the comedy club tonight, the most notable thing had to be a comic who told one joke and left. The punch line was 'Don't fence me in'. The 'Rut-roh' comic was MC. The bus fare comic did the cat food and condoms joke, and added to it some. The school bouncer comic did one about being hassled by a bouncer at a nightclub about wearing a coat. I can take it off. Auto-correct did the one about why she doesn't like kids. The godmother did ones about doing the polar plunge, as well as acronyms. I guess somebody didn't understand what 'MBA' meant. The Kentucky native did ones about attending a Catholic wedding, picnics, mosquitoes, and discovering music like REO Speed-wagon. The university accountant did ones about getting carded at the library, and 'That's so raven'. The bartender did one about Nyquil.

One Dollar Winner

I got a scratch lottery ticket out of a machine this weekend at the grocery store. It was a one dollar winner. So I turned it in at a convenience store in the skyway, and asked for another ticket. It was also a one dollar winner. So I turned in the second ticket earlier today, and asked for a third ticket. I turned it in at a different place than Monday. And it was also a one dollar winner! When I have the time I will take care of the third ticket, though I expect to lunch with a colleague tomorrow so it will have to wait. It was postponed from today, and I didn't bring my lunch so I ate in the skyway. My colleague asked to be forgiven and said she needed to pick up product for the coffee shop. I have to ask further about this as I understood the shop to be for sale. I plan on telling her it would be shallow of me if I couldn't forgive her. I said sometimes baseball games are rained out, no big deal. In fact, the last two Twins games have been rained out.
It was a very competitive night at the comedy club with the contest. Three advanced as there was a tie for second. It was no surprise when I saw one of the winners, who did a joke about a drug dealer. I spoke with one contestant, the tall girl who is a nursing assistant, after the show. I had seen her at a show last week but we didn't speak then. It had been a while since we had spoke. I said I hope to see you again at the clubs real soon, a wish I have for all of my comedian friends. The show closer was a guy wearing a Boston Red Sox hat and had a long beard. He did a joke about getting a double deposit on his last check after he was fired from a job at a mortgage company.

New Employee Breakfast Tray

There was a new employee in my area, and she brought in a breakfast tray with various pastries on it. This was a fairly big tray, and not much had been eaten but I did have two items. After a while my boss spoke of it to passers-by from other departments in hopes of more of it getting eaten. Near the end of the day it looked like half of it was left so it looks like this will be repeated.
At the comedy club tonight, I saw both the sub teacher and ex-TSA comic much like I did the previous day while recording the radio show. The Hillary Clinton look-alike did one about trying to get out of a DUI. The resistable comic did a joke about how her dad would like a free cremation. The Yemen native did the one about a stolen bill. I was tired and I did nod off during the show, but I woke up in time to see more of my friends. The Worthington native did the one about the biker bar and about 'Fight or flight'- since he has anxieties. The Tetris comic did one about his coat, which he was wearing. It was a nice P-coat, but a different color than mine. When I asked for the 'Pump and Munch' joke he did give me a shout out but said he can't do the joke. The Maryland native did one about people calling him Urkel, a TV show character. The sub teacher did one about the problems of political correctness, when women say they don't want to the objectified. The bathtub comic did one about visiting Colorado, and touring the Coors brewery. Another one was about jaywalking and marijuana in that state. The Perkins employee did one about how he hung up on his boss, then went back to bed. And he did one about visiting family in Kansas. The 'Extra murder' comic was show closer, and brought back the 'First world problem' joke, a good one. I also liked hearing the North Dakota joke- arrive a guest, leave a legend. And he did the one about his check engine light, as well as visiting a strip club.

Mosaic Cafe, Minneapolis

This afternoon I went to another Vietnam event, readings by three different writers. It was my first time at this venue, the Mosaic CafĂ© in Minneapolis. Though the neighborhood looked familiar due to the big Target sign nearby. I had been to Patrick's Cabaret, and this was across the street. The first speaker spoke of meeting John Wayne, and his dead shrink.
I was double-booked today, as I made it over to Eden Prairie for a recording for a radio show which will air in a week. It was hosted by the sub teacher, and the other guest was the ex-TSA comic. I was thankful to be on the show, and said so when the hour was complete. I made many pop-culture references when we covered multiple subjects. I did take some pictures while there, like of an 'On the air' sign as well as the welcome sign seen from the road. Due to the rain and construction detours, I needed plenty of time to get from the first event to the second. This included finding my lunch
somewhere, and I did at Bobby and Steve's but not the Godfather's Pizza that I like. You go with what is available, and I got the chicken and mashed potatoes. I ate it upstairs before I was on my way again, can't eat it in my car like the pizza.
In the evening I watched The Simpsons, an episode about breeding horses. Then I finished up reading the papers from the month of September, but I had to rewrite my notes from the first 3 weeks of the month as I couldn't read all of them well enough. There was a cartoon about the Minnesota Orchestra labor dispute. The governor's aunt passed. Dennis Rodman made a visit to North Korea, and Cretin football was on ESPN. I liked an article about the Silver Dome Ballroom in Wisconsin. Twitter is going public. Pope Frank in an interview castigated 'Small rules' and said the Catholic Church is 'Obsessed' with abortion, gay marriage, and contraception. The Jeff Trevino murder trial began. Dayton and Rybak were in accord to their message to the orchestra: talk. Doubts persist for the Vikings stadium deal. There was a cartoon about the government shutdown default, till we get our way, the Tea Party. The Vikings are in London, and Ferentz is trying to return the Iowa Hawkeyes football team to better days.
Finally there is the funny columnist. there was a poll for mayor, will they drop into a principal's office now and then and pop them on the nose, just to get his attention. Cats that kill a billion birds a year are nothing to crow about. Also feral crows and a no-corpse policy for the trash. It really made me laugh when he spoke of hanging a crow- getting a jump on Halloween. Caw! Ha-ha. A sign for the times- brother, can you spare a building? He buried a hobo in the basement. Then it's art, when it's old. When it's something we wish we'd saved. Good signs are landmarks. Avoiding the issue doesn't make it go away. It was about a book called 'Eleanor and Park' by Rainbow Russell. It was banned due to the swearing in it. But he did allude to how this usually backfires, as banning something tends to make it even more popular. And he said anyone who bans it will likely be mentioned with the book during Banned Books Week.

