tech was called for envelope stuffer, wasn't sealing well. was told it was due to the wetter beam, i said i heard it was a laser beam. it was in the afternoon, i had just returned from lunch, had picked up a grimace shake at mcdonald's. i asked for testing on the payroll statements as well. tech was the iowan. i made it to hy-vee in eagan in the evening, did not get cereal this time, already had plenty. got two boxes of patriotic snack cakes, one from hostess and one from little debbie. also made it to the liquor store near me, got a can of fulton so now there are four beers waiting. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 20 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard was in space and the other astronauts wrote 'f. loops' on his forehead. it was followed by the one where the friends get drunk with blue vodka and find feynman's grave after leonard's interview didn't go well.

grainy payroll check
i had a quick call from my boss saying there was a fraudulent check. i noticed the mail code was from payroll so it was not a check i would have printed. the return address in the top left corner was grainy, but that is where i saw the mail code. i do not know much about any checks printed by that department, and when many are on direct deposit i have heard of 'off-cycle checks'. the customer service manager asked for another direct deposit copy, and said 'pretty please'. i said it is nice that she said it, but i would expect that i have to do all requests, and not just those who say 'please'. there was three big boxes of donuts in the breakroom in the morning, i had one. they were all gone by midday. i drank the can of bud light with the evening meal so now three beers are waiting. later on i went on a walk and found 12 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj was invited on sheldon and amy's date, while howard lied to his mom and wife while in space. it was followed by the one where sheldon and amy are engaged, then amy hugs ramona, who had kissed sheldon.

elbows and knees
the department had a gathering in the breakroom around midday, where we had papa john's pizza. then there was an ice breaker question, about knees and elbows. i didn't know how to answer that. i had three slices, then went back to check printing so i did not do the activities and games planned. i got a laugh when telling a story about delivering for pizza hut as a teenager. there was another attempt on test checks, but my boss said the MICR line needed to be in the 'plus sign' area and not all of the five checks had it in the right place. the was a meeting with a senior leader as well, who said there was another manager being added to the reporting structure. i picked up two more movies from the video store, no mention yet of their closing date being extended beyond friday. later in the evening i went on a walk and found 40 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard goes into space, and getting married to bernadette was told in flashback. it was followed by the one where ramona returns and kisses sheldon which prompts sheldon to go to princeton and propose to amy. i liked both of these a lot.

check not in file
the newer business line gave a list of 21 checks to overnight, except one of them was not in the file. so when i sent the tracking numbers i said i went by payees instead of check numbers as the rest of the file was off by one on the number. by the end of the day there was no response to it, so i guess no questions about what i did. as usual there was plenty that were 'return to business line', not just going to hopkins but also cedar rapids. the second box of overnight envelopes arrived, and one box for the customer service manager was picked up from the branch as well. i left it with a lieutenant as she was part of the same off-site meeting as my boss apparently. i was checking a site about new ulm events and found one this summer of interest to me. now it is a matter of finding a way to get there, figuring out the logistics. usually i just go there once a year for oktoberfest. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 63 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj thinks he is dating his phone. it includes a 'fun with flags' with a german theme. it was followed by the one where amy accepts a fellowship at princeton.

toaster dusted off
i bought a pack of english muffins and told myself they would taste better toasted. so it meant that i dusted off my toaster that was in a box and wrapped in a plastic bag and used it for the first time in years. still seems to be working just fine. not a lot to put on the muffins so i have been eating them plain and they taste good. at work i was asked to find a check copy in the morning, first had to guess what business line based on the check number. it was from the fargo files, and once found i got it scanned to my boss and saw that the 'responsible official' for that business line was copied on the response. the name on the check was an organization instead of a private individual. a box of overnight envelopes and the toner cartridge for the check printer was picked up from the branch, although i ordered two boxes. i performed at an open-mic in the evening, and a poet said i was 'savage' the previous week, in reference to how i handled the heckling older couple. guess it was another way of showing respect for how well i handled it. the wild guitar player showed off a second guitar and said the primary one is a johnny cash edition. during my set i spoke of attending the taylor swift drag brunch, and the arguing i witnessed at the bank in the parking lot. later on i went on a walk and found 53 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard had his bachelor party. it was followed by the one where penny was offered a job at zac's menu company but turned it down.

