bench clearing brawl, then fireworks

in the evening I went to the st. paul saints baseball game, the home finale for this season. I walked around for a little while after arriving, getting pizza and some root beer. also saw Philadelphia native, who is an 'usher-tainer' there- and he got a selfie of the two of us. at the end of the 3rd inning I finally went to my seat on the right field foul line, row one. they were playing Winnipeg, and there was a hard slide into home for the first run, and it erupted into a bench clearing brawl. haven't seen many of these in person. not sure if anyone was ejected, but I saw the home plate umpire point to both dugouts, as a warning. then the saints pitcher eventually plunks a batter, and I he was no doubt ejected. mark hamburger can in and pitched the rest of the game. but the saints couldn't score anything, and they lost to Winnipeg 5-0. all runs were scored before the 'long haired wonder' came in to pitch. there was fireworks after the game, enjoyed chatting a little with the couple next to me, they had two young daughters and the wife had a zip-up hoodie with an iowa hawkeye logo on it. I said I went to the same school.
it was a busy day all around, as I took the day off and went to the Minnesota state fair. I saw a fellow comic at her radio booth, and I went to some of the typical places I like going to. this included having a pork chop on a stick, as well as going to the fine arts building. I capped my time there with the giant slide.

replacement traffic light

as I was taking the bus home in the evening, I get off at my stop and see a smaller traffic light than typical. and there was orange construction cones surrounding it. so I got a photo of it, as I do the Vivian maier thing of getting pictures of nearly everything. I also saw a cop vehicle nearby, and it looks like they had just arrested somebody as he was handcuffed. bot sure if those two things- the light and the man- were related.
at the office, my boss brought in little cakes for my cohort's birthday, and asked me to get the plates for serving, so I did. and I made it to the venue, a set as long as Monday which is nice.

enjoy life softbakes cookies

I got a box of cookies from the discount bin over the weekend at the grocery store. it was 12 cookies for a dollar, kind of small but tasted good.
I made it to the performance venue tonight, but of course it was a shorter set than the night before. but I knew what to cut to stay within the given time frame. so the mention of a travis tritt song stayed in.

chipotle bag

I was taking the bus home tonight and saw in the back how there was a chipotle bag. so having the janitor mentality in me, I picked it up to throw it out at my stop. I was pleased that a dime was found under it, so I picked it up as well and it was thrown into my change bank. at times I still can't believe what I find for trash wherever I go.
at the performance venue, I did ones about 52, 10, 25, demi Lovato songs, bonfe guy, Idaho, and Walmart. it was helpful to recall how some of them had a number as a 'key word'.

big ten softball tournament

I made my first visit to the big ten softball tournament. the email invite said it was the 28th annual, held at mendakota park in Mendota heights. my school, the iowa hawkeyes, played four games but I just saw the two in the afternoon. there were things I wanted to do at home first, such as shred junk mail. I also wanted to get a sandwich for lunch, and a photo album from Walmart. the iowa alums lost to Wisconsin but beat ohio state. I was getting bored with listening to the ohio state pitcher, he kept trash talking. iowa trailed 11-6 entering the final inning, the 6th, but iowa won 18-11. the pitcher didn't like the 'walk rule' for co-ed softball, to ward off intentional walks. this helped iowa pull ahead in the final inning. he got disgusted and left, so they needed a new pitcher. the game was called due to rain. it started raining even harder after that, while the apparent championship game was being played. iowa did not play in it, as they won just one of four games. iowa had won this tournament 4 times before, according to the trophy on display, most recently in 2015. I was given a poster as the team was leaving, it had football schedules for all big ten teams on it. I was asked to take a team photo, and I said 'you know my name' and it was somebody who had recognized me at some alumni events in the area.
I didn't do much in the evening, watching two 'simpsons' reruns and doing the dishes. hadn't watched it much lately. one was about spider pig, the other about lisa and a hat named sunny. there was plenty on the news about hurricane Harvey, causing flooding in texas. I have a writer friend that lives in Houston, and she posted on facebook that she is fine. it looked like it was on a special page. I said the news coverage reminded me of hurricane katrina in new Orleans in 2005.