Costumed Pirate

I went to the Twins baseball game against Detroit this afternoon. The Twins won 5-3, despite trailing 2-0 in the first inning. They tied the score in the 5th before they got a hit, but benefited from walks. Their first hit gave them the lead. Notable was seeing somebody in my section walking up the steps, who had a pirate costume on. I kept saying 'Arrrr!' like the sea captain on The Simpsons. I did get a picture from my seat, and he posed with others in the aisle. I was sitting next to somebody who was wearing a hospital mask, who took it off only to eat or drink. After having a hot dog at the Gopher baseball game last night I thought about having something else today. But I didn't feel like walking all over creation to see who had pizza, which may have been more than the hot dog. So I got a hot dog and chips and a soft drink at the concession stand under my section.
I did have time to get things done before getting on the light rail line to the game. I needed to renew the license plates on my car so I went to the Sears store on Rice Street in St. Paul. It didn't take long and I liked getting some souvenirs while there. They had a business card as well as a keychain, so I got both. The keychain looked like a Minnesota license plate. Then it was on to the antique shop, where I got more postcards. I still haven't run out of ideas, by any means. I pulled out 30 postcards to look at, but knew I had to pare it down some more. So I picked ten of these. Two were from Iowa, the State Capitol in Des Moines and the University Hospital in Iowa City. The former was postally used in 1911. One was from Minnesota, the Government Dam and Locks and Ford Bridge in Minneapolis. Two were from Michigan, tulips in the town known as Holland along with a third one from Mackinac Island. One was from Mount Vernon, George Washington's home. Two were from New York City, the Pan-Am Airlines building with Grand Central station in the background along with the RCA building in Rockefeller Center. One was from Pennsylvania, a restaurant in Gettysburg which mentions a statue of General Eisenhower being nearby. The final one was of the Palace of Arts at the British Empire Exhibition, in Wembley. I know this is a suburb of London, the capital city. Now it means looking up this event online to see what I can find. At the outset I am thinking this may be somewhat like the World's Fairs I have collected postcards of.
After the game I fell asleep after I got home, while watching the news. I listened to a friend's radio show, then got groceries. As expected, I knew both of the guests. One was the Netflix comic, the other I know for wearing certain hats. Sometimes it is a Minnesota Twins hat, sometimes a Black Flag hat, as in the music group. The first subject covered was kids as young as age 9 married in Iraq. A South Carolina state senator said homosexuality is 'Not natural'- and got a one-woman show about it canceled at a university. There was something about a papyrus, a wife of Jesus. It was called 'Rife for a Monty Python skit'. A question was asked about why women aren't allowed to be priests. Well they of course are in some religious orders, but not the Catholic Church. I heard a toilet flush during the show. Then one thing was said that I agreed with- the best thing to say to some is that you're not going to listen to what I have to say. This is true for some who so strongly believe what they do. The final subject was the Tennessee Senate voting to bring back electrocution as a form of capital punishment.

Little Less Conversation, Elvis Presley

I went to a college baseball game tonight, the Minnesota Gophers were playing Penn State. During a conference at the mound the organist played 'Little Less Conversation' by Elvis Presley, and I kept laughing as I knew the organist picked a good one! It reminded me of hearing 'We can work it out' by the Beatles at a White Sox game in Chicago in 1990, when the White Sox manager was arguing with the umpire.
I arrived late for the game but it was hard to find parking and the game started before 7pm. I ended
up parking about 7 blocks away from the venue. I arrived in the second inning but it was still no score. Minnesota went ahead on a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd. Penn State tied it with some 'Little ball' in the top of the 3rd. Minnesota went ahead 2-1 with a sacrifice fly in the 4th, and went on to win by this same score, 2-1. The announced crowd was sparse, 417. But I am used to seeing this at most college games I've attended, outside of the College World Series in Omaha of course. It was a quick game due to the low scoring, just under 2 hours.
I liked some of the other songs played between innings. One of them was Pitbull saying 'Swing your partner round and round', I think it is called 'Timber'. Another song spoke of somebody being a piece like Gershwin. At the game Goldy, the Gopher mascot, pointed at my Iowa Hawkeye shirt after i said 'Hi'. My greeting was basically saying 'What do you want?' in terms of voice tone. Though I still laughed. After the game I found a cat walk going over a railroad yard, while I was walking back to my car. I got a picture of it, but didn't walk on it. I was also stopped by a cop, who said I had pulled out in front of him at an intersection near the venue. I was asked if I had anything in my jacket, I said just a camera and presented it as proof. He looked at my license and I was let off with a warning. I said thank you, then the cop car left before I did.
I liked getting caught up with the letters at work. In the early afternoon we had cake again, this time for a colleague who is retiring next week. She spoke of having a 'Bucket list' she hopes to complete now. It sounded like one of these things is skydiving. I spoke of what I recalled about my dad's retirement from the Maytag plant. He got to keep the last washing machine part he made, and decided to retire at the end of the calendar year, just 3 months after he became eligible. This colleague said her last day is Wednesday since it is the final day of the month- easier to apply for benefits this way. At midday I got some pictures at a construction site, the Saints baseball stadium. I noticed there were a few places where I could go up a little higher to get a better view inside.

Last Nite, The Strokes

I walked through the skyway this morning before going to work and heard a song beginning as I passed by Jimmy John's sandwiches. I knew the first lyric was 'Last Night', but wanted to stay for the next one as it would yield more clues when searching online. The song was 'Last Nite' by The Strokes. I think this was another one that was part of the radio ad on TV when I lived in suburban Chicago, along with 'The Middle' by Jimmy Eat World.
I went to a comedy show and performed tonight, and saw a colleague from my job after I had performed both comedy and karaoke. For the song I chose 'Muzzle' by Smashing Pumpkins. The International Falls native was MC and spoke of my blog when introducing me. Saw plenty of comics tonight, like the ex-TSA agent, the bus fare comic, and one I will call the preschool teacher. she spoke of her karaoke song while doing her comedy set.
A severe weather warning happened at work as I was about to get soup heated up for lunch. There was a delay of about 10 minutes, then an all-clear, and by then I decided to go into the skyway and had an Arby's fish sandwich. I said to my boss's boss how we have now had our excitement for the day.

