i was driving home after a meetup picnic, much like last year it was at phalen park in st. paul. i had the radio on and 89.3, the current, was playing 'a to z'. i was so moved by the song i was hearing that i had to listen to the end of it before leaving my car. a google search on the lyrics said it was 'fireworks' by first aid kit, two sisters from sweden. i was hooked even before i heard 'beach in chicago'. an article i found said the act was inspired by ballads from yester-year, by the everly brothers as well as skeeter davis. i see myself ordering this CD sometime soon from amazon. the retired postal worker did not make it to the picnic as it was raining a lot. i was getting bored hearing somebody talk about the election to someone else near me. eventually i just got up after i had eaten and walked around the park a little, going to the part honoring their sister city in china and mention of gifting them some charlie brown statues. when i got back i spoke with an older lady who had retired from the same bank i currently work for. normally i don't want to talk shop away from work, but it sure beats the election. i brought a small vegetable tray from cub foods and ended up eating many of the carrots from it. since it was a day off it was nice to watch 'jeopardy'. then after watching a 'young sheldon' rerun i was out the door again, this time to the saints stadium. there was a delay to get the field ready after all of the rain, more than an hour. i went to the souvenir shop and bought two items with the saints logo on it, a patch as well as a golf ball. i walked through the museum after it. saints lost 11-0, playing the braves team from suburban atlanta. there still was a fireworks show after the game, but not food trucks. considering i had eaten plenty at the picnic it was just as well. notable songs from the stadium included ones by simon and garfunkel, zac brown band, and mellencamp. during my walks i found 48 cents.
