green bean?

i was called 'green bean' by a neighbor when i got home after work this evening. request is to do the show tonight in costume, so i will get out the one i own. i've done a show in costume before, but it has been a while. looks like the world series game is rained out tonight. when i was switching channels that is what was on the screen. i got plenty of pictures at the show of performers in costume, one of them had angel wings. i had the 'scream' costume, have had it for a while. notable about my set was the two food stories. after the show i went on walk and found 31 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when leonard met an attractive lady at the comic book shop but was too honest with her. it was followed by the halloween episode where sheldon is in costume as the doppler effect. at work i was taking mail across the street to the post office at the end of the day, as it was for the postmaster, and saw a metal shelving unit. this had been out for a while, would see it on walks to walgreen. it was closer to the start of my walk so after i re-crossed the road i picked it up and put it in the dumpster. light enough to carry as it was a single wire shelf.

bandit movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'bandit'. i recognized mel gibson in it. this was based on a true story of a bank robber in canada, who committed 59 robberies. had to laugh when the crime boss reacted to boy george and the song 'karma chameleon', as it is typical of the generation gap. i not only liked seeing how he pulled off a heist with various disguises, but also the epilogue about the main characters. as there is mention of what happened to the lead investigator as well. it was just after midday when the movie was done, and it was time for lunch. i went to mall of america to have pizza, my visit was to sbarro for a slice of pepperoni. then it was on to dairy queen for a pumpkin pie blizzard. i liked seeing some dancing going on in the rotunda, including somebody in a colonel sanders costume. it was nice not having much to do today. i went to get a can of pabst at the nearby liquor store, and this week had a can of modelo with dinner, so there still are 6 beers waiting. in the evening i went to cheapo and got a baseball DVD, discussing the 9 best plays and records in various categories. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 76 cents.

lantern tour, shakopee

in the evening i did a meetup event at the landing in shakopee, a history-type place. it was a lantern tour. i had been to this venue once before, for a civil war weekend something like 10 years ago where there was  a lincoln impersonator. there were small lanterns, and the tour guide had a larger one. i like visiting with the guide assigned to the later tour before my tour began, he spoke of being from suburban chicago. the tour lasted for just over an hour, and the candle light started flickering near the end of it so the lantern performed well in the given time allotment. i was getting annoyed with an older man who was trying too hard to be funny with the tour guide. i prefer to let the guide give the tour. i try not to talk much on history tours as i know i learn more when i listen more. found out this preservation village was created in the 1960s and 70's. first building we were in was lived in by a founder of minneapolis and a member of the university board of regents. after the tour was done i drove home and it took a while to find the world series on the radio. i had to go over to the AM side. game two, houston was leading 3-0 when i tuned in, and got a home run to go up 5-0 during the drive home. then i watched the rest of the game on TV, and houston went on to beat philadelphia 5-2 to even the series. i did try to meet the group at a restaurant about 2 miles from the tour venue, but when i got there the host didn't know of any meetup groups there. i went to the bar and got sticker shock on the food prices, so i left and went to jersey mike's, a nearby sandwich shop. this place was on my mind as i keep seeing the TV ads with danny devito in it. of course the day was also about chores and errand running. i visited 2 grocery stores, hy-vee around midday and aldi a few hours later, after i had eaten lunch. and i made it to the post office, 2 orders to pick up. dropped off recycle near the capitol, and there was a 'get out the vote' concert in the parking lot of the former sears store. i recognized the names of many of the lady comics scheduled to perform. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 59 cents.

tax specialist envelopes

notable about the day at work was sending 2 envelopes to the lockbox for the tax specialist. three if you count the one that is being held until monday. i was asked if the one from the morning was still in the box, when i sent the second one at midday, and it was. near the end of the day when i said there is a third i was wished a good weekend. i said i would be watching the world series. found out he is as well. and said he hopes it isn't a sweep by either team. otherwise i got caught up on running checks through the machine and in the morning i finally put out a maintenance kit for recycling, sending by UPS ground. i got the paper, and a burger, at a holiday gas station. then it was home to watch the series, game one. houston was ahead early, and with the way verlander was pitching i figured it was going to be a tall order for philadelphia. but the phils tied it 5-5 by the game's midpoint and it stayed that way until the end of regulation, when the phils won 6-5 on a solo homer in the 10th. i watched 'big bang theory' reruns before it. this was when howard and bernadette had baby number one. it was followed by the one where the friends go to san francisco on the train and sheldon had to ask penny to get his flash drive. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 24 cents. i was tired but i managed to watch the series just fine. it helped that i stayed in my easy chair and didn't lay down.