10 cloverfield lane movie
this afternoon i put in a DVD movie, a recent purchase from amazon, '10 cloverfield lane'. i recognized john goodman in it, and bought it after finding a youtube interview about the movie. it takes place in louisiana, and is about a man who was a survivalist. he takes a young lady to a concrete bunker after a car wreck. at one point we do see goodman wearing a 'missouri wolves football' shirt, in reference to playing some college football before getting into acting. and it was kind of funny to see a shower curtain with a rubber duck on it. in the morning i went to a pancake breakfast at kaposia days in south st. paul. i paid for the festival button with quarters. after i got back i looked at my button collection and my first visit to this festival was in 2010. i missed a few years since then and now have eleven buttons from it. a then-coworker who lives there told me about the event. after having pancakes i got a look at the armour stockyard gates, then i left town. it rained off and on throughout the day so i decided to move the water park visit to another weekend. i had a sandwich at jersey mike's at midday, there was something on TV about the presidency of jimmy carter. then i laid down for a while after i got home. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 58 cents. i checked my phone and noticed dad must have called me when i was asleep in the afternoon. so i called in the evening and it was wrapped up just as the 10pm news was starting.

taylor swift drag brunch
this afternoon i went to a taylor swift-themed drag brunch. this was brunch number six for me, each one with a different theme. i wrote down 21 songs, most of the songs that were played there in the 90-minute show. i knew many of them, including 'love story', anti-hero', 'karma', 'i knew you were trouble', 'bad blood', 'look what you made me do', 'welcome to new york', blank space', 'shake it off', and 'ready for it'. i was seated at the bar, and had a grain belt beer and a burger with fries. during the show i noticed a ferris wheel across the street, as part of pride weekend in minneapolis apparently. when i rode the light rail into the show i saw some people i rode with were getting ready for the real taylor show at the Vikings stadium. some were ushers and some were ticket holders. a little surprising as it was hours before the show began. but i was aware from the news how some were waiting in line just to get merchandise. i did get a picture of the banner at the stadium from the light rail stop. in the morning i enjoyed both taylor discs i have. this was the '1989' CD, bought at the nearby family dollar which is now a micro-brewery. and the other is the 'CMT Crossroads' DVD with Def Leppard, bought at a walgreen. both were 'oddball finds' as both were found at non-music stores. i was interested in some of the other musicians who have appeared on this show but it is hard to find any other editions on DVD besides the one i already have. i like having the DVD as it includes '2 steps behind', the Def Leppard song that reminds me of returning to college for year two. taylor did this show while still a teenager, just a month before the release of her 'fearless' album in 2008. figured it was a good idea to 'get out of dodge' shortly after the show ended, downtown minneapolis that is, much like after attending a twins game. after i made it home i went to aldi for my weekly grocery order. then i watched the baseball game on Fox, twins-tigers, twins lost 3-2. at midday i watched the cardinals-cubs game from London, Cardinals trailing 7-1 at the end of the 6th when i left for the brunch, the final score was 9-1. during my walks i found 32 cents. also made it to the liquor store and got a can of rolling rock so now there are four beers waiting.

tassel worth the hassle
i was at hy-vee in eagan tonight and saw a display that said 'tassel worth the hassel'. it was about graduating from a school, in a case in the hot food section. guess this is how i felt about both of my graduations. there was a big shipment of patriotic cupcakes and twinkies on a pallet, i picked up a box of the twinkies. i was thinking ahead to the 4th of july picnic as i already signed up and said i was bringing twinkies. at work things were humming along well until the end of the day when the envelope stuffer started to have the sealing problem again. so this is likely something i will have to deal with next week. in the morning i took an item left at the UPS box over to the post office, i think it was a return item of clothing. while there i got a charlie brown card, not the typical one i see as the characters are small wooden figures. at midday i went over to mcdonald's and got a grimace shake, my third in the past week. no surprise how there was plenty of taylor swift music on the radio as this is the first of her two shows at the vikings stadium. the big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon polished belt buckles for howard in order to get a meeting with steve hawking. it was followed by the one where sheldon and amy do a 'fun with flags' retrospective and bert calls the show about what he is buying for his lady friend.