super bowl volunteer interview

I had an interview for being a volunteer at the super bowl, which will be in Minnesota early next year. sounds like nearly half of the applicants will be 'hired'. got a selfie there after it.
in the evening I did some karaoke, and there was a lady at the bar saying she was trying to find the confidence to do it for the first time. I did 'bullet proof' by la roux, she did '7 nation army' by the white stripes. she spoke of being a law student at hamline-mitchell.

heart attack, demi lovato

I had a sandwich at lunchtime at erbert gerbert and heard the song 'heart attack' by demi Lovato. it was a catchy song, especially the part about not wanting to fall in love.
on facebook I saw something about the chameleon and her band playing at a Minneapolis bar, so I plan on going there tonight. but I need to get to the ATM first to see that I have enough for the cover charge and the beer.
I made a nice find when checking the iowa hawkeye football schedule. on their website was mention of the school's baseball team playing at the world university games, and before that the national baseball congress tournament. so I found both on e-bay, a postcard of the latter- the stadium in Wichita that is- and two tow first day cover stamps of the former. one was of Edmonton, Canada, from 1983, and the other buffalo, new York, from 1993.

manic monday, bangles

I went to do karaoke tonight after going to the comedy club and library. first song I did was 'manic monday' by the bangles. I recall this one being a hit when I was young. this was 'postponed from an earlier date'. wanted to do it Tuesday but didn't have the time to wait for my turn. funny how I did the song on a day that wasn't Monday. but it still works. also fits since I now live in the big city and understand the sense of urgency of being on time for work and other things. as well as saying I 'live the manic life of a comedian'. the second song I did was 'price tag' by Jessie j and BOB. I first heard this one when doing 'wii dancing' at the office. and it resonates with me, especially 'sale comes first, truth comes second'. I did not see the harmonica guy tonight though. but I did see the Kentucky native for the first time in a while.

a dime not a penny

I like challenges, and did one while still on the bus after work when I wanted to fish out a dime that was stuck in a crevice. a fellow rider, the bonfe employee, spoke of the song about having good luck if picking up a penny. I had to say it was a dime instead. I made it to the performance venue after watching some reruns of 'one day at a time' as well as getting caught up with my stamp collection. I got stamps from e-bay and amazon orders onto a souvenir page, plenty of them are foreign stamps.

before he cheats, carrie underwood

I did some karaoke tonight, saw the button while there. she did two songs, the second was 'before he cheats' by carrie underwood. I laughed a lot before she started singing it. also a reminder of listening to an Eminem CD this week where one of the songs makes a reference to it. she also did 'don't speak' by no doubt, a song I have done before. I did 'brave' by sara bareilles, had hoped to do more but it was getting late and I knew I needed to go.
this was the third venue I saw tonight, and the only one I got stage time at. I saw friends at the forst two, including brawler at the second. the comedy show was replaced by a music show.
at the office there was some left-overs in the breakroom at midday. I got the last burger, also got some bratwurst. guess the can of soup I had planned on eating will have to wait for another day. it was a day of getting caught up on work. also an advisory board meeting, a conference call.

freight train photo

near the comedy club tonight, I was taking a walk and I liked seeing the freight train rushing past that I wanted a photo of it. I was above the tracks. I didn't want to leave for another venue just yet, so the walk works fine. most of the train cars said union pacific. it went fine at the next venue, I spoke I what I did this weekend including seeing the saints game, and the al gore movie.
I also spoke of the lady gaga concert happening at the xcel center in st. paul. I had seen her show twice before, in 2010 and 2014, so I didn't need to go this time.
there was also an annoying greeter in the back of the bus in the evening, and he couldn't get his facts straight about the civil war. but this wasn't the only 'tall tales' we heard from this man.