stay puft and sponge bob

after work i saw some kids in halloween costumes. near the dairy queen it was a stay puft marshmallow man from 'ghostbusters'. when i went to fill up at the gas station it was sponge bob. it is hard to know what trick or treat nights are in most places, i know in my native state of iowa they usually had 'beggars night' on the night before halloween as long as it wasn't friday because they wanted to avoid conflicts with high school football games. at work the back-order of check stock arrived just before midday. and there was just one unopened box of check stock when it arrived. it was after our dial-in team huddle, where my boss had asked about it. nice that the courier had a cart so i only had to bring in half of the 26 boxes on my own cart. i had 2 visitors right after returning from lunch, one had sent an I.M. wanting  to pick up a check. the other was dropping off the refund checks. in the evening i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 26 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when christopher lloyd was a guest star as a tenant brought in by sheldon. it was followed by the one where penny shot the cushion in sheldon's spot. i wrote out my schedule during the first four games of the world series, and i am booked on two of those nights. but even on those 2 nights i should still be able to watch a decent amount of the game. i am aware of previous years where i was unable to watch a game here and there, such as if i was acting at a haunted house.

ghost stories, zoom meeting

i finally did a meetup event with a writers group i joined a while back. it was an open-mic night where the theme was ghost stories, likely due to the halloween season. didn't have one but i shared some halloween memories. one was actually from summer camp, where we heard a ghost story. also about acting at a haunted house, wearing a costume at a party, twin cities live, and a chainsaw while waiting in line as a patron at a haunted house. it was a small group in this zoom meeting. the moderator asked about low-scare haunted houses, i said one could likely be found online. i had the TV on, low volume, during the meeting, but i didn't get much out of 'the conners' until the meetup event was done. it was a halloween episode, and it was nice to see louise, because even after she married dan we don't see her that much. at work it looks like the back order on the check stock may be arriving soon. and not a moment too soon as we are nearly out of what is on the reserve table.  tech arrived for the envelope stuffer in the morning, i was given the replaced springs as souvenirs. i had a weird dream, i was back in my hometown and saw two classmates and told both to 'go away', but one of them wanted to talk anyway. i know full well why i had this dream, as the class reunion i didn't attend was this year. we are definitely in transition on the seasons. as i saw an email about holiday lights at the saints baseball stadium. it starts just before thanksgiving and ends on new year's day. i have attended non-baseball events at the stadium, now i will have to figure out when i am seeing the event. after work i picked up another box of dunkin donuts cereal from CVS. a little surprised that i am still finding it somewhere. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 40 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon was hurting himself, related to bert's success. it was followed by the one where the friends do 'under the bridge' on what looks like to be guitar hero, and leonard's mom visits,

air can needed

just before midday i went to two nearby businesses. first was walgreen as i found out they did have an air can i needed for work. i misjudged how much i needed when doing the monthly supply order and had just ran out. store manager said it was behind counter. then it was on to dairy queen, where i got a vanilla cone. i had enough small change for one. first visit to that location in a while. although late in the day the envelope stuffer kept jamming so i had to call for service. hopefully it was purely coincidental. there was another question about what was done on my day off, this time an inter-office envelope. at first i didn't recognize the date, but i did start off with we are unable to track them. looks like all of the world series games are in the evening, so i will try to plan my schedule accordingly. it means staying in friday, the night of the opener, not a big deal. anything i normally do that day can be moved back. a good reminder of it was while watching 'monarch' on Fox as the promo for the next episode said 'in two weeks'. the show is still very much a soap opera. liked seeing a rendition of 'i love a rainy night' by eddie rabbitt. later on i went on a walk and found 59 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when amy said to sheldon 'you are being ridiculous' as rat pack pee wee herman. it was followed by the one where sheldon lent money to penny and we see penny's ex again.

failure memoir

when i was looking online for more books in he 'lyle crocodile' series i found another book of interest. i entered 'funny lyle' on e-bay and got a 'book of failures' by amy lyle, a 'funny memoir'. as a comic this one interests me, so it is going on my list. there are nine in the crocodile series, for the five i don't have yet it was surprising how they seemed to be more available and cheaper at e-bay than amazon. i will not order them all at once, as i usually just place 1-2 orders per week on these sites. with amazon i often use gift cards. at work i had to say it is way easier to get some letters out the door same-day when i don't have to print them. and if they arrive early enough in the day, on friday they were near the end of the day so i let them roll over to the next day. my boss was copied on the thread, and this led to them arriving well before midday. in the evening i performed at an open-mic, first in the lineup as most people don't want to go first. notable was the story about walking past a gun shop. as i was leaving the venue the jukebox was playing a taylor swift song from the new album, 'anti-hero'. during the show there was a ukulele player from pittsburgh, who performed 'come on eileen'. later on i went on a walk and found 3 dollars 66 cents. i made another visit to the liquor store near my home and got a can of hamm's, and a can of michelob, from the discount cart so now 6 beers are waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends speak in klingon related to co-habitation, penny is moving out leonard's stuff. it was followed by the one where sheldon tries to bond with kripke and they go rock climbing.

