air jordan movie

saw the air jordan movie this afternoon in inver grove heights. i recognized matt damon, ben affleck, and jason bateman in it. i said i should see this one as it has echoes of two of my favorite movies, 'good will hunting', and 'up in the air'. as 'hunting' is another damon/affleck vehicle, and 'up in he air' also had bateman, as well as the cyndi lauper song 'time after time'. i did my research and found out that song is in movies and TV shows all the time. the music in it is good, and there is a lot of it. more often than not, a scene had some music in it. it got at least one 'single but loud ha' out of me, because of chris tucker. the preview for 'book club' did as well, wasn't expecting a chick flick to get a laugh out of me. the opening segment is a montage of images that were what 1984 was known for, the year jordan was signed by the bulls. except the song in this part, 'money for nothing' by dire straits, was as a hit a year later, 1985. said the same about the scene in a 7-11 where a box of wheaties was bought. one does see mary lou retton on the box's front, which would be correct for that year. but odd how the minnesota twins tribute is on the back when it is rung up, which was actually 1987, the year the twins won the series. it also reminded me of how i have never owned these shoes. i recall when they were new and a kid from a richer family than mine at church had them, asked me why i didn't. because they were expensive and my parents couldn't afford them. i once knew somebody who bought a pair and didn't wear them at all. well the way i was taught, food- and clothing- were meant to be used. since this is a nike movie, i liked seeing a picture of prefontaine in the background of some scenes, and i knew this was the first athlete signed by nike. while at the theater i picked up a poster for the bio-pic about boxer george foreman, this is likely the next movie i am seeing at theaters.

before the movie i went to the copy store, an printed a ticket for an event i am attending in june. so i crossed off both lines remaining on my to-do list. performed at an open-mic in the evening and spoke of not only this movie but also some bank stories and a going-away party. during my walks i found 98 cents.

big top deals

i had to move back my weekly visit to hy-vee in eagan one day due to attending the going-away party. i take notice of their in-store displays. this week it was 'big top deals', a circus theme, setting up a few days early for may as it said 'a-may-zing deals'. i went in the evening, and bought just five items as i went there after going to aldi. i like how i got to most of the errands on my list. besides the grocery stores, it was going to the post office. nothing to pick up because i hadn't ordered anything lately, as i knew i was going to be out of town. dropping off recycle near the capitol. getting shoes at jc penney. it was time to replace  a pair as i saw the need a month ago. and getting a sandwich at jersey mike's. i was tired so i laid down in the afternoon, but there wasn't much left to do by then. two things left on my list is to print an event ticket at the copy store, and go to a movie. i placed an order for a DVD on amazon in the evening, and will likely order from e-bay soon as well. once i look at my list of interests of course. and i made it to the liquor store. i bought two cans of wabasha, a local micro-brew, so now there are five beers waiting. during my walks i found 1 dollar 88 cents.

two cakes at party

after work i went to a going-away party tonight for a comic that is moving to new york city. i did not know many of the people there, but i was invited by cul-de-sac through facebook. the show runner from  a mic i sometimes perform at was there, along with his younger brother, who would like to pursue being a musician. there was two cakes at the party, one had strawberries on top. the other spoke of it being cheaper to fail as a comic in the twin cities. i brought a fruit tray that was found at hy-vee, because half of the vegetable tray there was broccoli and cauliflower. i drank two beers there, a grain belt and a blue moon, and had a burger. the fries were good, guess the host of the house party fried them himself instead of baking them. i did my best to find common ground with those i didn't know well, got a few laughs from my observations about performing. it took a while, but cul-de-sac did show up with his lady, said he had a show to do. there was mention of wanting to do another event in a week, which does interest me. i didn't go home until the event was done as i found out it was just one mile from my workplace. i also didn't speak much of where i work as i prefer to keep those two parts of my life separate. when i was at hy-vee i noticed some state fair-type food stands in the parking lot. one of them had ice cream, i had the raspberry and vanilla flavored. second straight day having ice cream as i had it at the dairy queen near my work the day before. at work i got caught up on running checks through, and the newer business line sent us a file, the only one of the week. there was some emails and a call about a file having duplicated check numbers. i was not aware of this right away. what i did know is that it was related to a file that was waiting for approval for nearly a week and was approved three days ago. notable about the drive home was hearing 'no sleep till brooklyn', by the beastie boys, a reminder of driving back from baseball games in milwaukee, when living in suburban chicago. i would say 'no sleep till schaumburg'. when i got home i went on a walk and found 2 dollars 11 cents.

