cedar riverside documentary

i stayed active as usual even though it is the weekend. first order of business was the post office; one order was picked up. then it was on to drop off recycle near the capitol. there road was blocked off due to construction and this meant parking one block over and walking the rest of the way. not a big deal to me as i have done it before. then i made a stop at the French alliance to see a display in the art gallery. it was a retrospective of the past fifty years since the organization was officially registered as a non-profit. when i was done it was midday by then so i went to have a sandwich at Jersey Mike's. i wasn't home for long after lunch as i wanted to get to a lecture at the Minnesota history center about the cedar-riverside area of Minneapolis. it was a free event that included a screening of a short documentary. i had been to that part of town many times before as this is the general area for many of the venues for the fringe festival. and i have performed at a venue that was profiled in the documentary, riverside cafe, now known as Acadia. notable was how it included a clip from the TV show 'Mary Tyler Moore' as it was about the construction of the high-rise housing complex and the clip was from that time period. when i got home i watched a college football game, Iowa was playing Minnesota in Iowa City. it was halftime when i turned on the TV and Iowa was up 31-0 and went on to win it, 41-3. after having the evening meal i went to get groceries at the Aldi, then watched game two of the world series. the dodgers won to even the series. first two games were in Toronto and the next three will be in Los Angeles.
