saw the movie 'i can only imagine' this afternoon in Eagan. i liked this movie, as i found it to be relatable, using performing to work through things. also helped that actors i had heard of such as dennis quaid and cloris leachman are in it. i hadn't heard of the song that became the movie's title, but listened to it on YouTube before i went to see the movie. i thought about other movies while watching it, including 'running with scissors' as the main character found a way to speak up. there were some scenes that made you laugh, so i had a wide range of emotions while watching it. part of me expected it to be a life-changing movie, not sure why. i had already experienced this feeling when i saw 'good will hunting' 20 years ago. i was thinking about what i would write about it in a facebook posting while still watching the previews! was it hard to watch at times? of course. one older woman commented about it while leaving the theater, saying she couldn't believe somebody could get abused that much. i said that it happens all the time, i should know. notable about seeing this movie was how it paid off to see it where i did. i have a loyalty program there, and when using the card i was informed there was a free small popcorn waiting for me as it is my birthday month. so i got the popcorn. one never knows what kind of free stuff there is available.
i also got a happy meal at McDonald's, as i had been there recently for a shamrock shake and noticed they had snoopy toys in the happy meals. being a big fan of Charlie brown and snoopy, we knew how that one was going to end. i have two, as i noticed an abandoned one when i was out and about. i claimed a 'masked marvel' from the motocross special, and got the author in my own happy meal. i had hoped to get the baseball player but they gave me the dancer instead, at first. some mention of wasn't sure if they still had the one i wanted. looks like this promotion runs another 2 weeks, according to what i found online, so i could try again sometime soon. but no more than once a day. of course there is also the option of ordering online, but that appears to cost more than a happy meal does.
in the evening i arrived much earlier than typical to do karaoke, i did one song, it was 'two princes' by the spin doctors. i had heard it on my rental car radio while i was in Chicago-land last weekend. i moved it up as i wanted to see a friend's concert in Minneapolis, it was opera singer's band. i got a photo after the show onstage with him and another band member. i am thankful they let me know the order of the lineup when i inquired about it on facebook. i said it helps me out a lot as i wanted to do both- perform karaoke, and support a comedy friend. i hadn't seen his band perform in a little while.