entitlement cleanup

when i tried to log into the app at work to print checks the only one there was for testing. i let i.t. know and when my boss was emailed at the end of our team huddle we were told that an 'entitlement cleanup' had taken place. so it meant most of the checks had to be imported and printed by a colleague remotely. the backlog did go down as the tech finished things up, saying that folding it at the perforation led to some of the jamming. so it meant a slight adjustment there. and the cloth in the fluid trap was swapped out. but it is likely that i can get caught up by the end of friday. but it meant i was idle for some of the morning, even sweeping the floor while the tech was there to stay busy. but when janitorial doesn't get into the shop, and it hadn't been done in a while, it was the right time to get it done. i drank the can of natural ice with the evening meal so now three beers are waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon used a virtual presence device. it was followed by the one where the friends take an old van to mexico and it caught fire. the ladies decide to pierce amy's ears. 'young sheldon' was about sheldon trying to find a professor who was willing to sponsor his idea about finding life on other planets.

tech will be back

the tech arrived to work on the envelope stuffer, and was there for a while. at the end of the day we were given an envelope which had written down what the issues were. and the tech would be back the next morning. a colleague wanted to be there when the tech arrived to explain what was happening, after a few minutes i notified. i prefer to give people their space when working on the machine. we are definitely still behind on running checks through, although my colleague wanted to run more through and was still there when i left at the end of the day. my boss called and emailed me about it throughout the day, but it was a case of 'they get there when they get there'. and it was annoying when my boss wouldn't accept my answer, but accepts my colleague's answer even though it was the same answer. i even was told to have the overnight labels re-directed to another colleague, although she had to pick up her kids in the afternoon and couldn't do all of them. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 34 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard went to the hospital for a robot arm. and penny was a chaperone on sheldon and amy's date, who asked penny if she was a slut. it was followed by the one where sheldon did 'fun with flags' about broken up nations, including czechoslovakia, to annoy amy. 'the conners' was about dan stopping jackie's husband from driving drunk.

marty movie

this evening i went to see the movie 'marty' at the trylon cinema in south minneapolis. i had heard of it before as it was a best picture winner, and for this reason was part of the plot of the movie 'quiz show'. and it was mentioned in reference to 'only the lonely' as it has a similar storyline, an older man who finally meets a lady. i did not know any of the actors in it, aside from ernest borgnine. and i noticed the beer being drank in one scene was pabst. i made it just before the screening began, and bought the ticket onsite. i had tried to place an advance reservation, much like two weeks prior, but it didn't take. when i got home from the movie i didn't do much aside from check email. it was a busy day at work, first day back after a day off. found out my vacation replacement had called for service on the envelope stuffer, saying it wasn't sealing envelopes consistently enough. we did not see a tech even though we were called about it and was told there would be one in the late afternoon. i also had my car in the shop nearby, for not only an oil change but also the blown tire from the night before. looks like everything should be fine now. i think i am mostly caught up from chores and errand running, things i normally do on the weekend but of course was out of state. two things left to do would be to print an event ticket and send off the bags of recycle. my niece would likely want me to share any photos from the birthday party as well.

somewhere in queens movie

this was an eventful day, and as a day off i prefer it that way. in the afternoon i went to see the movie 'somewhere in queens', in eagan. i had heard how it was at the local film festival, was correct it would get a wider release outside of it. i recognized ray romano and laurie metcalf in it. looks like ray also directed it. there was a transition scene showing the mets baseball stadium as it is in queens. this is about ray being part of a family construction business and his son plays high school basketball. the son is dating, but i didn't like the scene where he gets locked out of his car by the girl. much like in 'lady bird', it was a good choice to cast laurie as the mom. after the movie i went home and watched 'jeopardy', the final clue was about the interstate that ran through 3 capitol cities. in the morning i went to the DMV to renew my license plates. then it was to the credit union to add to the certificate of deposit that had just matured. and i did the full order at aldi, after getting just milk and orange juice the night before. for lunch i went to the a nd w at mall of america. i looked around a little after i had eaten, finding home plate and the home run seat inside the theme park. but it looks like the illusion museum is still not open yet. there is a sign up besides 'coming soon' saying 'hiring'. then it was on to the movie. when i went to the performance venue tonight, i was exiting the main road and heard the car hit a pothole. i said this didn't sound good at all. when i got parked i noticed a tire had blew. so i walked to the venue and asked about getting the tire changed. i went online and ended up calling four different places, and picked the first one as their price was lower than the fourth. the wait was less than expected, a little over an hour, but i still got back to the venue just in time for my slot in the lineup. i told more bank stories and a karaoke story. during my walks i found 66 cents, and got a can of busch light so now there are four beers waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when leonard tells pennt the story about moving in. it was followed by the one where amy says goodbye to sheldon.