Peach Cobbler Cookies

I had a craving after being at the comedy club tonight, so I went to the grocery store. It was mainly for microwave popcorn and string cheese, but I also got some peach cobbler cookies. In many ways it is a running joke going back to college, where I nearly ran over my roommate after he announced the peach cobbler was ready.
I was tired so it was hard to stay attentive at the comedy club, especially near the end when I experienced some micro-sleep. The Kentucky native was show closer, he did jokes about phobias. The neck tattoo comic did one about not liking kids and how he uses Skittles to take care of it. The godmother did one about having to see neighbors again since it is spring. I also liked hearing a new one about her bucket list, a new twist on this idea. The barber did one about being addicted to 'Candy Crush', which sounded like a video game.
We are still doing an activity during the time allotment for Wii dancing, but it is walking. Since it was raining this afternoon we did walking through the skyway. I pointed out two convenience stores I had shopped at earlier today. One was for some orange juice and a breakfast bar in the morning, the other was for postcards at midday. I got two postcards, one of Minneapolis- the Stone Arch Bridge- and the other was St. Paul- the skyline in the evening.

Doubleday Field, Cooperstown

One E-bay order arrived today, it was the postcard of Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. In my visit there in 2005 I just saw the museum but not the field. I have definitely thought about baseball often lately, proven in the orders I have placed. I did finally forward the claim form to the Bill Me Later dispute department about the two orders of Snoopy stamps from Hong Kong that did not arrive. Wasn't that hard to do when it topped my priority list, attach the completed claim form and send the email.
I did notify a movie friend, whom I met at the screening of 'Labor Day', how I will do my best to attend his planned outing with movie friends at a drive-in this summer. I said I hadn't been to a drive-in theater in a while and I see it as something to write about. I was non-committal at first, just last week, as I spoke of 'Baseball and Museum Season' being busy for me. But if it means picking another weekend to do my annual visit to St. Louis, I can do that as no travel reservations have been made just yet.  I printed a form that listed the drive-ins found in Minnesota, as I wanted to do more long-range planning. I had to list events I would like to attend, such as Kaposia Days in South St. Paul, to see if the logistics work for everything I would like to do. So far so good, no conflicts I am aware of at this point.
Tonight was another edition of the contest at the comedy club. I saw how three comedians did well, but just the top two advance to the semifinals. The rapper comic was the leadoff, and the 'Resistable'
comic along with Turtle Check advanced. The former did one about her boyfriend being like a waterbed. The latter did one about having OBCD, and food recipes being like porn. One comic ran the light, but I didn't know who he was at all. I got some comments about the patriotic shirt I was wearing, something I am used to by now.

Baseball In Canada

There were plenty of E-bay orders that arrived today, 6 in all. Two were Charlie Brown and Snoopy trading cards, two were World's Fair postcards. One was the Yellowstone ad with an Emerson Hough quote on it. Finally, a first day cover honoring baseball in Canada. It was from 1988, the 150th anniversary of the first game, in that nation. I liked seeing the logos for both Canadian teams at the time, the Expos and Blue Jays. What I liked just as much was the hockey stamps on the envelope, it helps with my stamp collection. The trading cards arrived from Great Britain, Charlie Brown playing baseball and Snoopy in a patriotic outfit.
At the comedy club, I liked how I could speak about more than just comedy with one of them tonight. It was the opera singer, after the show. We discussed music after he told me about being in a band. He did the cooking with flax seeds joke. The neck tattoo comic did the 'show of guns' joke and his dog's name, a pit bull. The 'Extra murder' comic did one about Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie where he goes under cover. The Mason City native did one about bank employees asking about plans for the weekend.  The Worthington native did hear how I listened to his CD over the weekend, and did the 'El Camino therapist' joke. The bathtub comic did one about how Valleyfair should be open year round. The Tetris comic did one about decades having wars and sex, I liked it when he said something about 'stop having fun'. The bus fare comic did one about somebody buying cat food and condoms. Another was about fans of the music group Insane Clown Posse. The sub teacher did one about going to visit his uber-religious parents for Easter. The school bouncer did the one about the woman having a 100th birthday party at his show.

Marie Schmidt Bremer Home

I found myself over by the former Schmidt brewery in St. Paul and told myself I hadn't taken a good look at the house across the street. It is the Marie Schmidt Bremer home. There is a plate at the house stating it was given to a foundation in memory of their mother. I did find an entrance to this place and noticed something before going inside, a posting about how smoking is only allowed at the gazebo. Before I spoke with the employee on duty I saw postings next to the office making mention of narcotics and of Dorothy Day. I know this is the name on another facility, closer to downtown. I was informed it is a halfway house, so of course public tours are not available. But I am thankful I found out as much as I did.
Before I checked out this house I liked getting a good look at the former brewery as there is more activity there now, artist lofts. All I found was a secured entrance, so I stayed outside and got pictures I could get now that I am able to get closer. One was of the welcome sign directing people to the Rathskeller, though it is still behind a fence so of course not open to the public. After I parked my car I saw somebody who was also there for pictures. We spoke for a little while and I gave her my business card after I said I write a blog and do comedy. The mention of comedy led to the story of an elderly woman who hated obese people.
The day had events early on, starting with an Easter buffet at the Glockenspiel restaurant in St. Paul. I liked seeing deviled eggs as part of the buffet. After I had eaten I was given a flyer about another event there coming soon, 'May Fest'. I am still connecting it to New Ulm since I enjoy going there for Oktoberfest. Then it was on to church services, there was a brass prelude that I liked. An Easter egg hunt was scheduled for after the service, and I noticed the eggs were already placed throughout the sanctuary. What was funny to me was seeing magnifying glasses as well.
I had another match from online dating ask me how I got started in comedy, and as usual I spoke of the 2 funerals and a wedding in the same year. It led to me finding a song on Youtube, 'Breathe' by Anna Nalick. This song nailed how I felt about doing comedy, and writing. About feeling naked in front of the crowd, because these words are my diary screaming out loud.