blood simple movie
i went to another movie at the grand-view theater in st. paul tonight, 'blood simple'. it is part of the month's 'darkness on the edge of town' series. i recognized frances mcdormand and dan hedaya in it. this was the debut movie for the coens. i had seen some of their movies before. this was about the bar owner's wife having an affair with one of the employees, then the bar owner wants them killed. it takes place in texas. it was from the 1980s so some things look dated, especially the rotary dial phones and the public pay phones. i noticed one of the songs at the bar was 'sweet dreams' by patsy cline. at work the system was still running slow for a while but i just decided some things needed to be done a little earlier. thankfully it seemed back to normal by later in the day. i discovered an odd thing about the canadian files. i went to print one of those files in the afternoon and there was two files, one of them from monday. that was a holiday but i didn't know it was there. usually it ends up at the top of the dashboard saying 'prior day incomplete files'. so they still went out, just a few days late. the nice thing about getting out a little earlier is hearing the 5pm surprise on a radio station, 97.1. today it was three songs about the same day. it was 'sunday morning' by no doubt, and maroon 5, then 'bloody sunday' by U2. in the morning i heard a song for newsboy hat's ice cream business, based on 'ice ice baby' by vanilla ice, on 94.5. after the movie i went on a walk and found 64 cents. i drank the can of bauhaus with the evening meal, and this week got a can of 'resistance is futile' so there still are three beers waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj got a dog and bernadette said 'metrosexual my ass'. sheldon broke a star trek toy. it was followed by the one where amy plays 'soft kitty' on auto-harp for sheldon, after sheldon goes to a cowboy bar.

meetup literature event
i made it home after a meetup literature event began. it was about anti- semitism in literature. i had heard of 'hansel and gretel', and 'rapunzel', but hadn't read them in a while. also mention of the back plague being blamed on jewish people. it was a presentation by a book editor from canada. i asked one question but it went unanswered, asking for thoughts about howard and his mom from 'big bang theory' since one of the jewish stereotypes mentioned was a nagging mom. because of this event, i did not watch any 'big bang theory' reruns tonight. i was held up at work due to the system being slow for a while, starting just after midday. this meant it took longer for crating overnight labels. and i noticed some check files, once printed, kept starting over. so i did my best to prevent any duplicate checks from going out by looking at the files. this is why it is nice to see the sequence on the dashboard, showing the first and last check number in each file. i was noticing how the end check was unsigned and then there was a blank page, when it would start over. for one file the same check printed at least five times. re-booting the system made no difference at all. looks like the slowness led to some files not arriving in the afternoon. when i looked at facebook memories i had to pause when i saw two postings from twelve years ago on the night of a comedy contest. because it was a reminder of the things that had changed since then. and i looked at what i did just days later, i went to a writers convention in detroit. it was dad's birthday, called and got voicemail. later in the evening i went on a walk and found 95 cents.

waiting for guffman movie
tonight i went to see a movie at trylon cinema in south minneapolis, 'waiting for guffman'. i had read about it in advance how it was inspired by 'waiting for godot'. i recognized brian doyle murray and paul benedict, although both had small roles. it was being shown as it was a month of celebrating parker posey movies, who played a dairy queen employee in it. it was a mock-umentary about trying to impress a big time producer with a play about a sesqui-centennial in a small town in missouri. i do like the 'confessional booth' scenes that were throughout the movie, as it reminded me of 'the office'. and i liked the clip from 'the simpsons' before the movie started where homer eats part of the hot dog advertising the concession stand at a movie theater. the movie did not start on time, but it was listed as sold out so i am thankful i ordered an advance ticket. a group in the row behind me spoke of taylor swift albums, likely due to her upcoming shows in the area. at work there was an early email from the boss stating he was still at mille lacs and would be back the next day. there were plenty of boxes to pick up from the branch and send to the delivery table on fourth floor. i noticed a package was near the UPS box so i put it in the mailbox outside. when i re-entered the building somebody tried to piggy-back and i informed them to go to the lower level since they wanted the bank branch. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when penny cut sheldon's hair. liked one scene where amy was describing hair and then said she would be a while in the bathroom, she must have been hot and bothered. then it was on to the movie. after the movie i picked up some cheese and vitamin water at walgreen and i saw somebody get bounced, must have been trying to shoplift.