little rubber ducks

i began the day in ankeny, iowa, at my hotel. of course it was nice to get continental breakfast there. i confirmed the driving directions to the event before checking out as i prefer the larger keyboard on the computer in the common area. i made one stop along the way, at the hy-ee in johnston as i wanted to drop off cans and bottles. one of the redemption machines was down so i had to send the glass bottes inside, after i got discounted candy bars and some transparent tape. i missed the turn on the first try to the event, at a park in waukee, so i went on to the dairy queen and decided to figure out the directions in their parking lot. as expected, easier to make it there when it is a right turn as the street sign was hard to see when turning left. it was scheduled to begin at 12noon but i arrive before then and some others did as well. i asked my niece if she was warm enough, while still at my car as she didn't have a coat on, but she didn't hear me. i got the cards ready for both of my nieces and then i went inside. there was plenty to eat, some varieties of little smokies in crock pots, as well as some meatballs with pineapple chunks. on top of the cup cakes were little rubber ducks as i am told my great-niece likes ducks, and monkeys. so the little rubber duck became my souvenir from the event. my gifts were a book, clothes, and a target gift card. i had some decent conversations while i was there, with my mom, dad, and stepdad. before i got started with my dad i had to say to a sibling, who was known for interrupting us, numerous times, 'please don't do that'. the sibling said nothing, then moved to another table, giving me what i wanted. so 'the gentle art of verbal self-defense' worked. it sounded like my nephew wasn't going to make it, but he did, wearing a quik-trip shirt. this would be the convenience store he works at. i got started on the drive back to the twin cities shortly after the event ended. i made a stop early on at the rest area north of des moines, wanting to get my duffel bag out of the trunk and to take off my coat. inside there was something about 'don't drive while tired' with a pac-man video game theme so i got a picture of it. then my next stop was in clear lake, to get a bottle of coca-cola as i was getting tired. the final one was the hy-vee in eagan to get groceries. not sure how much spare change i picked up throughout the day but it was at least 25 cents as i did claim a quarter i saw under the vending machine in the morning.

coffee at hy-vee

i picked up a rental car this morning and drove to central iowa for the weekend. when i arrived it was to see a classmate and we had coffee at the hy-vee in my hometown of newton, iowa. some of the subjects discussed, such as my line of work, sports, or movies, were more pleasant than others. i went to the dairy queen after it and had a vanilla cone. then i walked around the grounds of emerson hough school, my inspiration as a writer. then it was on to my hotel. after i checked in i let my college roommate know, no response, but i am aware he was working on his house this weekend. so i went to eat at the nearby kentucky fried chicken. after watching some TV and part of the movie 'the jazz singer' (from 1927), i was getting antsy and knew i needed to go sing karaoke. i chose sheryl crow's 'if it makes you happy'. it was a callback to three weeks ago when i was documenting a friend's show. before me i liked hearing 'la bamba'. after me i liked seeing the jockey do 'let's get it on'. and somebody did 'whoomp there it is'. then it was back to my hotel where i wrote another edition about my travels while drinking a beer, a coors. i picked up 65 cents while waiting for the bus that took me to the car rental place.

happy heart shapes

i started the box of honey nut cheerios and it says it has happy heart shapes. there are some in the cereal, along with the typical rings. on the box there is mention of finding the other half of the heart. guess it is a way of promoting more sales of this product. i did read this week how this is one of the better selling cereals in america, along with regular cheerios. at work i did get caught up on running checks through the machine, although it took a while. but by lunchtime i was there. not only the ones from today but also yesterday's and some from two days ago. and i ran the pay-stubs before i started on the checks, those arrived at the end of thursday. in the evening i got some strawberry milk, the paper, and an oreo ice cream sandwich at the speedway gas station. i traded text messages with some friends, inquiring about their weekend schedules. during my walks i found 51 cents. there was one 'big bang theory' rerun, it was when sheldon has a visitor, called 'dr. slut bunny' by penny. then it was onto a pre-game show for the minnesota twins baseball game, vs. the washington nationals. since i had other things to do i didn't see much of the game.

loft wordplay announcement

i went to an event at the loft in minneapolis in the evening, it was the announcement of the wordplay writers this summer, in july. i was not familiar with who is scheduled to appear, but i did like seeing some art in progress there. somebody was painting on a cloth in the corner, and it said 'narrative power'. there was cake and i am thankful i got a picture of it before the cake was cut, then i got the second piece as i was near the table when they were first serving from it. good thing i got a burger from bobby and steve's before arrival as i knew full well there was going to be just snack foods there. i had some cheese and crackers, and some grapes as well. along with a can of summit pilsner beer. i had attended this event in 2019, the first year it was held. after the announcement i noticed there was snack foods at the small round tables, some had skittles and others had m and m's. i said i prefer the latter, since there are more varieties- plain and peanut. when i got home there still was the after-work things to do, such as go through email. still trying to un-subscribe from as many places as possible, since it means fewer emails to look through each day. at work it was a struggle to run checks through in the morning, still got three stacks done. then the tech arrived around midday and stayed until the end of the day, but it looks like things are fine now. the backlog did go down, will try to get caught up by the end of the day. during my walks i found 1 dollar 6 cents.