Grant's Tomb

I bought some more postcards at an antique place near downtown St. Paul this afternoon, 9 in all. One of them was of Riverside Church and Grant's Tomb in New York City. It reminded me of the stale joke about who is buried in Grant's Tomb. I like how I haven't run out of ideas just yet at this place. But there are so many cards to look at there, and in some cases one might be more appealing at a later time since I want to stick to a budget. There was another one from New York City, it is of the United Nations member flags. I did get the two on my list, out of three. I thought about getting some that are locked up but those can wait, especially when they cost more. Many of these I am getting for a dollar or less, and I prefer volume at this point. The two on my list that I bought were of the Schlitz Assembly in Milwaukee, and a folio from Expo 74 in Spokane, Washington- a World's Fair. The one from Minnesota was of the gates at Como Park in St. Paul. Near the Schlitz card I liked finding one of an Eastern Airlines plane flying over Miami Beach. I picked up another one of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, this time of the entrance. Another card is of the patriot's monument in Lexington,MA. And the final one is patriotic, babies with their first flag at the Bicentennial. Then after getting shoes at the Kohl's in Maplewood Mall I went to a Goodwill and got another photo album for more postcards. It ended up replacing one with a bad spine, and it holds more photos than the previous one. And two more E-bay orders arrived, both postcards. One was of the Charlie Brown comic strip being on display at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. Another was from the Chicago World's Fair, site of the city's first settlement, where Jean Du Sable lived. Before I got started today I finished up with getting all of the baseball cards in binders. I destroyed 4 more that were duplicates- a total of 9, out of 100.
I went to a friend's comedy show tonight, the Worthington native was headliner. I knew many of the other performers as well. The 'Extra murder' comic and the Perkins employee did guest sets. I liked hearing the former do one about getting a second cellphone.  The latter did the one about his mom cashing checks for him. The feature act was the 'Theme park/Trailer park' comic. With the headliner, I liked hearing ones about breaking up via carrier pigeon and a more recent one about the El Camino therapist, a longer version of the latter. Ones I hadn't heard before but liked were the biker bar and saying he was musician Eric Church's brother. I got his CD after the show and a photo as well, so he will be added to the 'Ring of Honor'. I knew the MC as well, he did ones about a sticky mousetrap and hiding birth control pills in his lady's food.

Our Lady Of Guadalupe Enchiladas

I wanted to go to a fish fry tonight after work but it was hard to find one since it is Good Friday. To complete the Lenten season I decided to select a church as the place to eat this time. What I found was the Our Lady of Guadalupe church in St. Paul, having an enchilada dinner. It may not have been fish but I still liked it. There were plenty of photos on display on easels in the middle of the room. I got a picture of the banner on the wall advertising the event. There of course was more outside so I got pictures of these as well. I got there about 10 minutes before they were scheduled to stop serving. At first I thought the plastic cup they gave me was for drinking out of- it wasn't. It had a number on it and was for the servers to know where to deliver the food when it is ready. I was drinking a can of Coca-Cola, they were out of Sprite, so I didn't need to drink out of a cup anyway.
More E-bay orders arrived, one of these orders was of three postcards. Two were of spring training stadiums in Florida- Tampa and St. Petersburg- and the third was from Terre Haute, Indiana. When I researched the Terre Haute stadium this week the Wikipedia page said it is now the site now of a football stadium for the local college, Indiana State University. The arch features prominently on the postcard, and apparently that may be all that remains from the original structure. Another was of the Hamm's brewery in St. Paul. I know some of this complex still remains though it is no longer operating as a brewery. I also bought two postcards at midday at a convenience store in the skyway. One was a cartoon, a conversation between elephants where one said they were getting a personal trainer. The other is also a cartoon, it is of 'Cube land' in an office somewhere and the caption says 'The weekend is coming'. There were multiples of the former, but I seemed to find the only copy of the latter. I liked how I got these two for less than a dollar.
Tonight was also spent at the comedy club. I was running late and wanted to say hi to some comics before I went in to see the show so I didn't see anything of the lead-off comic. But I would have liked to since it was the bus fare comic. The Mr. Pibb comic did one about online banking. The 'Rut-roh' comic did one about the usage of the word ghetto. The Tetris comic did one about movies he cried at, reading from a list apparently since there were so many of them. The roller grill comic did some improvisational humor with his co-star from a Fringe Festival show. The 'Extra murder' comic did one about his check engine light, then contended with a heckler but I thought he handled himself well. My 'Bestie' did one about finding a dead body. After the show I liked to hear him talk about the business of doing comedy, and about subjects besides comedy. I hope to attend some of his upcoming shows. The 'Bathtub comic' did one about breakfast, reminding me of a joke from a TV commercial I saw as a kid but don't recall what restaurant it was from. And he did one about white water rafting.

MTS Centre, Winnipeg

More E-bay orders arrived. Two of them were Winnipeg postcards, of the football stadium and current hockey arena known as the MTS Centre. I made one visit to this town over a weekend to see a Van Halen concert but bought no postcards while there. Now I have four. The concert was at a different venue, Winnipeg Arena, and I don't have a postcard of it yet. I recall seeing a documentary movie called 'My Winnipeg' which showed the demolition of this arena and spoke of the new one being home to a minor-league team. But I knew full well it was built to attract a major-league team, and eventually it did. Hard to say when I will be there again. Another postcard that arrived was of St. Paul's Union Depot, a replacement for one in bad shape which had the same problem as others- bent across the middle part.
I watched 3 'Big Bang Theory' episodes tonight. The syndicated rerun was one where Raj thought he was dating his phone. The prime time episodes were back to back, both reruns. The first was about Leonard wearing an itchy red sweater when Sheldon wanted to prove a point. Raj saw Lucy again, and I don't like the Lucy character as she is known for bailing on Raj. Penny felt the need to confront her. The second episode was one where Raj hosted a scavenger hunt, and it led to Howard and Amy bonding over Neil Diamond music.
It was a night of getting caught up on things. I called to activate a credit account I enrolled in after a recent car repair. I got stamps applied to a sheet, and finished sheet number seven. Many of these stamps I acquire from E-bay orders since I like to order postcards and these are on the envelopes the cards are usually sent in. Then eventually I got to the pack of 100 baseball cards I recently bought at a Walgreen. Not all of them were added to the album tonight, and 5 were destroyed since they were duplicates. This is still a low number, but higher than before. I am aware of how the more cards I get the more likely I will have some duplicates.
Not much was notable about work today, though our planned potluck for Friday was postponed but I hadn't decided yet what to bring. Our boss's boss, subbing for much of the week since my boss is in a training class at another site, said there will be pizza served Friday instead. Riding the bus home I was next to what was probably a teenage girl who said she liked her nails, they had glitter on them. She said she liked to take 'Selfies', and saw herself as photogenic. She said one of the pictures looked like a butt, though it wasn't. I didn't see it to know what it looked like to me.