lyle crocodile movie

this afternoon i went to see the movie 'lyle crocodile' at the st. paul highland park theater. i had read those books as a kid. and i have four of them in the series- besides this one i also have 'at the office', 'lovable', and 'birthday party'. i went to e-bay to look for what movie merchandise is available and found out there is even more books in the series. not too surprising how some things were added and changed to the story compared to the book. this has been done with other kid's books in order to get it up to movie length. the movie impressed me enough when it was clever, as i kept track of how often it got a 'single but loud' laugh out of me. it was twice. first was when we see the primm family dressed up as florida gator fans, along with the crocodile. the other was playing the song 'crocodile rock' by elton john. the core story, what is familiar, is still there, along with the characters. the primm family, the grumpy neighbor and his cat, and the 'star of stage and screen'. thankful i went to see it. this was the third weekend it was at theaters. i don't go on premiere weekend, and there was another movie i wanted to see last week. i moved up doing laundry so i could get to the first screening of the day. and the TV was off for most of the day, easier to get things done online. i was reading through garrison keillor's 'writers almanac' and found out there is  a german- american day this month, honoring those who settled in germantown, pa, in 1683. the town has since been annexed by philadelphia. i picked up a can of beer from the nearby liquor store, a micro-brew called 'inbound', so now 4 beers are waiting. during my walks i found 4 dollars 7 cents.

emily the criminal movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'emily the criminal'. i did not recognize any of the actors in it but i was still captivated by the story. as we all know, i do like thrillers, and conman movies. i was guessing emily as being from boston, based on her accent, but she was from new jersey. she works for a catering company due to a felony conviction and has plenty of student loan debt. it leads to becoming  part of a credit card fraud ring. when i saw zip ties and box cutters being used, it reminded me of my own line of work. emily swears at both interviews she is depicted at, and i was sympathetic at the first one as it seemed like she was being tricked by the interviewer. of course after a while, she is 'in too deep' with the fraud ring. the friend that she dog-sits for adds some to the story, but not a lot. as usual i watched the closing credits and noticed there was a dvorak song listed. i have been to the dvorak museum in iowa, same building as the bily clocks.

the movie was done early as i wanted to be home fairly early to watch a football game. the iowa hawkeyes were playing at ohio state, starting at 11m local time. i stopped at the post office, two orders picked up there. i went to two cub foods locations, the cereal i was looking for wasn't at the first one. but i did dump the movie there. the cereal was found at the second one, same place i visited a week earlier. so now i have the boxes of halloween-themed frosted flakes and froot loops. when i got home it was late in the first quarter, iowa trailing 13-7. iowa lost 54-10, so it didn't get any better during my time watching it. i laid down for a little while, then went to aldi for my weekly grocery order. then a baseball game was starting on Fox, phils-padres, won by the phils 10-6. it was 4-3 at the end of the 1st inning, padres scored only 2 more after the 1st. later on i went on a walk and found 74 cents.

gun shop price matching

i was taking a walk after lunch and near my workplace there is a gun shop. in the window there was  a sign saying 'ask about price matching'. first time i had heard about it for weapons, usually i hear about it with grocery stores accepting coupons from competitors. i don't own any weapons, but this sure sounded odd. so i took a picture of it. at work i got caught up on running checks through the machine. there was a new business line to print checks from, over 300, the one i had just done test checks for this week. i wanted a green light from my boss before printing, as i wanted to do it right. so we had a quick call late in the day and it got done. actually the same code as another business line, but a different name. all of them said 'deceased', and most were 100 dollars or less. in the evening i went to hy-vee in eagan for my weekly grocery order. first stop was to their liquor store, where i got another can of schell's, so now there are 3 beers waiting. a hockey game had just started when i left to go to the grocery store, it was st. cloud vs. mankato. it was 2-2 at the end of the 2nd when i returned, but i opted to watch 'blue bloods' instead of see the end of the game. later on i went on a walk and found 67 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon and amy had some warm-up dinner guests. it was followed by the one where the friends have a robot that destroys a toaster oven, but gets destroyed by kripke's robot.