roy campanella

went to the saints baseball game this afternoon and evening, there was a giveaway item. since the saints were honoring roy campanella, who had played for an earlier version of the saints, there were posters being given out at the gate. there were proclamations from the mayor of st. paul. ramsey county, and the governor of Minnesota saying it was campanella day. the ceremonies meant the game started later than scheduled. saints won, beat Cleburne 8-5. it was my 8th saints game of the season, will likely go to just one more. I had some pizza and bottles water at the game, and besides the poster I liked getting a small program that had a campanella bio in it. there is an ad on the back for a book published by the Minnesota historical society, called 'they played for the love of the game'. hard to understand some of these posthumous honors, why wait so long to honor him? he died in 1993, more than two decades ago. although I know this happens for many other famous people.
after the game I went to a comedy show in Minneapolis, hopefully I will have stage time there at a later date. I wanted a feel of the show, I arrived about an hour after it started.

inconvenient sequel movie

I went to see the movie 'inconvenient sequel', a documentary starring former vice president al gore, in Eagan this afternoon. it had been a while since I had seen the original, 'inconvenient truth', so it is hard to compare the two. I noticed how he got plenty of his bio in this one, including how his dad was a senator before him. no big deal, it's his movie after all. I liked how there was things depicted in it showing change has happened, to using more renewable energy like solar power. there was plenty about the paris summit from 2015 in it. odd how it sometimes had subtitles, but they didn't really need it as I could understand them just fine.
I went to pick up items at my PO box this morning, and two e-bay orders were there. my amazon order was there as well, an Eminem CD. I have already been playing it in my car while driving around today, such as to the movie as well as to a friend's CD recording at a microbrewery. I picked up an advance ticket for the state fair as well, at a cub foods. while getting back home I stopped at an estate sale and bought two books, two dollars each. one was a self-help book, the other had a collection of poems in it, some were from the bible. mason city was the headliner, and he asked me before the show to tone it down on the laughs. I did so since it is easier to take from a comedy friend. so I did what might be called 'closed-mouth laughing'. eventually I got a seat, after somebody left.
after the show I drove home and went to the grocery store. then it was off to do some karaoke. I did three songs: 'long time gone' by the Dixie chicks, 'wonderwall' by oasis, and 'jambalaya' by hank Williams. there was a lady who did a song I had done before, 'still rock and roll to me' by billy joel. later on she did 'danke schoen' by wayne newton, famous for being in the movie 'ferris bueller'.

US bank ATM booth

I liked finding the US bank ATM booth in Roseville tonight. it made me think of lines sang by Eminem about his mentor, so I sang some of them. since the last line I have memorized was 'crying in this booth'. I had some ice cream from dairy queen nearby.
I went to a burlesque show tonight, and the MC sang at the start of the second act. I wrote down 'you've been on my mind, everyday'. and next to it was adele? found out there is an adele song with these lyrics, 'one and only'. I liked the video, a simple black and white format, not just adele singing but also working on other things. as usual, I liked 'moonshine matinee' a lot. she did 'what a feeling' from 'flashdance' while wearing the 'velma' costume from 'Scooby doo'.
there were plums in the breakroom at the office, I did not have any. I found out they had pits, much like the cherries and dates they had brought in there. at midday I had a sandwich at erbert gerbert and then went to get a ticket at the saints stadium, but got caught in the rain on the way there. thankfully I didn't get soaked like I did two nights earlier. I got two more break bucks from my boss, and I had just used up the second of the two from this week earlier today.

knock-knock jokes

twice today 'knock-knock' jokes were relevant. first when I saw my 'work spouse' in the breakroom and asked if the 'yo' moments- when I ask questions- are like that. the other was when an HR official arrived to give me a form and said 'knock knock'- although it is a small cube and not much to knock on in it. also great to see the attorney when riding the bus home in the evening. I spoke of going to a county fair over the weekend, even showed some photos from my digital camera. she wanted to read more from a book about feminism, especially the women's movement, in Minnesota.
I did some karaoke as well, in reference to last week. I chose 'angel of the morning' as I did 'angel' last week. also great to see the harmonica guy, he spoke of being a Vietnam vet, in the navy at da nang and the tet offensive.