Vera Pavlova

I am still going through my postcard collection. This includes free ones for advertising purposes. I noticed in one album how there were two from Poetry magazine, on one was a poem from Vera Pavlova called 'To converse with the greats'. On another was something attributed to Martin Luther. So I am moving the card with the Vera Pavlova poem to the office as that is what I do with things I don't want to destroy, especially if they are small collectible items like postcards. If I have two of something, then it still may get used or looked at when I am at the office as I spend enough time there. At the office today it was notable having a Health Ahead event in our game room. There was ice cream sandwiches available and information about how to meditate. In the nearby conference room there was chair massages, for 5 minutes, and I did have one of each.
One of the things prompting me to look at my postcard collection was 3 E-bay orders arriving. Replacement cards for Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequels, as well as Babe Ruth, arrived. Both were in bad shape, bent across the middle of the card. The other was of a sports arena in Winnipeg, Manitoba, called the Auditorium. It may have been a hockey venue they used before Winnipeg Arena opened in the 1950s. Winnipeg Arena is likely much better known as it is where the first version of the NHL's Jets played. I can tell the photo is from a while back since the flags in the background aren't Canadian maple leafs, but a mostly red flag with the British Union Jack in one corner.
It was an eventful evening at the comedy club. The 'Conga line' comic had to deal with a heckler, something about it being their birthday. She did very few jokes, if any, because of it, telling them to take the stage or shut up. I did see her after her set was done and asked if she was all right. She has done comedy for a while so I would like to think she can cope with it fine. The show closer was the Perkins employee, who said he wanted to break the record held by the school bouncer for longest set as show closer. But eventually he was told by the club owner to wrap it up. The sub teacher was the lead-off comic, doing more jokes about his relationship. What do you want for breakfast? was a newer one he has added to this theme. The godmother gave me a shout-out when I laughed at a joke about Christmas lights arranged in the shape of a Chevy logo. This was something she saw while visiting Iowa, my native state. The bathtub comic did a joke about his birthday party being at a roller skating rink. The Kentucky native did jokes about growing up Baptist, and being in a mental hospital. The International Falls native did one about having raccoons as pets. The Hillary Clinton look-alike did one about having a food baby, along with passing out while eating a sandwich. Auto-correct did one about why she doesn't like kids. The neck tattoo comic did one about his dog's name, a pit-bull he calls Huey Booboo.

Punk Rock Girl, Dead Milkmen

The opening round of the contest was happening at the comedy club tonight. After I got back from the show I saw a Facebook posting where I was tagged. Something about how if somebody doesn't like me, then their store needs some fixing. I said thank you I think, but a little lost about fixing stores. Found out it was a song reference, to 'Punk rock girl' by Dead Milkmen. I found it on Youtube right away and liked a reference to a comedian in it, Minnie Pearl. Actually she is mentioned twice, the second time as a baby name, the first as dressing like her. The Mason City native said one reference to a Beach Boys song is correct, as that band also did a version of 'California Dreaming'. Although he did not tag me or send the original message.
I saw a few comics perform at the contest tonight that I hadn't seen in a while. One of these I recall well from another club, performing while somebody else played 'Small world after all'. He does jokes about his jailbird dad. The other I liked tonight was the Palestine native, he did one about being profiled when flying to meet his lady in Australia after playing a video game. Neither one advanced, just two moved on to the semifinals out of 13 contestants if I'm not mistaken. There are 6 preliminary rounds, I can make it to most of them, all but the one that is the same night as a concert.
At work somebody did many of the letters before I got around to them, I sent them an email and said thank you. It was also a case of letting them know I can take it from here, still wanting to do some for the day. This was shortly after midday, and just two were waiting so I did them. No others arrived for the rest of the day. So I did take some time to do another project to stay occupied for the day, it was getting an entry ready for a writing contest. It was inspired by the weekend visit to the Minneapolis Art Institute.

Bull Durham, 8 Men Out

An E-bay order arrived, it included some baseball trading cards as well as stamps. Two of the stamps were of baseball movies, 'Bull Durham' and '8 Men Out'. I saw the former at the theater and the latter on video. I notified the seller how I got 10 of the 12 orders, all but the 2 postcards of stadiums.
At the comedy club tonight the Worthington native made 2 appearances. In his own set he was doing jokes about losing at Wimbledon and the El Camino therapist. He gave out free tickets to some people after the show. During the show closer's set, a tall and thin girl who does the 'Theme park/Trailer park' joke, he showed up as well. This was when he made mention of the free tickets. I understand he has been in California quite a bit lately, but he will be headlining this weekend so I hope to see one of his shows. I also said I was interested in getting one of his CDs, after finding out he has one. I already have 5 CDs done by my comedian friends, and some others may have them. It would also be a good time to get this comic in my 'ring of honor'.

