i watched a DVD movie this morning from the video store near my workplace, 'arachnophobia'. i recognized jeff daniels in it, as well as john goodman. the latter was why i rented it, although goodman does not have much of a presence until the second half of the movie. he is the comic relief as the exterminator, and is still listed third in the cast. i correctly predicted who was going to die when the movie begins in venezuela, as it was the man that didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the expedition. i liked seeing a clip from the TV show 'family ties' in it, and i knew the episode as well. it was the one where the family wants to see the movie 'ET' but the mom is held up at work. also liked some of the music in it, recognizing 'summer wind' by frank sinatra, and 'left my heart in san francisco' by tony bennett.
i got started again on the cleanup around my home, wanting to get to the boxes from the office that were still taped up even though i was laid off more than 2 years ago. i found plenty of things, including more ornaments to put on the christmas tree. i started with five, and i emptied another box today so it is now down to three. still a question of how to re-purpose those two boxes, but putting books in them seems like a good idea at this point. some things were thrown out. a mold-a-rama from the como zoo was broken, so i might want a replacement during my next visit. there were plenty of collectibles in these three boxes, including die-cast model cars and a scale model semi-trailer with the walgreen name on it. most of it has been sorted already. in the late afternoon i went on a walk and picked up 8 cents.