come work with us

i got an email from an organization that said 'come work with us', detailing various jobs available. except i already did, and was cut more than 2 years ago. and i like the work i am doing now. so i will have to pass on this one. it is a reminder of some email lists i can probably unsubscribe from. and how i still see some responses from indeed about applications i had filed over 2 years go as well. at work the backlog went down on running checks through as expected. i was asked to intercept one, just before i was to run it through. not too late, but it would have been real soon. there was instant messages about checks to be returned to the business line in kansas city. at first the response i got was 'i don't understand' and i said 'take it up with them'. this was before i had printed anything, before i went to lunch. i was in the testing system, waiting for a fix on test checks that had printed blank on the first attempt. i get back from lunch and find out three of them  said 'care of this office' so i was sending them to the address on the check. 7 checks in all were returned to the business line, 3 from that line, 3 'in care of' that does replacement checks, and 1 that was a returned check from trying to overnight it to the payee. in the evening i drank the can of coors light with dinner so now 2 beers are waiting. later on i went on a walk and found 98 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard and bernadette caught raj and stuart using their hot tub. and when sheldon and amy decide to share a toothbrush holder. it was followed by the one where leonard said 'we're not living together' about dating dr. stephanie. i laughed a lot at this one. i also did some surgery on the meetup groups i am in, cutting one because i don't like the new organizer. it was replaced with one that is a larger group, and i knew about it due to suggestions in an email from meetup. sometimes it is addition by subtraction. a group is slated to go away soon, in less than 3 weeks, as it currently has no organizer. i understand that someone has to pay fees to meetup to keep a group going.

kid wants plastic wrap

i was dropping off some UPS packages on the way home and saw a kid who kept picking up a roll of plastic wrap for 7 dollars. and the mom said we can't afford it. or was it that they didn't need it? i sent the envelopes there as i still wanted them to go out same-day. i spent much of the day getting caught up from being out of the office. of course still being down to one check printer doesn't help. it was likely why over 2,000 checks were waiting to be run through, and there was nearly one full tub still in the shop as well. near the end of the day i was asked to join a dial-in meeting, the business line from kansas city. it was about checks that went out the previous day, some shouldn't have i guess. i actually said i am allowed to take a day off, it was the first time in over a month. the boss asked about the check printer, but called, was working from home due to gout. after getting home i was switching between 'the conners' and a baseball game. once the sitcom was done i went back to the game, but it was finished shortly after that. it was the league championship, phils-padres, won by the padres 8-5. later on i went on a walk and found 57 cents. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when leonard was dating dr. stephanie and sheldon changed his relationship status on facebook.

empire builder poems

i went to an event at the loft literary center in minneapolis this evening. i left with a pamphlet that had poems about the empire builder- the man (james j hill) and the train that was named for him, as well as other trains. after some chatting as well as food and drink, i was one of those who read at the open-mic in the auditorium. i did one about the nightly walks i do. i was second on the lineup. there were some who found me after it was done and said they liked it. i got that feeling as i heard a few laughs while i was reading it, although i wasn't trying to be funny at all. this was probably the first event i did there since covid hit. i had a day off from work due to having an appointment for a physical, around midday. i went to target mid-morning to pick up two items, one was the 'top gun' soundtrack on CD and the other was rice krispies halloween cereal. i saw four different kinds of taylor swift CDs when i was in the music section. i have one of taylor's discs, the one called '1989'. after the appointment, where i also got a flu shot, i had lunch at home. and i wrote out the poem i did later in the day, walking most of the route to see i captured all of what i wanted to write about. after the event i had a hot dog and a smoothie from the nearby bobby and steve's. avril lavigne's 'skater boy' was playing while there. then i got back on the light rail. 'monarch' had just started when i got home. later on i went on a walk and found 81 cents.

ambitious open-mic traveler

i was at the bar tonight, just got a beer, and ready to perform at the open-mic. show runner tells me i am moved down in the lineup so a visitor from california can go earlier. not a big deal, though it has been  a while since i was asked to change the performance time. this young man spoke of an ambitious plan to visit 50 open-mics in 50 states, or was it 50 days? first song was with somebody wearing a concordia shirt, but all the other dude did was jump around. second song was just the visitor by himself. notable about my set was seeing an electrician's van. at work i did my best to get caught up on things as i have a day off for an appointment. it meant two items for the neighboring building were put in a different envelope and returned to sender. i checked the building and there was no office for the strip mall, and the other was for a hair cutting place that has closed. it is not the only business there that has closed since the pandemic began. it sounds like parts are bring ordered for the check printer, but no mention of when they might arrive. after the open-mic i went on a walk and found 64 cents. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when sheldon said to penny she was banned, '3 strikes and you are out'.