Hairy Who, Chicago Imagists Movie

It was a busy day for events. I went to two movies at the MSP film festival, St. Anthony Main theater, but at the outset expected it to be just one. Hairy Who and the Chicago Imagists was the second movie I saw, after one volunteer heard me saying to another how I liked the Vivian Maier movie from the previous day since I like Chicago stories. I was informed how it had just started, and he could get me in free. Wasn't about to turn that down! It was about a group of artists that began in the 1960s. As a Lady Gaga fan I liked seeing Jeff Koons in it since he has worked with her. As a former suburbanite of course some references in it were familiar to me, like classes offered at the Art Institute as well as a visit to the Field Museum. Even liked mention of the NFL's Bears in it, since their nickname is 'Monsters of the Midway'. Also mentioned was pop art from New York, happening around the same time, and of course how it was led by Andy Warhol.
The first movie I saw was 'The Overnighters', about a preacher in the oil boom town of Williston, ND, letting transient workers stay at the church. He was there after the screening ended to answer questions, along with one of his daughters. I liked what he had to say about how there needs to be a distinction on sex offenders, as some of them are really dangerous but some are not. I lucked out on getting into this one since it was declared a sellout by the ticket office and I was directed to the rush line. I got in after it began and sat in the front row, as I was informed on the way in how one of the few remaining seats was there.
We are not done! The day started off with a visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, to see the Sacred exhibit so I could find inspiration for a writing contest. Three works of art were eligible, one was made of military dog tags. One was a Buddhist statue, where people were meditating. The third looked like a quilt and was mounted to a wall.
After I got back eventually I looked at my postcards again, wanting to arrange them better. I moved some of the recently purchased ones in the albums they belong as most are grouped by region. It led me to noticing how I had 6 postcards of baseball players. Two have a yellow background since they are of the Hall of Fame plaques. One was from the Mechanical Museum in San Francisco. One was at the World Series, where the player spoke with New York's mayor, LaGuardia. The 6 players are: Joe DiMaggio, Bob Feller, Hank Greenberg, Walter Johnson, Willie Mays, and Babe Ruth. I have found
out based on my E-bay searches for certain player postcards how one of their Hall of Fame plaque (if inducted) is usually available, even if other versions are not. All of these were superstars, so I am sure all of these players are inducted in the Hall.

Finding Vivian Maier Movie

This afternoon I went to see a documentary movie, called 'Finding Vivian Maier' in Edina. It was a good thing that I read the Friday paper before midday when trying to plan out the day and the weekend. She worked as a nanny for well-to-do families in Chicago. The description in the paper started off with saying John Maloof, a history buff, bought cases of undeveloped negatives at an auction house in 2007. I had to get past this term, I think of 'History buff' as being a little derogatory since I majored in the subject. I don't think they covered how these were available at the time, since it was later revealed how Vivian was still alive, but later died in 2009. Some of the photos were of herself. This movie was directed by Maloof, and by Charlie Siskel, film critic Gene Siskel's nephew. I liked seeing vintage photos from well-known Chicago businesses like Jewel grocery stores as well as Marshall Field's department stores. There was also some of talk show host Phil Donahue, as she briefly worked for Phil. Near the end was some from the stockyards. I have seen photos on Flickr of the stockyard gates, preserved after the stockyards closed, so it did look familiar. I like picking up souvenirs from art house movies, such as postcards. There wasn't one of the movie but where one could order prints of her photos at a place in Minneapolis.
I made it back to an antique shop and bought 10 postcards and 4 buttons. I wanted some more Winter Carnival buttons, I got 3 and the 4th was celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Metrodome. I got a good look at the postcards in a few boxes there. Most notable may be one from the Appalachian Exposition in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was postally used in 1910. I did find an entry about it online, and there was mention of another expo in this town the next year, 1911. Some others included a Longfellow quote how life is real and earnest. One said too busy to write, check items carefully. I found ones of the William Penn home in Philadelphia, and the Pentagon near the nation's capital. There was 2 from Chicago- Chinatown, as well as the Science and Industry Museum. Rounding it out was Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan, MSP airport when known as Wold-Chamberlain Field, and San Francisco cable cars. I liked how all of these items were a total of just under $20. But
it helped that some of the postcards were for under a dollar.

Bag Of Onions

When I was getting ready to leave to eat at a fish fry tonight, I saw a bag of onions near my home. Since this was odd I decided to get a picture of it. Right away for whatever reason it reminded me of a worksheet in some class in elementary school. It had a riddle. If you take off my skin, you will cry, and I will not. Onion was the answer.
At the comedy club tonight, I got a good look at the Simpsons video game now there. I played one game on it, I got Lisa. I did say upon arrival how I like what they've done to the place. The Tetris comic said his comedy started a riot the previous night. The 'Extra murder' comic did one about his check engine light, and I liked hearing the phone booth and phone book joke as well. The bathtub comic did one about roller coaster photos. The Worthington native did one about an El Camino therapist, and somebody with a tattoo that said 'Murder'. Notable was how he definitely ran the light. The pottery barn comic brought back his wedding ceremony joke since he now has gotten engaged. The university accountant is adding to the one about her mom shopping at thrift stores, one of the items bought was a leopard print skirt. The hipster plantation owner performed as well, and after the show I was impressed with what was in his sketch book. I did say 'Those are pretty good'. Hard to remember them all, but the last one was of candle holders.
I did order some more postage stamps, postcards, and trading cards on E-bay tonight, actually had to bid on them but was the only bidder on all 7 items. All of them were baseball related. One E-bay order arrived, it was the real photo postcard of the Maytag Bowl in my hometown. It goes well with the one of the Maytag Pool, which is in the same park.
I really liked the fish fry I went to tonight, it was at Glockenspiel in St. Paul. I had to think of what places had it running past 7pm. I had a beer at the bar and ordered my food there as the rest of the seating area was full. I said I should make it there more often as it reminded me of my annual visits to New Ulm for Oktoberfest. What really helped was having live music, with tuba and accordion players doing polka songs. I think one of them was 'Roll Out The Barrel'. Good music is everywhere. Tonight I also liked hearing 'Diamonds' by Rihanna, as well as 'I'm on Fire' by Bruce Springsteen, on my car radio. The latter was while driving home after the show, and I made it a Facebook posting as it reminded me of a comedian friend's joke about the song. With the former it had some catchy lyrics like 'Shine bright like a diamond'. Of course hearing diamonds in the sky does make me think of a Beatles song, but this may be purely coincidental. Then there was 'The Middle' by Jimmy Eat World, on the jukebox at the bar. I stayed until the song was done. It had multiple meanings to me, as it is the only concert I have seen at First Avenue in Minneapolis nearly 3 years ago. I also shared how it was in a TV commercial advertising a radio station when I lived in suburban Chicago. It was memorable as the commercial depicts a dog shaking off water after a bath.

