i watched the movie 'kansas' today, starring matt Dillon and Andrew McCarthy. i already had it on VHS but like being able to replace it with a DVD copy. i just acquired the DVD copy over the weekend. i had to look at the receipt inside the VHS copy to be reminded of how long ago i bought it, it really had been a while. it was from 2001, when i lived in suburban Chicago. i moved the receipt to the DVD copy. about the movie itself, i hadn't seen it in a while. i recalled things like a bank robbery being a big part of the story, as well as one of them saving the life of the governor's daughter. it is beautiful scenery in this movie, as one sees plenty of farmland, especially wheat fields. of course some of it looked familiar to me, having grown up in small-town iowa, although it was mostly cornfields there instead of wheat.
this afternoon i made another visit to print things at the library, much like the previous day. and i made another visit to cub foods, much like the previous day. Monday it was some TV dinners, this time it was cereal. i noticed i was running low on the cereal i have for the week, and having a single-serving bowl will fill the void well as otherwise it looked like i would run out a little early. i also got a small container of ice cream, and thankfully there was a wooden spoon in a wrapper in the freezer next to it, i ate the ice cream in my car in the grocery store parking lot before i went anywhere. it served as a reminder of how i prefer a metal spoon over a wooden or plastic one. but you make do with what you have.
i performed at two venues tonight, and the big dog was at the first one. he is headlining at a nearby venue this week and asked me to help promote the show.