dead for a dollar movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'dead for a dollar'. willem dafoe was in it, as a gambler recently released from prison. it is a western, taking place in new mexico and mexico. it is about a bounty hunter hired to find a man who had deserted the army an was holding a woman for ransom. i found a review saying it was a 'hurry up and wait' story, and i concur. as the showdowns were talked about for a while and it felt like the movie was moving at a slow pace. i have seen some better westerns than this one. there was a body count, and it seemed that most of the cast ended up shot at some point or another. there was an 'epilogue' about the few that survived. i didn't watch much of the pro football games, and this was fine with me. i find that it is easier to get other things one when the TV is off. i placed an order with e-bay, as well as amazon. and i reviewed my monthly bank statement, a little behind on doing so. i watched 'the simpsons' in the evening, about a daytime talk show. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 6 cents.

running the bases movie

this afternoon i went to see the movie 'running the bases' in mounds view. i decided to see it not only because it was a baseball movie, but also due to multiple postings from a facebook friend saying he was in the movie. and he was, in a small role as the preacher. notable was how i passed by another AMC movie theater, in roseville, on the way to this one. i had seen some faith-based movies before, so this wasn't a new thing to me. first time in theaters probably. one of the players is always telling jokes, and i might be a comic as well, but it didn't do much for me. i think because he reminded me of comics i don't enjoy being around, those who don't know when to 'turn it off'. as expected, i liked the baseball part more than the religion. not a big crowd there at this screening, i was just one of five. and this was just one of two screenings for the day. and the only theater in the metro area showing it. this was why i finally saw it, as i knew i was running out of time. i also didn't see it listed at redbox, so i knew i couldn't count on finding it there a little later. i didn't mind the drive to and from there. on the way back i stopped at har-mar mall in roseville and found a box of halloween cereal at cub foods that was on my list-apple jacks. two others were there, but i am pacing myself on how much i get per week. especially when i already had four unopened boxes. around midday i went to a target where i got some cheese and egg nog. the cereal i was looking for wasn't there. i also went to the post office, one e-bay order was picked up. in the early evening i went to aldi for my weekly grocery order. later on i went on a walk and found 51 cents. i picked up a redbox rental movie as well, it will be watched the next day.

leaving on a jet plane

this morning on the way to work i was listening to the new prague radio station as usual, which has the 'live music friday' segment. i learned something, as one song played was 'leaving on a jet plane'. it was introduced as a john denver song. i had to look it up, and john did record it but his version wasn't a hit. the version by peter paul and mary was a number 1 hit. i recall this song from music class in junior high. of course it is kind of a sad song, as it is about somebody leaving. at work two technicians arrived, but not at the same time. in the morning it was for the envelope stuffer, and i was able to get mostly caught up on running checks through after it was operational again. in the afternoon it was for the check printer, and it doesn't sound good. something bout needing to replace the mother board, or the entire unit, as it is 'out of warranty'. i offered a chair to the latter tech from the 'back room', who at first sat on a cart. in the evening i went to the hy-vee in eagan for my weekly grocery order. although it was a smaller order than typical, just 6 items. it was 7 if you count the visit to their liquor store first. i got a can of schell's, so now there are 3 beers waiting. later on i went on a walk and found 91 cents. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when we meet ramona, who likes sheldon, and the song 'be my yoko ono' is played.

same radio station

i was trying to find out where i could watch or listen to the football game tonight, as the bears were playing washington. it said it was westwood one, and going online it didn't list an affiliate in the twin cities. so i turned on my radio and it was already there. guess it is the same radio station as the st. paul saints baseball games, the last time i had turned it on. it was scoreless when i joined, near the end of the first half. washington got a field goal just before halftime, then i fell asleep and found out the bears lost. at work i ran plenty of checks through the envelope stuffer in the morning, but then i couldn't get it off the ground in the afternoon. so i had no choice to call for service, but knew no technician would be arriving until the next day. still waiting to hear what is happening about the check printer. at the team huddle, a dial in, it sounds like there may be a business line sending test checks but not sure when. in the evening i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 90 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon's mom and leonard's dad had a nightcap together. penny loved it but the friends hated it. this was followed by the one where sheldon tries to learn how to drive. i drank the can of hamm's with the evening meal, and over the weekend got a can of coors light, so there still are 2 beers waiting.