san marino stamps

I was looking at first day cover stamps online and was surprised to hear how some of them were from san marino. I found out this is a small nation surrounded by Italy. this might explain why I hadn't heard of it much  before. I like baseball, and there are some baseball stamps from there, I think honoring European championships being there. at some point I will likely order them, since they tend to be cheap compared to other collectibles like postcards. I ordered a different baseball first day cover today, from spain, of the Toronto blue jays stadium. all I could find of the year I went there, 2015, for the pan-am games. I saw one game there.
I made it to the performance venue, got soaked going to and from my car and it was a short walk. tried to watch a DVD before leaving, but fell asleep.

dog and pony show?

I have heard of a 'dog and pony' show, but tonight at one of the venues I was at I saw a man with his dog. this was the second venue it was nice seeing the 'big dog' at the first venue.

2 rand coin, south africa

I found a 2-rand south Africa coin in a vending machine slot, it is about the size of an American quarter. it will fit well with my collection. it proves that a big metro area is a good place for coin collecting, as an international airport likely helps with plenty of foreign coins arriving.
I also made it to the performance venue tonight. some of my set was about the rain-marred weekend, at activities like the county fair.

dakota county fair

I attended 2 rain-marred events today, the lid-lifter was the Dakota county fair in Farmington. I had hoped to see my college roommate there, but he did not respond, must have been too busy since he has a family. I was at the fair for about 90 minutes, I made the most of my time there. I skipped the animal exhibits, much like I do at the Minnesota state fair, but really enjoyed the art building. this included art of a mermaid, mount rushmore, and baseball equipment- got photos of each of these. I looked around at what was called 'Dakota city', which appeared to be a village of preserved buildings. I was thrilled to see one of the food trailers was serving godfather's pizza, so I had some. just before that I had a black cherry ice cream cone. as an iowa native I mostly ate their pizza, but hard to find in the twin cities. also had some fries from another food trailer. it was the smallest cup, but still plenty of fries! and there was music as well, another thing I enjoy about festivals/fairs. as I arrived I heard a local radio station playing 'just a girl' by no doubt. as I was leaving I heard 'party in the USA' by miley cyrus. I checked the weather report in advance so I was ready, and had my rain jacket with me.
the second event was the st. paul saints game, a 7-0 loss to Sioux falls. I chose this game as there was a giveaway, a foam baseball mitt, sponsored by the Minnesota corn growers. I got their little baseball bat as well, last year as I recall. I like the mitt more than the 'we're number one!' foam hands. there was some rain at the saints game, but it was near the end, not really until the 8th inning. Sioux falls hit a grand slam, but it was the final scoring of the game, they were ahead even before it. this is my seventh saints game of the season, they haven't won many of the games I have attended. at this point my interests are to see three more games, one of them is just before labor day weekend, which is at the end of the season.

discounted cookies rejected

this was a day of seeing more fringe shows, three in all. I went home and went to the grocery store between show numbers 1 and 2. I chose some cookies from the discount table, but at checkout the clerk noticed they had been opened, I hadn't. they were essentially rejected for this reason, put aside. I was asked if I still wanted them, but in many ways their actions stated the decision was made for me. I still needed some snack food items, so before I went to do some karaoke I got some graham crackers at a cub foods. I did 'dyer maker' by led zeppelin. the three shows I saw were serpentine, buffy the bedbug slayer, and fruit flies like a banana. got some small buttons at the third show mentioned, and noticed it will get an encore performance.

