mid-morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'the old way'. i recognized nicolas cage in it. this was a western, and it claims it was the first western that cage did. it was about hunting down the men that had killed his wife, as well as teaching his young daughter how to shoot a gun. notable was when the girl was in his mercantile shop. she decides to clean the jellybeans and then puts them in canning jars, sorting them by color. westerns still usually work for me, as it tends to be clear who the good guys and bad guys are. once it was done it was lunchtime, and i had the urge to eat at mall of america. so i did, at the a and w. later on i had a scoop of ice cream at a place where i get airline miles. i walked around most of the mall, it gave me ideas about where to stop on a day off at the end of the calendar year. i found what my college roommate likely spoke of which was a 100-yen shop that reminded him of japan. except i just did a quick look through, not much of interest to me on the first look. maybe the souvenir coin machine in the back. i watched some of the pro football games of the day but not a lot. bucs beat the vikings, packers beat the bears. 'simpsons' was not on in the evening, there was a promo at the end of the football broadcast lasting a full minute about the season premiere three weeks later. during my walks i found 77 cents.