victim blaming on a uke
i performed at an open-mic in the evening, was the first one onstage. notable about the show after me was seeing a young lady playing a ukulele. the first song was about the three little pigs and she said it was also about victim blaming. guess i had fair warning for what i encountered when i was onstage, as there was an older couple who kept talking during my set. one of them said something to me about jerry seinfeld before the show and i said i don't play guitar. i called them out because it was too hard to ignore them, then others clapped when i did. i just kept plowing through. i made a reference to a taylor swift song bout apologies. after my set i had people find me an said i did well in spite of them. i said i had dealt with worse than that before. in those two earlier cases, and in this one, they were all likely drunk. not long after my set was done i saw them leave the show room so i guess i took one for the team. i found things to do on this day off before i made it to the club. i sent three weeks worth of recycle to the capitol. on the way back i stopped at a speedway gas station and got ice cream on a stick and an arnold palmer drink in a can. i got pictures of the nearby former burger king as it looks like it is finally being demolished after sitting vacant for just over five years. i also listened to comedy CDs by the wisconsin lady, acquired as my pay for documenting her show in late march. one of them i hadn't heard before but both were good. the first i had heard as a download. i watched 'jeopardy' and knew some of the answers when the contestants didn't. this included an alphabet agency from the depression, the SEC. and the final jeopardy clue, it was dolly parton awarded a hundred million by jeff bezos. it was a rarer one where one contestant didn't take part in final jeopardy due to a negative balance at the end of double jeopardy. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon and kripke competed for an office. it was followed by the one where raj dressed in a costume to promote the comic book store. during my walks i found 67 cents.

grimace's birthday meal
at midday i went to the mcdonald's in mendota heights and had the 'grimace's birthday meal'. it was a choice between the big mac and the chicken nuggets, i chose the nuggets. the drink was a purple shake, hence the name as grimace is purple. when the order was delivered to my table i had to ask where the fries were, as i understood it was a meal. so the fries were brought out as well. i do recall the 'mcdonald-land' characters, besides just ronald, so i like the fast-food chain honoring their history. the original plan was to eat at the strawberry festival in cottage grove, but when i got there all i saw was some carnival rides and games. it didn't look like anyone was even selling a festival button. and it looked like one had to get a special card for electronic payments, for probably the food too. i don't think there were many food choices there anyway. so i left after a brief walk around the area. guess it would have been a better idea to go on saturday, but i was already booked that day. no longer a big deal to me when plans change, sometimes things are a 'no-go'. after lunch i printed some event tickets at the copy store. i also laid down and rested for a while once i got home. i watched '60 minutes' as there was an interview with the band red hot chili peppers. the band's 'blood sugar' album was the first CD i ever bought, while at college in iowa city. and i saw them in concert with foo fighters in 2000 in bloomington, indiana. and i am familiar with how some of the band members have appeared in movies from time to time. later in the evening there was some shouting just outside my window, looks like the police eventually arrived. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 11 cents.

marlowe movie
this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'marlowe'. i recognized liam neeson and jessica lange in it. this was a crime thriller, and marlowe was a private eye. the setting was hollywood in the 1930s. it was filmed in ireland and spain, and was based on a book called 'black eyed blonde'. near the end of the movie we see a poster of a movie of this name, a clever way of getting the book title into the movie despite the movie having a different name. what made it a crime thriller was the hookers and drug smuggling. after it was done it was time to get to the post office. nothing to pick up there, just an advertisement for a car dealer and it wasn't addressed to me so i threw it in the recycle bin. then i dumped the movie at the gas station and went to roosevelt high school in minneapolis. there was a centennial celebration for the school, found out through an online search for events. i had been in a mentoring program at the school through my employer, but it ended seven years ago. i did a self guided tour of the school, and got a look at the car show in the parking lot. there was an edsel station wagon, first time seeing one of those, had only seen sedans before. and it was cool getting pictures from a photo booth. not much there in terms of food, so i had a whopper junior at the burger king down the road on hiawatha. i noticed a couple communicating in sign language while there. i tried getting ice cream at the dairy queen but it was drive through only so i went to mcdonald's. i had a grimace shake, there is a meal celebrating grimace's birthday. on the way to downtown st. paul i saw someone dressed as the hamm's beer bear near a liquor store. i had samplings of beer and wine while there. on to alary's bar, which is closing soon. i had a sam adams seasonal, as only tap beer was remaining. this is a bar where i had watched chicago bears football games, including the super bowl. when i got home i had some pizza, then went to aldi for my weekly grocery order. i was expecting the red sox-yankees game to be on Fox game of the week, but rays-padres was on. it was a scoreless tie when i joined, and the padres went on to win 2-0, aided by an inning with three straight bunts. during my walks i found 13 cents.

