in the evening i went to the Minnesota wild hockey game. it was 'hockey day' in the state, explains why there was a giveaway item, a shirt with UHC as the sponsor. hadn't been to a wild game in a while, but it was nice to get a discounted ticket through the credit union. the wild lost, 4-3, in overtime. i wasn't too surprised as the opponent, the Florida panthers, had more shots on goal. the wild's goalie was keeping them in the game until the end of regulation. i ate before i went to the game, and got some popcorn while there, but some of the popcorn was taken home at the end of the night. security was condescending with me, only asking me to empty my pockets on the second attempt. i took the bus to and from the game as it was subzero weather. a dude was trying to talk to me at the bus stop after the game but i was taciturn, because it was cold, it was late, and i just wanted to get home. after i saw him violently move an empty liquor bottle off the bench, i saw it as fair warning what kind of conversation we would have. i got groceries at Aldi before i went to the game. in the morning i went to the post office, just one item picked up. it was a postcard. i had sent it a week earlier, saying 'hi to myself' about being in Chicago. then i went to the nearby gas station and had some pizza. i was fine with giving my car the day off as i still found a way to get where i needed to go and can run it again the next day when it is above zero.