fringe volunteer party

I went to a party tonight, it was for volunteers at fringe festival. it happened to be in a venue where I once performed comedy. I won the first drawing, there was two rounds. fewer people at the first one. I got two tickets for brave new workshop, I have attended a show there before. no surprise how I enjoyed talking to some people there more than others. we shared some of our 'war stories', why not? at one point I left for a short time to see some of my comedy friends at another bar, just down the street, it was within walking distance.
it was an irregular day in terms of my eating. I was running late this morning, did not get breakfast until I was downtown. I drove, instead of taking the bus, so it meant paying a fee to park in a ramp. then there was more of the 'make your sandwich' thing at the office. what I like is the cheese at these events, I eat plenty of it, separate from any sandwiches. then for the evening meal I had a TV dinner. I didn't feel like going out to eat anyway. at lunchtime I picked up a saints baseball ticket for the sunday game.

potato bread

we had a potluck at the office for lunch, make your own sandwich. somebody brought potato bread, haven't heard of it before. I tried some and it didn't taste much different from most other bread I have eaten. I liked seeing two grills in the breakroom for heating up sandwiches. of course it meant flipping them over periodically.
tonight I did some karaoke after printing some things at the library. I did two songs, it was 'kiss from a rose' by seal, and 'someone like you' by adele. there was a larger crowd after a while, and I noticed when I did the adele song how people were really getting into it. a crowd member talked to me after the second song how it is a 'crowd pleaser'. also liked seeing the harmonica guy there, but he left before I did.

pat sajak in chicago

normally I watch 'big bang theory' reruns after the 6pm news, but tonight I kept it on the same channel (a little too lazy maybe?) and found out 'wheel of fortune' is doing their show in Chicago this week, as host pat sajak was from there. so I kept it there to see what they would be showing about the city. even liked hearing what suburbs the contestants were from, a reminder of living there for nearly 6 years.
I also made it to the performance venue later in the evening. there was 2 boxes of free CDs available, was told by the show runner how they were brought in by the owners. so I claimed 5 of them. some CDs had plenty of copies available. now it is a matter of listening to them, but I am finding out doing so in my car while driving to and from venues works well.

tuesdays robot

over the weekend I decided to claim a free CD at a fringe festival venue. it was a self-titled CD for a music act called Tuesdays robot. it is mostly orange for the cover, and listening to the songs I said it sounded too much like a bob Dylan clone. especially when one line sang, 'knocking on heaven's door' is the title of one of his songs. 'constitution blues' and 'Christmas day revisited' stood out for me.
I made it to the performance venue tonight, and made a reference to this CD. also did some callbacks to a joke about rabbits, and to somebody trying to do a rap joke. I have a few of the latter.

Monday, August 7, 2017

angel, shaggy

I did karaoke tonight and the first of five songs was 'angel' by shaggy. at some point it means doing the inspiration of it, 'angel of the morning'. it was harder to do this song than expected since it goes fast, but I did fairly well keeping up. I recall this song being one of two played before a baseball game in Milwaukee, just over a week after 9/11. the other was 'just a girl' by no doubt. other songs I did were 'lonely people' by America, 'under the bridge' by red hot chili peppers, and 'the sign' by ace of base. I recalled 'lonely people' being in a film when I was in high school. and I have said it before that I have understood loneliness for a while. this is also what I have said about 'Eleanor rigby' by the beatles, another song I have done on karaoke night. 'under the bridge' was one I had heard others doing on karaoke nights. the final one I did was 'as I lay me down' by sophie b. Hawkins. it seemed like a good one to close with as I was tired. this is the most songs I have done on a karaoke night, I had the opportunity as there were fewer people than typical. for a while I was just one of three or four, but near the end of my night there were some more.
It was a really busy day at work, if it wasn't a record number of cases closed on the payoff report it was pretty close to it. but you do what you can, and a Tuesday is usually good as a catch-up day.

