i went to another movie at the grand-view theater in st. paul tonight, 'blood simple'. it is part of the month's 'darkness on the edge of town' series. i recognized frances mcdormand and dan hedaya in it. this was the debut movie for the coens. i had seen some of their movies before. this was about the bar owner's wife having an affair with one of the employees, then the bar owner wants them killed. it takes place in texas. it was from the 1980s so some things look dated, especially the rotary dial phones and the public pay phones. i noticed one of the songs at the bar was 'sweet dreams' by patsy cline. at work the system was still running slow for a while but i just decided some things needed to be done a little earlier. thankfully it seemed back to normal by later in the day. i discovered an odd thing about the canadian files. i went to print one of those files in the afternoon and there was two files, one of them from monday. that was a holiday but i didn't know it was there. usually it ends up at the top of the dashboard saying 'prior day incomplete files'. so they still went out, just a few days late. the nice thing about getting out a little earlier is hearing the 5pm surprise on a radio station, 97.1. today it was three songs about the same day. it was 'sunday morning' by no doubt, and maroon 5, then 'bloody sunday' by U2. in the morning i heard a song for newsboy hat's ice cream business, based on 'ice ice baby' by vanilla ice, on 94.5. after the movie i went on a walk and found 64 cents. i drank the can of bauhaus with the evening meal, and this week got a can of 'resistance is futile' so there still are three beers waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj got a dog and bernadette said 'metrosexual my ass'. sheldon broke a star trek toy. it was followed by the one where amy plays 'soft kitty' on auto-harp for sheldon, after sheldon goes to a cowboy bar.
