Charlie Brown 50 Years

I stayed home tonight for two reasons. One of them was knowing the Charlie Brown 50th anniversary show would be on. The other was the snow. It is hard for me to give up a regular night at the comedy club, but those two reasons made my decision really easy. As a big Charlie Brown fan there wasn't all that much new information in this anniversary show. But I was left wondering which special was the one where Linus is waiting for the Great Pumpkin and a bowling ball shows up instead. It wasn't the 'Great Pumpkin' special as it was Snoopy as a World War One flying ace.
There was definitely not a bowling ball in that one.
There are some specials I have never heard of and haven't seen yet. The Obamas were part of this tribute show, as well as various musicians performing songs that have been on the Charlie Brown specials. This included Boys 2 Men. I enjoyed watching it, as I liked hearing about the documentary that preceded the 1965 Christmas special. Then I saw the actual Christmas special, and I am not sure what was on after it but it was vignettes and had Snoopy dressed in a Santa costume. There was an ad for 'I want a dog for Christmas' which will be shown on the same network, ABC, in mid-December.
I ate at Taco Bell tonight and it looks like they jazzed up the cardboard taco holders with words and pictures, I did get photos of this. I also went to check on my car and clear the snow off as there was a snowstorm today. It meant I arrived at work over 30 minutes late, and I was not even close to being alone. Odd how my normal bus now arrived 5 minutes early, I just missed it. And I didn't see another one for nearly an hour. So of course I was disgusted. The volume on the payoff report was lower than typical for a Monday, which is nice. The settled and paid in full letters were also low volume, just three. Two in my department were out of the office, and a third, my work spouse, did a half day. I confirmed how many vacation days I have left to use, it is four and a half. So I will want to figure out soon when to use them, even though I can carry some over I am used to needing to use them before year end.

American Inventions, Time/Life

I needed to get trash bags at the grocery store and decided to get a special magazine I had seen on display as well. It is called 'American Inventions', published by Time/Life. The cover has various photos, including a doll (probably Barbie), a baseball, Tom Edison, Henry Ford, a traffic light, a teddy bear, a zipper, blue jeans, and a hamburger. I have read through some of it already and some of it is familiar with what I was taught in history classes- my college major- or what I have learned on my own. It is good that it covers a wide variety of inventions, as there are seven sections. They are: building America, the office, food, recreation, health and medicine, apparel, and technology. I liked seeing mention of the polio vaccine. I had heard older generations talk about knowing people who suffered from polio, and I am thankful to know it mainly as a history book item. It is nice to say 'There is a vaccine for that'. I said the same when Dad spoke about being ill and unable to accept awards at 8th grade country school graduation. Two of those diseases- measles and mumps- I had to get a vaccine for before I was able to take a job in a nursing home. Some of the more recent ones- like in the technology section- I am not quite as familiar with, especially when I don't use all of those gadgets. I try to keep it simple.
I am not sure what is wrong with the kitchen sink as it is slow to drain again, even after putting Drano in it recently, and the garbage disposal doesn't run when turned on. I still got the dishes done today, but it likely took a little longer as I was dumping the water in the bathroom sink. I also got the laundry done, and after having dinner at home I went to the comedy club. Opera singer was MC, and a guitar player was the final act.
Also at the comedy club, Opera singer did ones about no jellyfish, BYO service, no phone for a week, hiking near river, beer-tender, and back by dumpsters. Maryland did ones about like a ninja, Obama, turning 30, chase a squirrel, strip club, pay to watch violence, it's called going outside, and water on Mars. Werewolf did ones about can I kiss it?, petting zoo, and drug test. Chalm Skinn did ones about bubble wrap on road, flying to D.C., and jack and gin. Ice cream did ones about a scooper, 7th last thanksgiving, and develop trail mix. Note page did ones about bleaching, joke is on them, comb over, socks, and Best Buy blue-ray. Long straw did ones about plot to resurrect, smashed pennies, fedora wearers, and Big Bang Theory. Yemen native did ones about mom got divorced, McChicken, cheating wife, Jay-Z, play with toothbrushes, and catch with feet.