it can't happen here, sinclair lewis

this was my day for seeing fringe shows. I went to five, and the first four were close to each other, at rarig or the mixed blood theaters. the fifth was at the Ritz in northeast Minneapolis. I saw 'it can't happen here' at the ritz, based on a Sinclair lewis novel. I was more familiar with some of his other books. I was intrigued how it was part of the federal theater project in the 1930s, a depression-era work relief program. it was a benefit for the ACLU. I saw some characters as being more than likely inspired by some real people. Louisiana politician huey long was from this time and was assassinated in 1935, so I saw some of huey in the main character. it was no big deal getting there, as I allowed myself plenty of drive time.
the other four shows I saw were couple fight, spec (three by three doing a one-man show), America the rewrite (disappointing), and Pinocchio. also got a free CD from one of the venues. couple fight had a performer in it I had seen do women's history shows before, and our paths keep crossing. we likely know some of the same people. spec had some stories in it that I really liked, including one about pressing buttons in the cemetery, and the funny robot. America the rewrite was supposed to be about writing history but this wasn't covered much, and lasted just 30 minutes. probably the worst fringe show I have seen, and I saw my first fringe show in 2012- candide. I was in a relationship then. Pinocchio was done by whopper and his troupe, which includes the david spade look-alike. the two of them work well together. I liked how it was more than just a 'retelling' of the familiar story, but more of an 'update' of it with social commentary such as asking why one has to be good. I left reviews on the site for all five shows, as this is requested for the shows that one sees. with 'couple fight' it was requested that we say who won the fights, but I believe that no one really 'wins' a couple fight. I am thankful, however, that I haven't been in some of those fights depicted, like the hyperventilating, hysterical one about jar pies. unsure if this was exaggerated for dramatic effect, I know this disclaimer has been in shows before, at least some 'based on a true story' movies.

collecting wooden nickels

this was my day of working as a volunteer at fringe festival. it was 3 shifts, all I needed to get a day pass that I intend to use for sunday shows. there was a 'counterfeit' wooden nickel at the first one, but I was not the only line of defense as an usher. I collect them when it is time to admit people for seating to the show. I took it seriously, though I found out it was rather simple. only one of them had a program to pass out, so it was mainly counting how many attendees. I checked for trash before the show began, but there wasn't much. mostly show announcement cards, and a few programs. there was one plastic bottle, I dumped out the contents, not much left, and dropped it in the recycle bin. cleanup is no problem for me when I had those jobs when I was in school. I liked hearing the story of a young lady who was first in line at my second shift. I did it at two different venues. I went home after the first shift as there was a 3-hour gap and eventually I fell asleep. I made it on time to shift #2. after my final shift I drove home and went to the grocery store. then it was on to a comedy show, small world is MC there. I knew many of the performers, including the lunch lady.
the other event was a return visit to Canadian days in little Canada. I went there this morning for the pancakes and the bagpipe band. I was in line for pancakes as the band arrived for a 30-minute set. I don't think I heard them play 'Scotland the brave' this time though. I stayed after this for the car show, plenty of cars there. I got photos of some of them, especially those from the 1930s. then I picked up an amazon order at the post office, a Sia CD, 'some people have real problems'.

facility czar last day

it was announced near the end of the previous workday that our 'facility czar' would be leaving the company soon, and move to florida. so I had hoped to have the time to hand off a photo of us from a going away party for one of my managers about two weeks ago. but it was not to be, as our security guard arrived in the afternoon and said he was in for a short time in the morning and then that was it. I understood it just fine, he didn't want to get mobbed by well-wishers. I prefer to avoid all of the attention as well.
after work I made my first visit this weekend to Canadian days, a festival in little Canada. I got my festival button and then some corn on the cob. after this was done I eventually got some pepperoni pizza and some bottled water. during this time I saw Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders selling calendars. they were also posing for photos, so I got one with them. I will want to post it on facebook eventually as I figured that school bouncer and my college roommate might like it. then after a short time at home checking email, I off again, this time for some performing at a micro-brewery in Minneapolis. I got a guest set there.