cereal at cvs

after work i made another stop at a CVS as i wanted more dunkin donuts cereal. it is becoming harder to find, as this is the fourth i have been to if i am not mistaken. i am going online to find out what locations has it. i am still just getting one box at a time, especially a good idea when i already have some boxes of halloween cereal. while there i got a can of half and half, an arnold palmer, as well as a candy bar. at work  a technician arrived in the afternoon for the check printer. but still no resolution yet. i called a supplier in the morning as no check stock had arrived yet, found out no order had been received yet. so i emailed my colleague and copied a senior leader on it. hard to tell but it looks like some check stock will be arriving the next day. had to start asking when most of the rest of the monthly supply order has already arrived. in the evening i went on a walk and found 1 cent. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when raj rode in a limo to the people magazine photo shoot. i found out there was baseball on Fox so after 'the conners' was done it was over to the game, phils-braves, won by the braves 3-0.

charles schulz centennial stamps

during a break at work this morning i went across the road and found the charlie brown stamps i was looking for. these are in honor of the centennial of the birth of charles schulz. this is the third american stamp series honoring the comic strip. there was the one of snoopy as the flying ace in 2001, then the one honoring the 50th anniversary of the christmas special in 2015. i have stamps honoring this comic strip from other nations as well, most recently was the one from germany. the 20-stamp sheet went into a sheet protector once i got home, with the press release. had heard about it due to the announcement on the facebook page from the museum in santa rosa. first day back at work after the holiday wasn't easy. had to open a ticket about one of the check printers. it stopped printing when it ran out of check stock. and it was hard to get the envelope stuffer off the ground as well, as it is throwing the same error as last week, even after having a technician look at it. in the evening i watched 'monarch', and with its storylines it feels like a soap opera. but i do like the music in it. this episode had a lady gaga song, 'born this way', during their depiction of the family's christmas special. later on i went on a walk and found 30 cents. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when penny got hooked on a computer game, where both she and sheldon would say 'AFK'.

vendetta movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'vendetta'. i recognized bruce willis and mike tyson in it. bruce played a crime boss. there was a body count, and i was a little lost about the opening being a birthday party for a young lady that plays softball. this seemed to be a plot hole. it was filmed in georgia. i had a discount code, so thankfully i didn't pay full price. i had the day off for a bank holiday, so i found some things to get done. this included taking recycle to the capitol, and changing a lightbulb that had burned out weeks ago. along with shredding some more junk mail. in the early evening i went on  a meetup walk, it was in a park in st. paul near the st. thomas campus. i had never been to the park before, and we passed by a world war one memorial. later on i performed at an open-mic, where i was introduced as somebody that does social commentary. i said i talk about my own life, but the story about going to new ulm might be considered social commentary. i liked hearing the wild guitar player in a duet, it was adele's 'someone like you'. during my walks i found 82 cents.

46 first ladies play

this evening i went to see the '46 first ladies' play in northeast minneapolis. i had been to this venue before related to the fringe festival. i had seen the companion play, '44 presidents', in 2012 but at a different venue. i liked seeing the 2012 poster on the wall there, among many other shows. it goes fast as there is plenty to cover. after intermission the first one covered was taft. as a standup comic, i liked seeing pierce portrayed as a comic. also liked seeing a sampling of 'girls just want to have fun' for the cleveland segment. did i learn something? probably. i found a performer after the show and said i had seen the fried chicken show during the fringe festival, she was in both. i picked up some godfather's pizza from the bobby and steve's on the way there. i got a decent amount done before going to the play. in the morning it was taking the rental car back to the airport, after having breakfast and filling up the tank. then it was to aldi for my weekly grocery order. i went through the travel souvenirs in the bag and tossed what was trash. around midday i had lunch, and some of it was leftovers i brought back from new ulm. some of the popcorn as well as the german chocolate cake. i was tired so i watched some of the bears-vikings game on TV but fell asleep during the second half. found out later on the bears lost. there was also getting caught up on email, as well as looking at event tickets in the binder. i consolidated it a little more, so now the governor's mansion tour shares a sheet protector with the golf outings i won at work, from 2015. i decided to get some early meetup events onto just one page, freeing up some more space. so now there are 2 sheet protectors waiting to be completely filled. and they likely will be soon. the photo booth strip from this weekend led to me getting it into a photo album, causing me to look for other photos of me that belonged there but were in an envelope. after the play i picked up a redbox rental on the way home and will watch it the next day. during my walks i found 1 dollar 14 cents.

