after work i went to a going-away party tonight for a comic that is moving to new york city. i did not know many of the people there, but i was invited by cul-de-sac through facebook. the show runner from a mic i sometimes perform at was there, along with his younger brother, who would like to pursue being a musician. there was two cakes at the party, one had strawberries on top. the other spoke of it being cheaper to fail as a comic in the twin cities. i brought a fruit tray that was found at hy-vee, because half of the vegetable tray there was broccoli and cauliflower. i drank two beers there, a grain belt and a blue moon, and had a burger. the fries were good, guess the host of the house party fried them himself instead of baking them. i did my best to find common ground with those i didn't know well, got a few laughs from my observations about performing. it took a while, but cul-de-sac did show up with his lady, said he had a show to do. there was mention of wanting to do another event in a week, which does interest me. i didn't go home until the event was done as i found out it was just one mile from my workplace. i also didn't speak much of where i work as i prefer to keep those two parts of my life separate. when i was at hy-vee i noticed some state fair-type food stands in the parking lot. one of them had ice cream, i had the raspberry and vanilla flavored. second straight day having ice cream as i had it at the dairy queen near my work the day before. at work i got caught up on running checks through, and the newer business line sent us a file, the only one of the week. there was some emails and a call about a file having duplicated check numbers. i was not aware of this right away. what i did know is that it was related to a file that was waiting for approval for nearly a week and was approved three days ago. notable about the drive home was hearing 'no sleep till brooklyn', by the beastie boys, a reminder of driving back from baseball games in milwaukee, when living in suburban chicago. i would say 'no sleep till schaumburg'. when i got home i went on a walk and found 2 dollars 11 cents.
