i liked not having all that much to do for the day. in the morning i got a haircut at great clips. and in the afternoon i went to a minnesota lynx basketball game, against the indiana fever. the u of iowa alumni chapter made it one of their events as caitlin clark plays for the fever. i was rooting for a good game, and it stayed close throughout. largest lead i think for either team was 7 points, and it was tied numerous times. indiana won, 81-74. a good view from the top of the lower level, except i told myself i was there to watch the action on the court and not the video board. it meant looking down instead of straight ahead as the video board in this venue, the target center in minneapolis, is big. i was in the group pic on the court after the game and said 'i feel like forrest gump' getting into the picture. after leaving the court i said 'worth it!' about the entire experience. i still had some popcorn with me that i had claimed, but i finished it before leaving the venue. i rode the light rail to and from the game, but had to walk a little, as the end of the line was the vikings stadium due to construction over the weekend. i made it to a bar where the alumni chapter was meeting and had some pizza that was provided to us, and ordered a beer, a pabst. i found the event coordinator and got the story of how the ticket became available. there was a 3-ticket order but one of them had to cancel. i also found the chapter president, who i had traded emails with to get the ticket ordering squared away. we were in a back room this time at cowboy jack's, called the barn. when i rode the light rail home after the game i was next to two young ladies who had traveled from winnipeg, canada, to see the game. they were wearing indiana fever shirts. in the evening i went on a long walk around the neighborhood, up to a gas station where i bought a fruit pie, a bottle of gatorade, and the st. paul paper. during my walks i found 1 dollar 52 cents. this week i also drank the can of wandering leaf and got a can of natural ice from a nearby liquor store, so four beers are still waiting.
