this evening i went to see the movie 'strangers on a train', at the trylon in minneapolis. i knew it as the movie danny devito is watching in 'throw mama from the train', as one inspired the other. i was able to notice where alfred hitchcock made a cameo appearance, it was early on. when a main character leaves a train, alfred is boarding it, carrying a musical instrument. a teacher once said how hitchcock liked appearing in his own movies. this was when we were viewing 'the birds' in a high school class. i enjoyed the scenes from a carnival, especially the carousel as it was a reminder of riding on a carousel next to the como zoo in st. paul last summer. at times the crowd laughed, and i was laughing with them as i liked how some of the actors deadpanned their lines. this was true of the senator, and the sister of the main character's lady friend. there is likely another film i will attend in this series, as this month the trylon is showing hitchcock films to celebrate his 125th birthday.
at work i chipped in for a gift card to a restaurant for my boss's birthday. we presented it just before i went to lunch. a business line was being annoying about one of their requests. i had sent checks for them directly to san diego and los angeles before, for taxes. i had to let them know, when asked why i hadn't sent copies, that the file still needed to get approved. i printed it once the file was approved. still amazed at times how many people i.m. me, thinking i am not doing my job, but i have to tell them it is 'circumstances beyond my control'. must have been somebody new. the others from the file were sent to oshkosh. there was a brief dial-in meeting in the morning with another business line, but i don't know why i was on that call. i could have just been sent an email of what was decided. after the movie i went on a walk and found 86 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon drunk dials steven hawking, and howard is revealed as 'clog-zilla'. it was followed by the one where raj and howard try to pick up goth chicks, and i like sarah, the one who said 'not that anyone cares'. i had to leave in the middle of the second one in order to get to the movie.