sex on the beach

this evening i drank a can of pirate water with my meal so now there are three beers waiting. i had to look up sex on the beach as i usually get beer, not too familiar with mixed drinks. what i found online said it was vodka with various kinds of schnapps and fruit juices. i could taste the fruit part of it, no problem there. the other can of pirate water i have is margarita flavored, i have had that kind of drink before. it was a long day at work, as the output cover on the envelope stuffer wouldn't close before midday. so it meant having to call for service, and i ended up even farther behind on running checks through than at the start of the day. the tech was there until the end of the workday, for three hours, and said he'd be back the next day. i did run some checks through after i put out the cart. and i saw that the highest priority checks went out, so eventually i took out all of the fargo checks from what was in the hoppers and it meant switching the envelopes. found out the rod inside the machine is important as expected as it helped with keeping the cover closed. 'the conners' was about darlene becoming a lunch lady to help with paying the college tuition for mark. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when wil wheaton schemed to win a bowling match with sheldon. it was followed by the one where leonard and raj tried to do a project without sheldon and howard. not sure if i had seen that one before. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 34 cents.

bonus vending machine items

from time to time when i am using the vending machine at work i notice items in the bottom and i claim them. i think of them as 'bonus items'. this time it was peanut butter m and m's, last week it was combos. found them when i was getting a bag of doritos. there was a spike on the volume for the fargo checks, over seven thousand. i got one of the two lines out the door same-day, the slightly smaller one. there was twelve checks to be overnighted from the newer business line. my copy of the emailed list was cut off so i was off by one about which two were to be returned to the business line. so there was three returned instead of two. when i noticed this near the end of the day i corrected it by seeing that the tracking number going to fort snelling was voided. then it meant creating another label so it would go to the right office. it is very rare that i have to void an overnight label, i am proud of that as i hate wasting anything. i was asked if there were any self-addressed envelopes in the check shop, i said i was not aware of any. 'night court' was a rerun, about how abby's parents met. during my walks i found 25 cents.

flowers for nobody

near the end of the workday i was checking the branch for deliveries and asked the branch manager what the flowers were for in her office. she said they were for an employee who no longer works there, and she asked the florist to pick them up. so they were technically for nobody. it was nice getting caught up with running checks through the machine, aided by the lower volume on the fargo checks. there was some returned mail dating back to february. i had tried to get it to the right place, an HVAC company in cincinnati, so i found another address on google and sent it out again. in the evening i got more tax forms ready to send to the state, these were the property tax forms. then on the way to the performance venue i put them in the drop-box next to their building. i had plenty of bank stories ready, five in all. and there was stories about seeing three movies this week. although it will be remembered for hearing somebody talking during my set. i just decided to plow through, even though i wanted to call them out. it may have been another performer, who was on after me and spoke of having various stage names. later on i went on a walk and found 44 cents. and saw what was likely an injured rabbit as it didn't scurry away when it saw me. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends acted out 'lord of the rings' when they end up with a ring. it was followed by the one where sheldon and leonard try going to skywalker ranch. while their friends play ping-pong to decide who gets the 'doctor who' phone booth.

sweetwater movie

this afternoon i went to see the movie 'sweetwater', the bio-pic about the basketball player. this was in inver grove heights. when i arrived i was a few minutes late but the movie hadn't started yet. the screen was stuck on a preview and there was no sound. i asked the other patron about it and was told they had let them know of the issues. eventually it was unstuck and there was sound. i did read a little about the movie's subject before i went to see it. and i am used to the disclaimer 'some scenes and characters were invented for dramatic effect'. i recognized jeremy piven, kevin pollak, and richard dreyfuss in it. the story was told in flashback on a cab ride to the airport. much of it was about his time with the harlem globetrotters. many of the games depicted, with the trotters or the knicks, were at madison square garden, except the arena looked awfully small. and there was mention of two other players who integrated the league, at a press conference. after the movie i went to the hy-vee liquor store and got another can of pirate water, so now four beers are waiting. and i picked up print-outs from the copy store, one of them being an event invite from facebook. i got farther along on tax forms, the property tax ones that is. the income tax forms have already been filed. noticed i still needed one more form so i will find it online and print it the next day. during my walks i found 92 cents.