trust the bum
when i was at hy-vee in eagan tonight, i saw a display that said 'trust the bum'. it was for sunscreen from 'sun bum'. it was catchy because the logo is an ape's head. this was a larger order than typical, as i got toilet paper and a toothbrush, and those are things i don't get that often. five of the items bought were 'private label', which i don't mind since they are cheaper. at work i pointed out how test checks were too low on the page, the alignment was off. during my walks i found 2 dollars, mostly in quarters. i see a facebook thread from opera singer about taking care of his kid when not sent to day-care. one comic was shown playing the piano. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon tries an energy drink because the flash offered a free one. it was followed by the one where sheldon admits to amy that he has a driver license, after she drives him to the train museum in the desert. and after finding out they are part of the gossip at work. i was able to sneak in three more entries in the contest for the movie 'the flash' on the final day, so now i have 20 entries. hopefully i end up with a free ticket like i did with 'space jam' two years ago.

call from the cardinals
near the end of the workday i saw a number with a 314 area code on my phone. it wasn't the friends i know in st. louis. i checked voicemail when i got home and it was from the cardinals. there was an email as well. i responded to the email and said i visit on an annual basis, and would be making my reservations soon. i did send a text to my friends about the team contacting me. the sky was not as hazy as the day before but i still didn't spend much time outside, though during my walks i found 1 dollar 10 cents. i drank a can of modelo with the evening meal and got a can of bud light at the liquor store so there still are three beers waiting. at work there wasn't too much out of the ordinary. i did take some returned mail to the nearby insurance agency during my lunch, on the way back from picking up a snack at walgreen. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when amy said goodbye to sheldon, a season finale where leonard and penny elope in las vegas. it was followed by the one where sheldon said 'nice try, blockheads' when the friends try to bring him back to a military project by drawing charlie brown's hair. amy said she could get him to the train station in two hours, on a vacation package bought by leonard to keep him occupied.

berry pebbles cereal
sometimes i see 'limited edition' cereals at the grocery store. i am now eating berry pebbles cereal, found at aldi. i searched it online and found out it was honoring women's history month in march, as it profiles 'women who rock'. i had heard of sally ride, who went into space, but not the other three. there are some puzzles on the back of the box as well. it tastes good, as expected. i haven't had pebbles in a while, but i am used to how flintstones characters are used to promote it. at work i briefly saw my boss in the morning, who visited the shop and said it was 'part of our service' to overnight checks if need be. this was in reference to the email, being notified how the tax specialist said there would be a search for another courier. i swapped out a toner cartridge from one of the check printers, i had one spare available, but haven't seen the next spare yet. usually those are auto-shipped and arrive just before i need to change it. the air was hazy when i was at the end of the workday, the news on the radio said it was from the smoke from wild fires in canada. so i kept my windows up when driving home and did not do a walk in the evening. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard found out his NASA mission was moved up. it was followed by the one where sheldon got an emotion sensor, exposing lies from friends. the news wasn't on after it, so i went over to the 'movies!' channel and watched 'the cowboys', starring john wayne. i had seen it before but still like it, especially when john helps a kid get over stuttering by letting the kid swear at him.

lockbox code
looks like we have a new courier at work for the tax spcialist. i was called in the afternoon and met them at the lockbox. had to let them know what the lockbox code is. both envelopes were picked up. not just the 35 checks from the previous day, but also nine from the midday i-pay file. there was fifteen checks from the newer file to be overnighted, some were 'returned to business line', going to hopkins or cedar rapids. i am still finding events to do this summer, checking online on various sites. or in some cases, moving ideas back to a less busy weekend. one of them is a place i haven't been to in a while. in the evening i went on a walk and found 15 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends were dressed as the justice league at the new year's eve party at the comic book store, with zac as superman. it was followed by the one where amy and penny go to a spa and then sheldon and leonard show up, with sheldon drawing up a contract for leonard and penny.