Cranberry, Pumpkin Donuts

I did a redemption of points on my Super-America account this morning. I went with the vanilla Visa card, and thankfully it was discounted on the number of points needed. I also decided to look at the stats on certain clubs while at the kiosk. One of them was the donut club, 2 more and then a free one. So at another location, I got two- cranberry and pumpkin flavored. It did make me think of two music groups I enjoyed- the Cranberries, and the Smashing Pumpkins. I saw both in concert at the Mark in Moline, IL, in 1996. And on 89.3 the Current, they did do a 1995 segment and this included playing the Pumpkins song '1979'. I tried going to the repair shop to have the tire looked at but it was still busy. After a few minutes of waiting, and nobody acknowledged me, I said to myself 'I have had enough' and left. This was when I went to the Super-America, as I had planned on going there soon anyway.
I got the second DVD returned to the library, then went to a Target to get more sheets for storing baseball cards. I knew full well I would also look at the music and movie section, to see if there was anything for Charlie Brown and snoopy that I didn't have yet. I had to choose and decided to get 'Snoopy Come Home' as there was just one copy left. There were more copies available on the others. With 'Bon Voyage' I already have it on VHS but I prefer a DVD copy. I of course was thinking of the Bill Anderson song 'Get while the getting is good' as to what I chose to get.
I went to two comedy shows tonight, performed at the first one. I got a guest set as it was offered by Bathtub, the headliner. Opera singer was at the second show, a magician was headliner there.
At the first show, Mr. Pibb did ones about cop in trunk, Dad's kisses, the belt, and IUD poking. Next comic knows Netflix comic, and grew up in Memphis. He did ones about what that is like, wait for elevator song, wake up a baby, acting class, and pro wrestling. Netflix did ones about emotional intimacy, cervical exam, fat or hot, Wisconsin frat house, hunger games, southern rap, wear plaid, eating cake, like aspirin, meat and potatoes, and don't talk like that. Others were about homeless in Chicago, Ellen DeGeneres, answer to riddle, Target cashier, plan b and Sudafed, Dr. Who, jealous of the bear, natural selection, regal club member, lesbians, DMV, condoms, buys me Cheetos, looks like Adele, and duo power couple.  Bathtub did ones about light bulbs, sheet rock, brought cinnamon rolls, wife's job, Mad Men, activating rivers, summoned buffalo, healing new age room, white water rafting, playing clarinet, get a rescue dog, dogs on Instagram, 2 year wedding anniversary, twist ties, cable TV, and Gilbert Grape.
At the second show, Tetris did ones about Reddit, Everest guideposts, call of duty, and IMAX crew. Opera singer did ones about no jellyfish, flax seeds and water, lifetime fitness, multi vitamins, whiskey, fish tacos, all of your skin, Bible drinking game, Genesis, Phil Collins, Tarzan, big brother in history, and little brother art teacher. Others were about fort next to airport, promotion in fake army, crowd work boat captain, going rogue, hiking near river, time saving life hacks, emergency toilet, university lifeguard, tornado call from his lady, cougar bait, tree frog, and opera pickup line. Headliner was an only child, and did ones about Wells Fargo, Trojan, and Valley-fair. I may have seen this magician before as I had seen a newspaper trick at this same venue previously.

Charge Of The Light Brigade

I watched 2 DVDs on loan from the library today, The second was 'Charge of The Light Brigade', starring Errol Flynn from the 1930s. I knew it had been a famous poem and this poem is referenced in the movie. A big part of the story was the love triangle, two brothers loving the same woman. I did laugh a little about one character, a high society lady that just wouldn't shut up. I also liked the special features on it, like a cartoon called 'Boom Boom', I think it had a World War One theme. It looked like there were other movies in this special features section. One was about Patrick Henry, a figure from the American Revolution, called 'Give Me Liberty' and the other starring Bob Hope, called 'Shop Talk'.
The first one I watched today was called 'Made in America', about a music festival created by Jay-Z. Ron Howard directed it. I liked seeing Pearl Jam in it as well. The setting was Philadelphia, and in the background I did see a sign for the art museum, which gave me a perspective as to where it was in the city. I had been there for a vacation in 2003 and did see the art museum then.
I typed up a writing I am submitting for a contest at the library in the afternoon, then asked about getting my car looked at as one tire often needs air shoved into it. They said they were too busy, and I was advised to come back in the morning. So I went home to see some of the Iowa-Nebraska football game. Iowa led 14-10 at the half and I got home in time to see the start of the second half. Iowa went on to win 28-20, so they finished the regular season 12-0, first time undefeated in my lifetime. I fell asleep for a little while, but woke up in time to see the kneel down at the end of the game. I didn't miss much, just a field goal.
I didn't go to the comedy club tonight, as there were other things I wanted to get done like watch the DVD. I finished the thanksgiving dinner from Buca Di Beppo, and after the 10pm news I went to the grocery store and got a slice of Spam along with cheese sticks and Lay's honey BBQ chips.