hot seat movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'hot seat'. i recognized mel gibson in it, as a bomb squad cop. this movie reminded me of some others, and some might say it was a ripoff of those movies. i was thinking of 'die hard', 'speed', and 'scream'. although the main one mentioned in it was 'apocalypse now'. it is about a computer hacker who is held hostage and has to use his hacking skills to steal money. it happens on the day of his daughter's birthday. there were some plot holes in it, such as the terrorist being trapped in a server room and then no mention of how he escaped. and then how he can impersonate a cop to take the wife and daughter hostage. it was a free movie for me, using points. also nice seeing shannen doherty in it, as the police chief. after the movie was done it was time to get to the post office, two orders were picked up. then i went to the gas station and dumped the movie. it was midday by then so i went to jersey mike's and had a sandwich. i was checking my phone while there as i saw the rain falling and thanks to twitter i saw the announcement on the delayed start for the college baseball game i was interested in. this was the iowa vs. minnesota game. so i waited out the delay at home. the game started two and a half hours late. i found cheap parking on the street a few blocks away, east of the football stadium. it was in the second inning when i arrived, iowa was up 5-0. the iowa hawkeyes scored in six of the game's nine innings and won 18-4. it was chilly so i am thankful i had layers on, a rain jacket, leather jacket, and a hawkeye sweatshirt. i had a hot chocolate and a bag of chips at the game. notable was songs played while at the game. offspring's 'you're gonna go far kid', jimmy eat world's 'the middle', and 'i'm all right' by kenny loggins. seemed like a good one to start the walk back to my car with. not much to do when i got home. during my walks i found 64 cents.

bathroom closed

there was some tape across the door of the bathroom on the floor i work on, saying it was closed for maintenance. later in the day it was gone but i went inside and didn't use it as most of the lights were off and the ceiling panels were taken down. i still got a picture of it. i went to another floor the two times i needed to throughout the day. it was a smaller bathroom i use, the kind one has to lock the door. i was unable to get caught up on running checks through the machine but the backlog went own to just over a thousand as the incoming volume for the day was lower. the machine was still stopping a lot so it meant juggling tasks to see that all duties were completed. near the end of the day i sent a check to the branch manager from the i-pay file. i is rare to see one that stays in the building, it was for a branch employee that i am told is often on the teller line. the check was likely for notary fees to the state, i have seen them before. i made it to hy-vee in the evening for my weekly grocery order. trying to plan out the weekend activities but can be hard to do when i would like to attend a college baseball game but there is rain in the forecast. i have ruled out attending the MSP film fest, figuring that i should be able to see the movies i want to see later on when they get a less limited release. i last attended the festival four years ago. i still might see one at theaters this weekend, there are two of interest to me and one of them just premiered. what makes the film-fest less appealing is not only the higher ticket prices, but also the parking fees. as suburban theaters have plenty of free parking. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 90 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when stan lee was a guest star. it was followed by the one where the friends eat one last meal made my howard's mom. sheldon and leonard are feuding about a published paper.

sales VP visit

early in the workday my boss said there would be a visitor from a supplier of envelopes, their VP of sales. we were informed that the two most common envelopes used are made at the same facility, in mount pleasant, iowa, and the boxes may have been delivered in different months but were all made in january. there was no directive to throw out envelopes, as it appears that some are better than others, so i think i will just keep using all of them and try to use the older ones first. a colleague helped with running the envelope stuffer for most of the day and it aided with getting four tubs sent out, and we are back to being just one day behind on the fargo checks. looks like next week's senior leader meeting is a dial-in. i was tired after work so not much was done besides emails and mending a st. paul saints sock, saw the need after doing laundry over the weekend. i drank the bottle of lvivske with the evening meal, the ukrainian beer, so now three beers are waiting. during my walks i found 1 cent. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon kept saying he should go to switzerland with leonard. it was followed by the one where raj snooped on red-haired emily and broke a drawer on her nightstand. 'young sheldon' showed mary quitting the job at the bowling alley because of a feud with her neighbor.

baby shower in breakroom

around lunchtime there was a baby shower in the breakroom. i noticed the only man attending was my boss. i did not know the guest of honor. and i was busy with work because the tech was there working on the envelope stuffer. near the end of the tech visit he asked to talk with the boss, and said many of the issues was the envelope quality. the fargo envelopes hadn't been performing as well as the others, although the fargo envelopes that just arrived in the morning were a little better. i wasn't thrilled with how the envelopes arrived though. the courier just unloaded the pallet from the truck and left it next to the curb by the service entry. so it meant i had to cut the plastic off myself and bring them in by myself. i still was quick about it, good thing i was because the tech arrived less than an hour later. a colleague helped with checks in the afternoon after the tech left. the boss said he'd consult with who places the order for me about it. i went to another walgreen after getting home and found some more discounted easter candy, but this location already had a limited supply remaining. although one of the things found there was a box of turtles caramel nut cluster. proof of how the old adage 'selection varies by store' applies as i hadn't seen them at the other two i had stopped at. later on i went on a walk and found 79 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon was found by leonard at a ball pit. it was followed by the one where howard and bernadette yelled at an airline employee about getting his mom's urn found.