cunningham's law
went to perform at an open-mic tonight. the show runner spoke of 'cunningham's law' at one point. looked it up and found out it was an internet thing. the law is: the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question, it is to post the wrong answer. i have likely seen this in practice before. when i was onstage i said i recognized a thing another performer said was from wayne's world. and i covered the hy-vee story as well. at work it looks like there may be another courier. there was 18 checks for the tax specialist in first i-pay and 35 in the second. the first batch was overnighted, was asked to hold onto the second for now. and there was test checks to send to oregon. after the show i went on a walk and found 52 cents. 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon had the virtual presence device. then it was sheldon and amy visiting his mom in texas.

walk hard, dewey cox movie
this morning i put in a DVD movie, a recent purchase from amazon, 'walk hard'. this was a 'mock-umentary' about a fictional singer, dewey cox. i recognized some of the things being satirized or parodied in it, especially from the johnny cash bio-pic. the running gag about the wrong son died was definitely from 'walk the line'. in the second half of the movie i was laughing uncontrollably, not sure why. but i know there was another running gag about ripping bathroom sinks from the wall. i am reminded of what a teacher in high school said about laughing at a parody of 'cool hand luke'. it was funnier because of having seen what was being lampooned. and it was nice seeing some musicians appearing as themselves, including pearl jam front-man eddie vedder. before the movie i went to aldi for groceries. after the movie i went to german days at the german institute on summit avenue in st. paul. it took a while to find parking but i found it at cathedral hill, next to the curling club. it was a part of town i hadn't seen before. and i got a picture of a lucy statue in boyd park, it was one that had been moved from a downtown church. i had cream soda and a pork steak sandwich at the festival. and i got a look inside the building, where some model trains were on display on the upper level. there was a bus showing german history in america as well. some of the music, especially the 'ziggy ziggy', reminded me of attending oktoberfest in new ulm. after i got home i laid down for a while. during my walks i found 3 dollars 14 cents.

search for batteries
there was four items on my list for chores and errand running. one of those was finding batteries for my flashlight. i found them, but had to buy more than i wanted. i just needed two but the smallest package available was four. this was at home depot, the same chain store where i got the flashlight a year ago. surprised i needed replacement batteries so quickly. i went there after having a sandwich at jersey mikes. first errand was going to the post office, there was two items to pick up. i went there after watching 'lyle crocodile', the copy i bought from the video store liquidation sale. then the fourth stop was dairy queen, to get an oreo brookie blizzard. i have now had four different flavors from this season's lineup, one left that i haven't tried. when i got home i laid down for a while, it had started to rain by then. the power went out, and when i woke up it was time to get on the road to the saints baseball game. the power was back on just as i was out the door. i got a sandwich and drink at a speedway gas station for the evening meal, already had a brownie and chips. the saints led early, 2-0, against the iowa cubs with solo home runs, but lost 9-3. i got a brochure about strawberry days in cottage grove as i spoke of it to somebody representing it. later on i went on a walk and found 60 cents.

liquid egg product
i went to hy-vee in eagan for my weekly grocery order and i was asked to help a lady get a product off the shelf. it was a liquid egg product. what i didn't like was that she thought i needed help with my basket. no, i will put it down myself. i moved most of the cartons close to the front, they looked like quart cartons for the egg nog i have around the holidays. this was early in my visit, just ten items were bought. it was a fairly low volume day at work, but nine checks set aside were picked up. i did get a response to the email about the courier for the tax checks, but i said i was unfamiliar with who else uses a courier. later in the evening i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 94 cents. i got a can of modelo at the liquor store so now there are three beers waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends made penny blossoms. it was followed by the one where howard and bernadette have baby number one.

virgin suicides movie
this evening i went to see a movie in st. paul, 'virgin suicides'. i recognized james woods, kathleen turner, and danny devito in it. the movie is from 1999, i found it on the theater's website when i was checking for what was playing at theaters that likely aren't listed on fandango. this was the second of three screenings for the week. it takes place in suburban detroit in the 1970s. as the title suggests, this was a dark movie. the mom was strict with her five girls and she is of course unlikeable, at one point forcing them to give up their rock music records. other times it was just plain weird. at work i overnighted another tax check and this time i notified my boss about it. nearly a week ago we were notified about the courier ending their service and we have yet to hear about another courier being chosen by the tax department. i drank the bottle of heineken with the evening meal so now two beers are waiting. after getting out of the movie i saw school bouncer in a vintage car. later on i went on a walk and found 68 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon got his yoko ono, ramona. and the barenaked ladies song was playing, rare that one hears music played in this show. it was followed by the one where stuart moves in with howard and bernadette as the couple is about to have a baby.

