at midday i went to the mcdonald's in mendota heights and had the 'grimace's birthday meal'. it was a choice between the big mac and the chicken nuggets, i chose the nuggets. the drink was a purple shake, hence the name as grimace is purple. when the order was delivered to my table i had to ask where the fries were, as i understood it was a meal. so the fries were brought out as well. i do recall the 'mcdonald-land' characters, besides just ronald, so i like the fast-food chain honoring their history. the original plan was to eat at the strawberry festival in cottage grove, but when i got there all i saw was some carnival rides and games. it didn't look like anyone was even selling a festival button. and it looked like one had to get a special card for electronic payments, for probably the food too. i don't think there were many food choices there anyway. so i left after a brief walk around the area. guess it would have been a better idea to go on saturday, but i was already booked that day. no longer a big deal to me when plans change, sometimes things are a 'no-go'. after lunch i printed some event tickets at the copy store. i also laid down and rested for a while once i got home. i watched '60 minutes' as there was an interview with the band red hot chili peppers. the band's 'blood sugar' album was the first CD i ever bought, while at college in iowa city. and i saw them in concert with foo fighters in 2000 in bloomington, indiana. and i am familiar with how some of the band members have appeared in movies from time to time. later in the evening there was some shouting just outside my window, looks like the police eventually arrived. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 11 cents.