wild bunch movie

this evening i went to see the movie 'wild bunch' at the trylon cinema in south minneapolis. guess they have dropped the 'micro' from their name. it was a reminder of how a rhetoric instructor in college said she would like to film her version of the movie with our class as the cast. except she said there weren't any women in it. not entirely true. like many westerns, they weren't the big stars, many of them were prostitutes. plenty of shooting in it, including a machine gun. and a bridge was blown up. there was a train robbery as well. the thing that was lost on me at first was how the gang was just impersonating military men, having stolen the uniforms and the horses. mention of general pershing and pancho villa gave me the answer of the time frame being covered, this would be the mexican revolution. this was the third and final day for screening the movie. at work there was plenty going on. in the morning i saw food left on the counter in the breakroom. i claimed two boxes of cereal. one was private label shredded wheat and the other was kellogg's corn flakes. one had just expired and the other will be soon. there was two deliveries that arrived at the same time. i accepted the one for check stock. i rejected the one for battery packs, per the advice of the branch manager. a colleague helped out with the envelope stuffer for a while as the check volume was high for the fargo checks and the machine has been jamming a lot. per my boss a ticket was called in, especially after it was reported that some envelopes had two or even three checks in them. there was a team huddle in the morning, and it was the boss's birthday so there was cake. during my walks i found 1 cent. the 'big bang theory' reruns were with the 'intruder alert' alarm system and sheldon trying to move to bozeman. it was followed by the one where many characters said 'let it go'. could only watch half of the second rerun as i needed to get to the movie.

two battery chargers

in the morning i hooked up two battery chargers. not just for my phone but also my camera. no surprise, it was easier to hook up the one for the camera, and it was finished earlier. i do this on the other side of the shop from me where i can lay the devices down on the shelf. and the outlet is below it, where many of the envelope boxes are. sounds like the main part of the supply order has been placed, was waiting for a senior leader approval. i picked up the sealing fluid bottles from the branch late in the workday. before midday i picked up the overnight envelope boxes. i notified the thread about another IRS envelope arriving and was asked to scan the contents. a colleague picked it up from the shop and was to give it to somebody who was arriving from another office. the envelope stuffing machine was jamming a lot in the afternoon. in the evening i performed at an open-mic, the show runner liked the one about 'guess my age' and did one inspired by it. later on i went on a walk and found 46 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon got incredible hulk hands from raj as raj wanted to meet ladies. leonard and penny argued about psychics on a double date with howard and bernadette. it was followed by the one where the ladies found ways to embarrass each other online. penny's ape movie, bernadette in a beauty pageant, an amy writing stories like 'little house' inspired by her dating sheldon.

red cross snoopy shirt

i made an appointment for the afternoon and i went to the red cross to donate platelets and plasma. it was inspired by seeing an article recently about the viral videos due to giving out snoopy shirts for donating blood. and we know i am a big fan of charlie brown and snoopy. also notable was finding out i could watch netflix during the session. guess it lasted long enough that it is a good way to keep people occupied. i chose a documentary about leonard cohen, the musician behind the 'hallelujah' song. although i didn't get to see all of it as the session was shorter than the documentary. my first time donating, when i was in high school i was not allowed as i was ill the day of the blood drive. i am told i will find out my blood type in a few days. i recall dating somebody a while back who made a big deal about me not knowing what it is. i picked out the shirt at the end of the session. while in the recovery room i watched a julia child cooking show, was wondering how old the show was and the closing credits said it was from 1999.

there were other things i did throughout the day. i got started early on laundry, wanted it done before midday. then i had lunch and watched the easter church service from our lady of grace, edina, on Fox-9. after the red cross it was the XFL, san antonio vs. houston. later on it was the end of the masters, a reminder of watching it many years ago. mom tried to punish me by saying i was not allowed to watch baseball one weekend so i watched golf instead. i then got out a charlie brown DVD and watched both specials on it, 'easter beagle', and 'arbor day'. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 79 cents. on the late news from WCCO i liked watching a segment about the way of the cross from new ulm. i had toured this before, one time when i was in town for oktoberfest.

american traitor movie

late in the evening i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'american traitor'. i recognized al pacino in it, who was the lawyer for the main character. i do like movies 'based on a true story' and this was about an actress who broadcasted propaganda in germany during the second world war. except this wasn't in any of the history books i had read, about an 'axis sally'. much of the story is told in flashback, while her trial is taking place. i noticed many landmarks in the background of some scenes such as the jefferson and lincoln memorials in washington, dc. as a baseball fan i liked a reference to the senators, although it was for their reputation for losing, when the lawyer was making a point with his young assistant. the opening credits do mention it was based on a book, as many movies based on a true story are. the closing credits include an interview with the young assistant, who lived a long life, having died just a few years before the movie was made. i am aware of how it is all about the story that the movie maker wants to tell, but it seems odd that one witness testified it was scandalous how she wasn't wearing panties while posing as a nurse in a POW hospital while interviewing patients.