replacement courier questions
in the morning there was an email from customer service about the courier that handles the tax checks. i said i was aware of how our tax specialist informed us how the existing courier ended their service effective at the end of friday. i understood it was up to their team to find another one. since then i have overnighted one check to them. i noticed the tax specialist was one of those copied on the original message. also notable about the workday was the newer business line ending seventeen checks. wasn't expecting this since the previous day it was six. hopefully nothing the next day then. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when penny had a halloween party and sheldon went as the doppler effect. i think this one was chosen because the friends at first all dressed as the flash and 'the flash' sweepstakes is ongoing. it was followed by the one where sheldon keeps hurting himself after bert gets a plaque and a big cash reward for his work. i liked penny saying 'knock it off, dolores' to sheldon. the news wasn't on after it, soccer was. eventually i watched a 'rockford files' rerun after checking what some other channels had on. later on i went on a walk and found 54 cents.

papa johns pizza and cupcakes
lunch was early for me at work, the department met in a conference room. papa johns pizza was ordered and a colleague brought cupcakes. i had three slices of pizza and two cupcakes. the luncheon was in reference to some re-organizing after the acquisition of the past year was completed. so it means some colleagues have moved to another department. i was called asking if i was going to make it there. i said i wanted to pick up a box of envelopes that had been delivered to the branch. the fargo checks were nearly finished printing by then as well. i don't think i have had their pizza that often but it was fine. i had the supreme because the pepperoni was taken by the time i got there. and i had bottled water with it. i was still able to get caught up on my normal duties by the late afternoon running of the envelope stuffer so not a big deal. in the evening i went on a walk and found 26 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when amy was upset when the friends went dress shopping without her. so then she is weepy and plays an REM song on her harp, then sheldon and leonard find her drunk in a liquor store parking lot. i like this one a lot because it is proof of how funny amy can be. it was followed by the one where sheldon tries to seduce amy as a 'rat pack pee wee herman'.

laundromat wi-fi
my boss wanted me to see if it was possible for me to request check printing remotely, and it was. just a matter of knowing the wi-fi provider's user-id and password. so i went to a nearby laundromat to get it done. just needed to print two files, and a colleague was in the shop to confirm it went through. then i made it into the shop for most of the workday. as expected, saw less traffic when trying the commute a little later. i chatted with the branch manager a little after my lunch ended, as i went to the ATM. looks like the tax checks were picked up from the lockbox, but as for the next time i have yet to hear what is to be done. the tax specialist is waiting to hear from his superiors about finding another courier to get them delivered. on facebook i found out a fellow comic has an ice cream cart, and sometimes will be selling before st. paul saints baseball games. hopefully on the same night when i am attending. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon's mom visits and he seems to get sick on purpose so his mom can fuss over him. it was followed by the one where amy lied to sheldon about her apartment so she could spend more time with him. and the dudes are speaking in klingon while the ladies speak in amy's language.

sanctuary movie
in the afternoon i went to see the movie 'sanctuary' in roseville. this was after i had finished doing the laundry. before the movie i ate at the cane's chicken near the mall, and saw displays about famous people who had went to ramsey high school in roseville, which closed in 1986. this included actress loni anderson from 'WKRP'. this movie apparently had been at film festivals. it did look like an art film as it was filmed in just one hotel room and there was a small cast. it was about a denver dominatrix and her client, a man who was inheriting his father's business. although the things that a domme are known for-the whips, chains, and dark outfits- are not in this movie. it did keep me guessing until the end, so it did live up to being classified as a thriller. after the movie i went to have a smores blizzard at dairy queen, also in the mall. then i stopped to get pictures of two statues on university and snelling, a charlie brown and a linus. one was outside a bar with a skeleton hanging from the sign. then it was on to grand old day, i parked on a street just a few blocks from it. i didn't stay for long, made it to the car show at a sinclair gas station. not many cars left by then, but there was a citroen and a hudson. i was home long enough to have some pizza, then it was on to perform at an open-mic. one of the stories told was about entering my car from the passenger side, then i went home again as i was tired. during my walks i found 1 dollar 56 cents.