pasta in the breakroom

at midday there was pasta in the breakroom from buca di beppo, so I had some of it. more than one kind, and I liked seeing the parmesan cheese available so I used plenty of it. I knew full well it needed to be heated up first, since it had been in a pan sitting out on the table for at least a little while.
In the evening I did some karaoke, 'rain king' by counting crows, as it had rained a little today. I went out to perform after calling my dad. there was a voicemail on my phone when I was on the way to Walgreen or already there, wanting to print photos since there was an announcement at the office about our facility czar leaving soon. I checked my phone and we hadn't spoken since the middle of June, over a month ago, before I had even traveled to St. Louis for my annual visit. sounds like he will not be visiting me here in the Twin Cities this year. he spoke of plans to see an Iowa Cubs baseball game in  Des Moines at the end of August, near the end of their season. our call was just over 30 minutes, since I spoke of wanting to go out and perform tonight. when he gets voicemail he often will say if I am out performing, and sometimes I really am. I would have liked doing more than one song, but since I hadn't spoken with Dad for a while I was no big deal. at least I got some stage time in tonight. the harmonica guy did 'Wagon Wheel', a song I had done before.

what's your fringe show?

tonight I went over to a venue doing a preview before fringe festival began. I wanted to pick up my day pass as I have signed up for 3 volunteer shifts. outside the venue I saw two people in costumes, one was a purple full-body costume and the other hard to describe. I asked 'what is your fringe show' and found out they were in different shows. but I got a card from both. one of them I said it reminded me of judi dench, as she has 'dame' in front of her name and 'dame' is part of the title of her show. I decided to get a better look at the cards I was given, when I had the time. one of them was called 'Dame Dada and the Meta show' at Ritz Theater. The other was 'the fainting room', at the phoenix theater.
in other issues. it was great to see a performer return to the open-mic tonight, in fact it was the rapper that I had wanted to see for a while. I performed as well, but not at the same time. the facility czar sent us an email just before midday about an explosion at a school in Minneapolis. when we work in downtown st. paul, about 5 miles away, I wondered why it said 'assets affected' in the email, referring to our office. it is far enough away where it didn't affect us in terms of trying to get our work done. there was plenty of news coverage about it though. early reports not no fatalities confirmed, but when 2 were reported as 'missing' and others in critical condition, then a death toll is likely.

50-cent impression

tonight I said to school bouncer when he arrived that I was doing my impression of 50-cent. I say this because I was thinking of one of his songs. I was at the club, and had a beer. so it made me think of 'you can find me in the club, bottle full of bud'. although some online searches say the lyric is 'bub'. but I did have a bud light with me. and I have been listening to that song as I got the CD from amazon recently. it is the 'shady XV' CD, so of course plenty of Eminem songs on it. one reason I really like having it is the one with Sia, called 'guts over fear'. I did not get a wild-card slot but I still stayed for some of the show. I let shortly after school bouncer performed, and he had a good one about his tattoo. I saw big dog as I was on my way out, he had just arrived as he would be the show closer. I said it would be great to share the stage with him again sometime soon.
I went to another venue to get stage time, and did ones about report cards, day in the life of my 'work spouse', American legion baseball, my first karaoke video, and a shout-out to magic man about his voice impression, it reminded me of another good joke of his.
at the office there was more ice cream to be had at midday, it was self-serve. there was three tubs set out, and I had two servings as I like ice cream and why not?
in the evening before I went to the comedy club I went to a national night out event. I liked having a hot dog and fritos there, along with lemonade and cookies. there was a drawing for a Wal-Mart gift card, I got my name in but I know it is a longshot on winning. notable was a police officer having candy for the kids. another officer decided to join in on the line dancing.

purpose day, ice cream

today at the office we had ice cream to celebrate the IPO of 3 years ago. it was called 'purpose day' as I think we were to remember what our purpose is. there were ice cream servers, but I did have some more when one tub was nearly empty. I was washing out my soup container and the tub was there in the sink. so I poured it into my coffee mug and drank it, as by then it had mostly melted. I liked putting my own toppings on the ice cream, such as nuts, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and a cherry. it was a typical Monday at the office, high volume on the payoff report. as expected, did not get to much else, but we are not expected to get to the sale project on a high-volume day.
at the performance venue tonight, I did ones about report cards, an unfunny running joke at the office, day in the life of my 'work spouse', multi-tasking while doing OT, American legion baseball, and the movie 'b-side'.