normally i watch the movie in the morning, but i wanted to get started early on errand running. there was four stops to make. the post office, where two orders were picked up. the capitol, to drop off recycle. the credit union, to dump change into my savings account, a quarterly thing i do. it was just over 12 dollars. then the liquor store, where i got a can of pirate water, first time i had heard of it. now there are four beers waiting. i made it back home just before midday, where i picked up my ticket for the saints baseball game. and stopped at a speedway gas station on the way to get a sandwich. it was a double header, as one game was a makeup of tuesday's rainout. i was smart to avoid the lines at the front entrance and go to the back- as i got the hoodie giveaway, and a magnet schedule as well. this was a double header split. iowa cubs won the lid lifter, 9-7, and the saints won the night cap, 8-5. after i got home i went over to aldi for my weekly grocery order as it was closing soon. during my walks i found 3 dollars 13 cents.

corn chips claimed

i was on an upper level of the office checking if a fax needed to be sent. i noticed some trash in the recycle bin next to it so i decided to take it out and move it to the real trash bin in the breakroom. there was an opened bag of fritos corn chips there, looked perfectly good to me so i claimed it. and i took a picture of all of the items i moved out of the recycle bin. it included a pringles can and an empty pack of oreos. i hate to see food go to waste. i had some of the corn chops as a snack already and will have the rest of them this weekend. notable about the workday was seeing another file to overnight from the newer business line. now they want even more than just the screen snip, also wanting specifics on where each return to business line package is going. this line is asking for way too much compared to the others, it is annoying. on the way home i stopped at an arby's and got a fish sandwich and curly fries. so this wraps up the fish dinners i am having during lent. i was listening to some of the st. paul saints baseball game vs. the iowa cubs on the radio on the way to hy-vee in eagan. the saints were leading 6-2 late in the game and went on to win by the same score. besides my typical grocery order i got a snoopy easter beagle card. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 70 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon teaches penny about science. it was followed by the one where sheldon is thrown out by amy because his hat stinks and he is forced to get some sleep by leonard and penny.

fed-bank story

i was bringing up refund checks in the afternoon and the customer service supervisor told a story of working at the fed-bank. it was about being the only employee that was trusted by an autistic man whose job was shredding things. and sometimes he would shred the wrong things. it did remind me a little of my sister being in voc-rehab. and i spoke of how sometimes employers like employing disabled people for the wrong reason- because of the cheaper wages. it was in the news recently about the legislature trying to end the sub-minimum wage. i am finding a nearby employee to be annoying, who wants to jump into conversations and makes too big of a deal about our age difference when i don't think it needs to be a big deal at all. also notable about the day was hearing from a supplier, who asked if an order for check stock had been placed yet for this month. i copied a colleague on the thread that places the order for me, and was told that a senior leader hadn't signed off on it yet. this is due to being out of the office, and is not due back until monday. i said i am fine at this point with check stock, i have enough to complete my normal duties. this is likely aided by having boxes left over from a special project that wrapped up a month ago. it was expected to be 50k checks but was later changed to less than half that amount. i drank the can of surly with the evening meal so now three beers are waiting. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 1 cent. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when kripke sabotaged sheldon's phone interview with helium. it was followed by the one where sheldon and leonard were crying in a clothing store when talking about living arrangements.

door batteries

after lunch i heard somebody open the door without a code and the second time they came around i asked them to tell me who they were and what they were doing there. sounded like somebody from facilities, trying to swap out the door batteries, but said it was hard to do when the screws were stripped. the man sounded defensive when asked but i said there are not a lot of visitors to the shop and i wanted answers for my boss about who was here. i saw it as more than fair to ask. something about a work order was called in, i said it wasn't by me. also at work there as two files that weren't approved until late in the day so i let them know those checks wouldn't be going out same-day. these had some checks to be pulled out for overnighting. a colleague was in the shop before lunch and spoke of having trouble with the battery on his car key. then he listened to a DIY video and got i handled. 'the conners' was about text message threads that were being too honest with others, and doing an easter egg hunt. liked seeing louise in this one, she wasn't in many episodes lately. later on i went on a walk and found 29 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends were going to watch meteor showers, but got high on cookies that other campers gave them. sheldon helped penny with an injured shoulder. it was followed by the one where sheldon did 'fun with flags' with levar burton.