yogi berra movie, carousel ride
i saw the first screening of the day for the yogi berra documentary movie, 'it aint over', at the edina southdale theater. i liked being able to park close, in the ramp, because of being there early. i had been to yogi's museum in the new jersey suburbs on a side trip from NYC. some of what was covered in this movie was familiar from visiting the museum. i liked seeing some footage from interviews on various TV shows, even going back to the days of ed murrow. the movie tried to argue that yogi was an overlooked and underrated baseball player. but i find this hard to believe, with all of the MVP and world series wins. i think this is due to the movie starting off with fans not voting him as one of the greatest living players at an all-star game, near the end of his life in 2015. there is depictions of the ceremonies for the presidential medal of freedom and the postage stamp, although both of those were posthumous. i saw the medal at the museum and i have bought the stamps. i was familiar with his second stint as yankees manager, and some of the TV commercials, and both were covered in this movie. although i was not familiar with all of the commercials. liked seeing a wide variety of interviews with those who knew him, some of those interviewees died before the movie was released. no surprise how there was clips of the cartoon bear as well. and i liked seeing st. louis depicted in it, the city of his boyhood. a few times i laughed, or pointed at things i agreed with. for the latter it was in reference to being fired as manager, and the owner not giving the news himself. i am thankful i saw this movie. i have seen plenty of baseball movies at theaters- documentary or otherwise. this was probably the first since the two about moe berg, paul rudd played berg in one and the other was a documentary. it was midday by the time the movie was done, and i ate at panda express in the mall.
then it was on to union depot where i saw the train days exhibit. i had been there before, but i still like going again, seeing these trains that are now in museums. and there was a photography exhibit in the main building as well. then it was on to como zoo and i did the carousel ride. i don't think i had done it before, as the souvenir shop inside wasn't familiar at all. i bought some postcards, a button, and a CD of the music played on the carousel, after the ride. i was beaming when i saw others riding it. and it was great when i was riding it as well. i recall a carousel being in 'catcher in the rye', when holden takes his sister, phoebe, on one and it mentions the song 'oh marie!' is playing. loved the artwork in the carousel, and not just on the horses. i pointed at people while riding who were filming it, and even tried doing the lt. dan scream in 'forrest gump' like i do on the carpet slide except i was enjoying it too much to be screaming. so only three dollars to ride, it was worth it! and it was a good idea to make it the last of the three events of the day. when i got home i got groceries at aldi, after i laid down for a little while. then the Fox baseball game was on, but the twins lost to cleveland 4-2. during my walks i found 50 cents.

walgreen survey rewards
this evening when i logged into hotmail i saw mention of rewards from the surveys i do for walgreen. so i chose the amazon gift card as i place orders there from time to time. and of course i have the loyalty program when i shop here, getting a dollar off an order when i have enough points. part of my weekend will be checking what orders arrived, but i know some orders take longer than others. at work i did an online class in the morning. there were two due at the end of the month and both are done now. in the evening i went to hy-vee in eagan for my weekly grocery order, just nine items. later on i went on a walk and found 48 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when brent spiner was a guest star, at wil wheaton's party. it was followed by the one where leonard is penny's 'change daddy' when she is signing autographs at a convention. i added two more entries to the contest for 'the flash' movie so now i am up to eight. no surprise how the contest runs two more weeks, until the movie premieres. so i will likely be adding some more entries.

camera phone and laptop
guess the team huddle was moved back due to me not being there on wednesday. it led to me being asked to show pictures of my laptop at home on my camera phone to find out if i have wi-fi there. i don't know if i do because i have been using a modem and plugging everything into the wall. probably the first time using the camera phone on this smartphone that i got a year and a half ago. the newer business line had 12 checks, two were return to business line, one of them going to cedar rapids. there was two where i had to ask about the address. one i corrected to torrance although it said san diego. the system wasn't recognizing the city based on the street address. that one was fine to ship. the other was meant for west virginia but had ohio on it, i was asked to pull that one after creating the overnight label but i hadn't dropped it in the box yet. i had to void the label so we weren't charged for it. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 52 cents. i drank a can of modelo with the evening meal so now three beers are waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj met deaf emily. it was followed by the one where raj and stuart were caught using howard and bernadette's hot tub. i added four entries to the contest so now it is up to six. some of those were polls or logging onto a facebook page for the show.