Achilles Had PTSD

I went to a Vietnam event this evening, much like back in November around Veterans Day. It was at the same venue, Macalester Plymouth church in St. Paul, on the Macalester College campus. The speaker was an M.D., also a book writer. He said Achilles had PTSD, I knew of course he meant Achilles from the Trojan War in ancient times. I went because of knowing the event coordinator from a writer organization. There will be another event later this month. Although this was at the same venue as before, it was nice to have it in the church sanctuary where there is more space than the fellowship hall. Also notable was hearing the speaker swearing a few times, a little unexpected in a place of worship. I also saw a man missing a left arm, wearing a shirt saying 'War, what it is good for? absolutely nothing'. I know this is also a song.
This of course meant I did not watch the prime time episode of Big Bang Theory tonight, but I did watch the syndicated rerun. It was the one where Leonard and Penny decide to do an activity as friends, dinner and a movie, and they end up bickering about their times as a couple. And Sheldon dealt with a blue jay. I also placed a few E-bay orders for some baseball stamps. It means adding to some of the series I already have, like one from the Middle East which honored baseball friendship between the USA and Japan. I had two of these, now I will have five. Another was baseball movies, from the African nation of Gambia.  Already had 8 and now it will be 10. And I found some from Turkmenistan, already had one and now it will be 3.

Thunderbird Hotel In Bloomington

I liked making a nice find on postcards at midday in the St. Paul skyway. I bought 6 postcards at a convenience store next to the Hosko gallery. One was of the Thunderbird Hotel in Bloomington, near the Mall of America. This is a place were I have performed comedy. The others were also nice to have. One was a map of the state of Minnesota. One was greetings from St. Paul, with images inside each letter. One was the outside of Target Center in Minneapolis. One had the St. Paul skyline on it, as well as the Metrodome. The final one was patriotic, with the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Bell on it. Had to wait until the employee returned, guess they were running the place by themselves. I was not alone on waiting. We did an activity near the end of the day, but not Wii dancing. A bridge walk was done instead. It was a little windy, but otherwise it was a good walk.
While I was listening to a friend's comedy CD this evening I noticed there was a Postal Service word find I hadn't done yet. It was a free publication I picked up at the downtown St. Paul post office, from last summer. Most of the words were inspired by the upcoming 4th of July celebration. This is another item that I am moving to the office, and yes I found all of the words fairly quickly. I also got started on listening to the soundtrack to the movie 'Up In The Air', which just arrived today as an Amazon order.
I did share at the comedy club tonight about the postcard find. The Kentucky native did a joke about seeing the movie 'Noah'. The godmother did one about Subway or Anthrax. I also liked hearing a fairly new one about candy bars and ranch. The ex-TSA agent did one about birthday celebrations, along with favorites of mine such as swearing in winter and the Minnesota/Wisconsin joke. The accountant did one about how she likes getting carded at the library, as well as one about cake pans in Kansas.

Hot Dogs After Meeting

We had an employee meeting at street level this afternoon and there was ballpark fare after it to commemorate the Twins home opener from the previous day. So I did have a hot dog even though it is at a time of day when typically I don't eat. I am hopeful there will be a follow up event where we can have another hot dog, as I would expect there to be some leftovers. There usually is when food is ordered at the office. And I liked wearing my Twins jersey at the office, along with getting some
recognition near the end of the meeting about 15 years of service.
At the comedy club tonight, the bus fare comic was the show closer. He did do the 'High at the movie theater' joke. And I sort of got a shout out for laughing at the setup to the bus fare joke, was called a ghost. The sub teacher did more jokes about his relationship. The show runner was onstage as well, doing his traded for a turkey joke. I got a shout out for it. The dental assistant finished his set with a joke about JFK and MLK playing cards. The neck tattoo comic was MC, but I was in the bar area early on in the show, discussing things like what comedy CDs I have. Currently I have 5 CDs done by my comedian friends. I am still finding out who has done one, and it likely means adding more to the ring of honor. All of those 5 are in this ring of honor, although it is just one of the two in Valley Meadows. The other I haven't seen as much lately.

Alternator And Dented Fender

I had my car worked on earlier today, it needed a new alternator. A light went on last night while errand running, so I got it in the shop before going to work. Also had them take the dent out of the fender. Still prefer it over having to make payments again, didn't enjoy it at all.
Long day at work, high volume even for a Monday. So I went to lunch late. It was nice to get Cracker Jacks for the Twins opening day celebration. It will continue into the next day, at the all-employee meeting in the afternoon.
At the comedy club tonight, I liked hearing the IED/IUD comic do her best joke, and give me a shout out in the process. She has a real good newer joke about a Liam Neeson movie. I liked hearing the roller grill comic do his Super-America joke. The resistable comic did one about having a hipster roommate. The Wisconsin couple was there, the husband did one about fat layers and the wife about filing income taxes quarterly. I liked getting a comedy recommendation related to Don Rickles, written on a napkin. The Oklahoma native did one about having more TV credits than his colleagues at his dayjob.   The 'Extra murder' comic did one about being in Portland, probably meant Oregon, and something about beards. The Tetris comic did one about boat names, then some crowd rap. The Perkins employee did a rant about the cost of a cat surgery.

50 Hour Comedy Marathon

A comedy marathon just wrapped up this evening. I went 3 times over the weekend, including this afternoon when I got a 'Ring of Honor' photo with the 'Resistable comic'. I was there to see another comic perform and to pay for a silent auction item. I liked how we discussed relationships as well, and the business of comedy. I don't get to do this very often.
I did laundry in Maplewood as I wanted to get to the library nearby to print things. I liked seeing
the owner there, who had some good stories. When I spoke of the dryer spontaneously starting
up again twice, she said it was Brad, somebody who died at the Laundromat just two days earlier, of a heart attack. It was a homeless man who was allowed to stay there overnight.
The school bouncer comic was on a friend's radio show this morning, along with  two others. The
subjects covered were atheist shoes, Obama on Syria, an MLK event, and a European woman who wanted to have sex with 100,000 men. It sounded like a rerun, based on the Syria topic.
The Simpsons episode tonight was one with Zack Galifianakis as guest star, involving Homer trying to be a positive role model to Lisa.

Baseball Socks At DSW

I happened to be having dinner at an Applebee's in St. Louis Park and decided to go to a nearby DSW shoe warehouse to look around after I was done. I liked finding baseball socks there. Every so often I need to get more socks anyway, since they do wear out, same as any other clothing.
I am on the email list for my neighborhood grocery store, and today I used a coupon they sent for some ice cream. It was for a 56-ounce paper box, and I was sent to a manager to confirm which ones it was eligible for when it said 'Select'. I liked knowing Neapolitan was eligible. So it meant I also got a blueberry pie. There were limited options, besides Dutch apple pie. I got blueberry as I like the reminder of an art-house movie I saw called 'My blueberry nights'.
I am watching Saturday Night Live, and Anna Kendrick is hosting. I know who this is as she was in 'Up in the air', a favorite movie of mine. It is third on my list, after Rain Man and Good Will Hunting. She is playing the Little Mermaid, and I recognized the first three songs she tried to sing, by Kesha, Britney Spears, and Selena Gomez.

