usually, checking postal mail when i get home is meaningless, as many days there is no mail at all. but this time, it was different because the iowa alumni magazine was there. and i was thrilled, but still a little stunned, that my letter was published. i wrote it in march and i gave permission right away to have it used once the publisher expressed interest in using it. i am trying to think of why i wrote it in march, after reading a year's worth of back issues. unless it was read on those days when i missed work in late february due to illness. guess i did do well on sharing highlights of my time at the university, inspired by the articles i had seen about various venues having anniversaries or mention of big concerts there over the years. at work the envelope order for the month arrived in the morning. about half of the pay-stubs were run through, would have been more but the machine chokes on copy paper more than the check stock. and it was jamming a lot, to the point where i eventually set it up as stuff the envelope but do not seal it. and i was given some more to do near the end of the day. i performed at an open-mic in the evening and was on near the end of the night. i did some more bank stories and mention of my college roommate being in town. later on i went on a walk and found 26 cents. also notable about performing was hearing a song from the jukebox as i was leaving the venue, it was 'allison road' by the gin blossoms. and it was raining as i went to my car. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when we met penny's friend, the whore of omaha. and it ends with the friends playing video games while they ignore penny and her friends showing up. it was followed by the one where levar burton guest stars on 'fun with flags', where sheldon ends the show and then beings it back. the others clean out a retired colleague's office.