kiesling house, new ulm

i made it to new ulm for my annual visit for oktoberfest. i found out when i got to town about the kiesling house being open for tours. first time i had seen the inside of it. there was a flyer clipped to the popcorn wagon. there was a short video on the upper level and various displays to read. admission was 3 dollars. the day still started with errand running, printed some events i had signed up for at the copy store. this was after picking up the rental car, a black mustang. there was one e-bay order to pick up from the post office, a charlie brown book. i made it to the mcdonald's in little canada for lunch, but they were out of the adult happy meals. i got a bacon double burger. then it was on to the mall in roseville, where i got my annual photo booth strip. and i held up a sign saying i had 3 covid boosters. i didn't enjoy the drive that much due to the road closures. but it was nice when i reached town. the cover band downtown was pretty good, notables was songs by the cranberries, and weezer. as usual i saw the performance at the glockenspiel. after this i did the quick trip over to sleepy eye to see the linus statue. and i found a 6-pack of buddy's soda at a nearby convenience store. when i made it back to new ulm i had some ice cream at the shop in the downtown area, i had the flavor called 'fat elvis'. i saw my brick in german park, and had a beer at turner hall, a bottle of schell's. then it was time to get to the hotel. no surprise how the most money i spent all day was there, to get food and a beer, a grain belt. i arrived at a time when there was a break between music performances, but eventually a band was playing and i went into the ballroom where it was happening. after an hour i got on the road. i knew i might get tired on the way back, but told myself to get as far as i could before needing to take a break. i stopped at the holiday gas station in jordan, and listened to some of the baseball playoff game on the radio while in the parking lot. it was phils-cardinals, cardinals lost so they are eliminated. i was more than halfway home by then and didn't need another break after this. i gathered up my souvenirs, no postcards bought this time, and went inside. all of it fit inside the mcdonald's bag. during my walks i found 42 cents.

listerine bottles

i went to hy-vee in eagan tonight for my weekly grocery order and there was a cart full of bottles of listerine. this seemed odd, how mouthwash would be in a discount cart. i did not buy any but i did get a picture of it. at work i likely waited a little too long to change toner cartridges as i looked at fargo checks coming out and the top had too much ink on some of them. i ended up pulling out and re-printing more than a hundred. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 85 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends went to a cabin and played 'never have i ever'. it was followed by the one where the friends say 'tag you're it', moving sheldon around and then he tells penny's secret to leonard. no mcdonald's happy meal yet but i am working on the strategy of getting one this weekend.

multiple re-routing

during my drive to work this morning i had to re-route twice. first time i saw too much traffic on the road i wanted to merge onto. then it didn't move that great on the one i chose instead. and i had to take a detour when part of a road was closed for construction. it was aggravating, but not much could be done about it. i got caught up on running fargo checks through the machine, aided by a low volume of new ones that arrived for the day. i was emailed from the kansas city business line about re-routing 3 checks as there was a recent address change. two were for a private individual and the other were for a business, but all were going to the same place. it meant using a windowless envelope. the monthly supply order is starting to trickle in, 3 boxes of envelopes were picked up from the branch. i drank the can of pabst with the evening meal so now 2 beers are waiting. later on i went on a walk and found 32 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon showed amy a storage locker of everything he owns. it was followed by the one where penny said 'the cat is alive' after leonard whined 'i fixed it' about penny throwing an i-pod out the window at an ex.

trix-trax cereal

i like to try various cereals when i am doing the weekly grocery order, the latest is 'trix-trax'. i know sometimes a cereal is used to promote a movie, in this case 'jurassic world'. so we see the trix rabbit on the front of the box with a dinosaur. on the back it says 'make a mini-movie with mega size stars'. it means cutting the box, cutting out slots for the phone and dinos. along with folding back on the dotted line to make the dino stand up. at work i held serve on the fargo files, so one of them is still waiting to be sent out due to high volume in the middle of the week. a colleague was researching things in the afternoon across the fence but it was taking a while. then i was told it was due to having the social security number off by a digit. that will make a difference. in the evening i watched 'the conners', but i didn't like seeing darlene being overbearing with her son mark, spying on his college choices and being impossible with learning to drive. but even when the show was known as 'roseanne' i was mainly watching it for john goodman. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends did a contract on a patent. raj was being played by emily, and clare was saying there was a playbook. it was followed by the one where leonard has a surprise birthday party and howard ends up at the ER.