Tiffany Sports Lounge

Tonight I went to Tiffany Sports Lounge in St. Paul as I wanted to attend a fish fry. This one was no doubt different from last week's as this was a bar, and it meant having to order it. I was by myself so I was fine with sitting at the bar. I was full before I finished all of the food- three pieces of fish, along with plenty of fries and some cole slaw. So I did take one piece of fish home. I was next to a man who was drinking shots, and the Timberwolves game was on. He said he only sees the Wolves play in the championship, so this means he doesn't go see them much if at all. He recommended going to Stella's if I like fish, I asked if this was in Minneapolis and he said it is. It would be farther away than this one, so I won't be doing that.
I called my college roommate tonight, he referred to his daughter as 'Tinker-bell'. And when he said he had to put his kids to bed for the night, he referred to them as Fritz and Freida.
I plan on being a part of a 50-hour comedy show fundraiser overnight, at a hotel near the airport and Mall of America. It's stage time, and it will be a good story to tell. I tried to look at who was booked for this event, and many of them are my comedian friends. But there are also some musicians, like the band that does the Joe Biden song. And I even saw mention of a juggler.

Paul Benedict

Recently I was wondering about Paul Benedict, the actor who played Mr. Bentley on the TV show  'The Jeffersons'. It was a typical 'Where are they now?' I hadn't seen many of his roles besides Bentley. He was in a movie called 'Sibling rivalry' as I recall, and the Iowa-filmed movie 'Cold Turkey'. Found out he had died in December 2008. My dad was the type who was familiar with the bios of certain actors. He would be surprised that he played a Brit on 'The Jeffersons' and wasn't British. He was originally from New Mexico and later lived in Massachusetts, according to the Wikipedia page. One thing said about his most famous role was familiar. It was how George found him to be annoying, as he often slammed the door in his face when he told some long, boring stories-being their neighbor.
I did watch 2 episodes of 'Big Bang Theory' tonight. The syndicated rerun was one that I don't think I had seen yet. It was when Raj dated a deaf girl named Emily. He was forced to end it when his parents stepped in, as he was spending a lot of money on gifts for her. The prime time episode was one where Sheldon was unable to decide on an electronics purchase, as he and Amy were still in the store when it closed for the day. Raj went on a date, and there was mention of Lucy, the girl he dated before that kept bailing on him. I really don't enjoy this character, too much like another Lucy- from the Charlie Brown and Snoopy cartoon.
I had no problem staying in tonight due to the snowstorm, and I did watch some of the shows on CBS after 'Big Bang Theory'. This included the show Robin Williams is on about an advertising agency, musician Brad Paisley was a guest star tonight. I did my best to get caught up on paperwork, and this included getting an Amazon dot-com order placed for two 'Up in the air' movie items. This would be the soundtrack, and a movie edition of the novel by Walter Kirn that inspired the movie. I looked at various things about my loyalty programs and memberships and magazines, seeing when they are renewed through. Eventually it meant looking at the envelope where some of the loyalty cards were. I was reminded of how I added two more programs in the past year. One was for Belly, various food establishments are registered. I got it at the Nectary, a sandwich shop. It also appears to be honored at Candy-land. I have been there for their popcorn before, and to see their 3 Charlie Brown and Snoopy statues. The other was Bobby and Steve's, a gas station and car service shop. I go to the one in Minneapolis near 35-W. I like how they have little Godfather's pizzas there. I did have my car worked on there as well, after attending a comedy show nearby.

Security Guard Class Ring

When I was riding the bus home tonight I noticed a frequent passenger, the security guard, had a class ring. This is the one who has shown me some of his sewing, and it is pretty good. I said I used to wear a class ring. He said he hasn't been to any reunions, said they were expensive to attend. He also said that some of the jerks in his class did a '180'. I am thankful I made this bus, it meant I got out on time, unlike the previous two nights. It was likely helped by there being no Wii dancing in the afternoon.
At the comedy club tonight, the show closer was the bathtub comic. He did jokes about his dad's kale chips. He also did one about how he proposed, by drawing it in the sand on the beach. The godmother did one about candy bars and ranch. Auto-correct did one about getting a doll from her mom for her birthday. A comic I will call 'The Perkins employee' was really passionate about his jokes, one of them was how his mom cashed his checks from Perkins for him. The next comic, a lunch lady, said he was a 'Nerd in heat' if I'm not mistaken. I said to her 'You will be all right, just say he is a tough act to follow'. The school bouncer did one about doing a show where a woman was celebrating her 100th birthday. The Kentucky native did jokes about weight loss, and how a full body picture doesn't help him with internet dating.

Rogers Hornsby FDC

Not much arrived in the mail today, but part of it was two online orders. One was from E-bay, a Rogers Hornsby first day cover stamp. The other was from Amazon dot-com, the '60 Minutes' feature about my hometown of Newton, Iowa, from 2010. So now I feel more free to order from Amazon again.  I haven't ordered from them much yet, this was the third item. When I think of Rogers Hornsby I now think of the movie 'Newton Boys' where one gang member was being questioned by the authorities and was asked to look at mug shots. Then he named four baseball players- Rube Waddell, Tris Speaker, Rogers Hornsby, and Ty Cobb. Then the cop says 'That's Ty Cobb all right' and then punches him. Of course this movie was about bank robbers from the 1920s.
At the comedy club tonight the show closer was the 'Mr. Pibb' comic. The opener was the 'Rut-Ro' comic. He has a joke about hearing somebody say rut-ro- instead of uh-oh. The Yemen native did one about his uncle asking for money. The bus fare comic did one about being patted on the head. Half of the act known as Valley Meadows was there, who has been told he looks like Grizzly Adams. He did jokes about he and his lady expecting their first child. I got a book order placed before I made it to the comedy club. I had to re-order it since there were problems with the first and it was canceled.