signed up for venmo

i was able to cross off a few items on my list tonight. one of them was signing up for a venmo account. it will make it easier to be paid for the show i did last week. i let the wisconsin couple know through the facebook posting. i found out it can be used on the amazon site when placing an order there this week so that works for me. the service is owned by paypal, and i already had paypal but sometimes one needs to branch out a little. i think i even heard mention of it on tonight's episode of 'night court', by dan fielding. it was kind of funny where it included a scene showing one of abby's employees getting into a private club by posing as a bartender. at work one of the visitors to the shop was a security specialist with the bank. when i answered the door i said 'i know you but not you' as the branch manager introduced us. it didn't take long. i was asked if i was the only one in the shop and i said most days i am but i have vacation replacements when needed. i was checking the weather report for the weekend and it looks like decent weather for the baseball game i have a ticket for. it is now a double-header for the st. paul saints as the opener was rained out and moved to that date. the start time has been moved up an hour, not a big deal. i will find a way to get there a little earlier. minor league games are shortened to seven innings so this would make it easier to sit through two games. i made a nice find on facebook, tagging three photos from an earlier time being a live blogger for the wisconsin couple, the first time i did the show in 2015, a christmas edition. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 28 cents. the 'big bang theory' rerun was when leonard got surgery to take care of snoring and sheldon got two urns.

dashboard questions

in the afternoon i got an I.M. from 'some dude in irving, texas'. that is what i said to my boss. it was somebody who had questions about the dashboard app i use, saying he was interested in making some improvements to it. i said i don't know who runs that app but i gave the name of my boss and the I.T. people. it was weird as i hardly ever get questions bout the app. his link said 'not authorized', likely why i was being contacted. also weird where i was asked if i was in the shop. somebody who doesn't know my work well, because i am in the shop every day. will likely find out soon enough what it all means. the maintenance kit on the lesser-used check printer was swapped out just before then. i said it didn't have to be one same-day, but if it was today then not during my lunchtime, which was starting in a few minutes. while at lunch i asked what was being celebrated, as i saw a punch bowl. it was a baby shower for a manager in another department, somebody who picks up checks from me said it is her boss. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 51 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when leonard tried to watch nebraska football with penny, but sheldon shows up and leonard decides flying kites with his friends is a better idea. it was followed by the one where the friends have a make-up prom which has as much drama as a real one.

atomic blonde movie

this morning i watched a redbox movie, 'atomic blonde'. i recognized charlize theron and john goodman in it. this is about a super-spy, based on a graphic novel apparently. it starts off with mention of the fall of the berlin wall in 1989, saying 'it is not that story', but this still serves as the backdrop throughout. i like john goodman, so knowing he is in it made it way easier to choose it when going through the listings at the kiosk. the story is mainly told through flashback while the spy is being interrogated by her superiors. the music in it is good, i notice the songs throughout most of the movie. there was '99 luftballoons', 'father figure', and 'under pressure'. also mention of sinead o'connor, in terms of the haircut that one spy had to fit in. i do like thrillers, and what i liked was when it seemed to be over, with the spy being put on leave, it wasn't. and i wrote down what was on a neon sign in a nightclub, it said 'everything you want is on the other side of fear'. when i went back to the gas station to dump the movie, i also made a stop at the copy store to print the list from a facebook invite. it is the amazon wishlist my niece has for the upcoming birthday party. i ordered one item from it already and may order another one. when i got back home i turned on the college basketball game, the iowa hawkeyes were in the finals of the women's tournament. iowa lost to LSU 102-85. later on i performed at an open-mic, nice seeing magic man there. i did another one about being at a fish fry. i got a look at a target after the show to get more gift ideas as well. during my walks i found 3 cents.

ukraine exhibit, mill city museum

after digging out my car from the snowstorm that happened overnight, i had to get started on errand running. once i got some of it done i got on the light rail and went to mill city museum in minneapolis to see the ukraine exhibit. this was in the commons area, near the souvenir shop, no admission needed. there was 41 photos on the wall. i decided it had to be this weekend as the exhibit had just started a week ago but i knew the next three weekends were already booked and it only runs until mid-may. when i was there i spoke of the song 'miss sarajevo', about the bosnian war, which U2 did with pavarotti, the opera singer. how i am aware that war can become art at any time. when a lady gave an opinion about one image, i said it was general sherman who said 'war is hell'. some were actually taken years before the current war began, but all of them were good at capturing the moment. i was most moved by the ones of people in residential areas. the one way on the left is of a girl on a swing next to some housing that had been bombed. after i was satisfied with getting a good look at the display, i bought some postcards inside the souvenir shop. then it was back on the light rail. i have done a full tour of this museum before, but not today as there were other things i wanted to do. i got to most things on my list,  but not dumping change at the credit union. once i got my car dug out, i didn't have enough time to get there so it means moving it back a week. there was one order to pick up at the post office. and then i got some pizza at a speedway gas station. then on the aldi for groceries. after aldi it was to the museum. when i got back from the museum i watched some of the baseball game on Fox, giants-yanks, giants won a close one, getting a double play to end it as the rain was falling. then on to jersey mike's for a sandwich, and hy-vee for groceries. but this week only four items. i like loyalty programs, and per the cashier recommend i will be signing up for the jersey mike's account soon. i've been there often enough lately, so why not? this was my sixth visit of the year. later on i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 25 cents.