control room mail

at work there was an inter-office envelope from the control room. i didn't know what to do with it so i scanned it to a vacation replacement. i found out they didn't know what to do with it either. this led to me calling the number at the bottom of the cover page, where i got voicemail. so it will sit in limbo until i hear more about it. in the morning the tech arrived for the envelope stuffer. not much to test it with when not many files had arrived yet, but the sensors were cleaned and it was re-calibrated so it seems to be fine now. before that it was hard to get it off the ground when starting to run through a stack of checks. in the afternoon a courier arrived for a check going to the foundation, after saying i needed to know who the courier was and if they were picking it up from me or from the lockbox. as usual i met them at the branch, had them sign an email so i knew who had taken ownership of the check. fargo files arrived late, i had them printed but only one of two went out the door the same day. i watched 'monarch' on Fox tonight after a week off. i called my dad after this but as usual i don't enjoy the call much because he lives in the past and it is hard to remember all of the words that trigger stories of decades ago. later on i went on a walk and found 26 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when adam west was at sheldon's birthday party. it was followed by the one where sheldon's sister visits and the friends all want to date her.

w t heck sodas

this past week i bought 2 bottles of soda at hy-vee in a cart near the check out lanes. these were made by w.t. heck. the flavors i chose were bacon, as well as waffles and syrup. tonight with dinner i had the bacon one, the after-taste wasn't good. i liked the waffle and syrup one more. the label says 'for the discerning drinker', and it is made in spring lake park. the website listed 6 flavors. the other 4 were spaghetti, dill pickle, marshmallow, and blue cheese. i recall the dill pickle one being in the cart, but figured i wouldn't like the taste so i passed on it. and i figured two bottles was enough to try. this is the same section where i once saw the boxes of what looked like movie candy which were labeled as 'discontinued'. at work i had to email the business line late in the afternoon saying some of their checks would not go out unless somebody approves the file. only one of three files had been approved at this point, and i emailed through their overnight request. it got approved so of course i sent the tracking numbers when they were available. i had just enough time to run all of the checks through the machine. in the morning i looked through the returned checks and noticed some of them needed to go to foreign countries. sometimes these aren't filtered out as the postal code is 5 digits. i researched them online based on the address and these four needed to go to canada, austria, germany, and the dominican republic. the first one didn't list the city and province. there was the postal code, a combo of letters and numbers, but there was all zeroes after it. in the evening i went on a walk and found 51 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends did 'baby karaoke' as bernadette is expecting. it was followed by the one where the friends buy a prop from a time machine movie and penny said it looked like elton john drove it through the everglades. i finished getting the recent purchase of baseball cards into binders, what was left was 7 minor league cards. it meant some others, such as record breakers and milestones, were moved to that team's section and out of the 'miscellaneous' binder with all-stars, rookies, and the world series.

locked down movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'locked down'. i recognized anne hathaway, mindy kaling, ben stiller, and ben kingsley in it. this is about a jewelry heist during the pandemic from a department store, in great britain. much of what was depicted looked familiar, such as the zoom meetings. i liked seeing anne drinking wine during one of them. anne's partner reads poetry in the street to their neighbors. i do like seeing a good heist movie, although this is not the typical one which is usually a big gang of people pulling it off. and it is a good joke when the fake identity of one character was edgar allan poe, the writer. another thing i did was go to a 'booya', same venue as the 4th of july picnic. also got some popcorn, had just a single serving cup of booya. it will be memorable for the songs i heard there, by a guitar player. it was 'peaceful easy feeling', margarita-ville', and 'have you ever seen the rain'. i was getting started on my walk down the hill back to my car when i heard the third one starting. i like rain songs, and i looked this one up and found out it was a metaphor. it was about the band's success, that was ending soon since the band's breakup was looming. when i got back to my car i liked seeing a classic corvette nearby, so i got a picture of it. i watched some pro football after i dumped the movie at the gas station, bears playing the giants, bears lost. in the early evening i performed at an open-mic, as usual cul-de-sac liked seeing me and the feeling was mutual. the one with the most reaction was the one about bible references and my dad recommending one. later on i went on a walk and found 27 cents.

both games were on fox

i got started early on errand running his morning as i wanted to be home in time for a college football game on fox that was starting at 11am, it was michigan at iowa. the iowa hawkeyes lost 27-14. nothing to pick up from the post office, hadn't placed an order in the past week. went to the credit union and made two deposits. one was a small check from a class action lawsuit. the other was the quarterly dumping of small change, over 13 dollars, over 5 dollars of it was in pennies. since it was an early start on the football game i decided to scrap going to a booya. but there is another one the next day that interests me. i picked up a redbox movie in the late afternoon and will watch it the next day, used points to make it a free rental. during this second trip of errand running, after the game ended, i also went to the copy store and printed an event announcement. i was from the alumni chapter, for an event next month. then i made it to aldi for my weekly grocery order and when i got home again it was time for the second game on fox. it was baseball, mets playing the braves in atlanta. the braves won 4-2. later on i went on a walk and found 42 cents. i got more of the baseball cards from the recent purchase into binders, more than half are there now.
