i think that one colleague who sent me checks from the Cincinnati file didn't know what he was doing. i got various emails and instant messages about it, and i said nothing was shipped yet and when the pick-up time is. at one point i was sent three overnight labels but noticed two of them were duplicated. when i had the time after sending the regular mail tubs to the mailroom, i matched up the labels by the code that one sees on the checks. i understood that one check would be going to Quincy and two would be going to the same place in Houston. i said i have a policy of one label, one envelope after all were sent to the box to be picked up. when i entered the tracking number for the two going to Houston i noticed the label had been canceled about twenty minutes after being created, and wasn't notified of that by the sender, i trust that it won't hold anything up. two others were a case of 'putting out fires'. one was going to suburban st. louis and the sender was disappointed that it didn't go out the same day it was created. the other had a payee listed as a martial arts place, same issue with the sender. the boss ran interference for me on the former. with the latter once i found out which one it was i had to ask, 'do you want it sent out or not?' since one response was 'hold please'. but all was fine when i said it would likely be picked up shortly. i noticed someone tried to call me on a conference call about it but i was running the afternoon files through the inserter machine and didn't hear it. there was a dial-in meeting in the morning with the facility manager. it was another case of not going the full 3-minute allotment but i didn't mind. in the evening i went to the Hy-Vee in Eagan for groceries and bought ten items. one of them was a box of cereal inspired by the movie 'toy story 5'. i chose the one with buzz lightyear on it. when i arrived i had to listen until the end of a song i was hearing on my car radio. after searching online i found out later on it was 'tender' by blur. the line that stuck with me was 'tender is the night', which made it harder to find as this is the name of a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and those hits were listed first.