Letter To President Clinton

For this Thanksgiving, I mostly watched football on TV. But I also went through a box of college papers. There were a few other things in it besides that. It included a copy of a letter I sent to President Clinton dated January 7, 2001. It started off by saying I almost forgot to write before his term in office ended. I spoke of being thankful for college aid programs, and seeing his speech at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City when I was in college. He was running for re-election, in early 1996. I spoke of wanting to see his presidential library in Arkansas, but so far I still haven't. I did get a comment from Neck Tattoo, who asked if he wrote back and apologized for NAFTA and Glass Steagall? I said I didn't know who the latter was. I looked it up on Wikipedia and it was a law passed during the Depression. All I found from Clinton's term was mention of Gramm Leach Bliley, which I understand was a repeal of it. I have to know about GLB as I work in finance.
Actually one of the three football games I listened to on the radio, Bears-Packers, the third game of the day. Couldn't get it on TV as the channel wouldn't scan, it was on NBC. But it worked fine to catch it on the radio. Bears won 17-13, and led at halftime 14-13. It was a much closer game than the other two. It was nice to see a 'Big Bang Theory' rerun, it was the season opening episode which I had missed when it was first aired.
I liked getting out a little today. I called in a take-out order at Buca Di Beppo and was told it was more than an hour wait for it to be ready. That was just after 2pm. So I decided to walk up to the Super-America and got a bottle of Heineken beer to drink with the meal. I also got two Reese's peanut butter trees. It filled in the time well. I was noticed by one of the servers when I went to pick it up, somebody I knew from the comedy circuit but I haven't seen him at the clubs in a while. I know him as Worthington's friend. The two employees that helped me were interested in how I do comedy, and spoke of wanting to try it. After I left I could still hear one of them through the exit door, saying my name, which was kind of funny to me. I've understood this before, how doing comedy does impress some people. I also took the time to get something written for a contest, as the deadline is coming soon. I can get it typed at the library this weekend and then submit it. Before that I read through what I had wrote for each of the previous 8 years, as I don't read it too often.

Parking Meter Changes

I noticed there will be parking meter changes taking effect in downtown St. Paul just after January 1. Now it means paying the meter until 10pm. When I saw it earlier somebody wrote on it, 'We didn't vote on this'. I had heard some plans for this earlier, but on Grand Avenue it is not happening. At the office it was a fairly easy day. One never knows what to expect just before the holiday. I spoke of hearing about the 'Crisis before the holiday' before, where some demanding person says it needs to be done now. What, it can't wait until after the holiday?
I liked performing at the comedy club tonight. many said they liked what I do. One called me a staple but I think I prefer the term fixture.
I did find what little I kept from the low-income TRIO programs I was in when attending high school and college. One was a program from the college graduation banquet. The other was 2 newsletters listing me as a letter winner and plans to attend the University of Iowa. It took a little while to figure out what box it was in. But there was a reason why I buried it, I was ashamed of being in a low-income program.
Also at the comedy club, the show runner did baby give me one more chance. Airway did give it if you got it. Spoken word did it's crimson, it's liquid, beyond transgression, tungsten, legitimate actions, and caught up in past tense. Rumor did you can make me frown can't break me down, psyche, fight, do what you got to do. Rapper did captive to the system, wedding, and camo coat. Others were about searched for silver lining, trying to save the world, and telling us lies. Keyboard, electric piano did sounds like reggae, logic man. This is who called me a staple. And I got the 'how right I was' feeling, not sure why I am still keeping track but I should use this standard on dating in terms of if I keep them around. Then there was no woman, no crime, everything is going to be all right. Jessie J did without live, where would you be right now? Guitar playing, sweet home Chicago, and purple rain by Prince. The guitar player I met at another club did Coke machine in parking lot, haven't seen you since New Orleans, been to his hotel before, this is my battle cry, and you know how I feel. Another guitar player did give 3 cheers for the drink of the year, beer. It was followed by best things in life are free, that's what I want. Summer did buy me a Mercedes Benz, and touched down in the land of the delta blues. I just thought of a college roommate, as he once lived in Memphis and I haven't seen him in 7 years. Show runner did play that funky music. This was followed by superstitious, writing on the wall, lost my 4 leaf clover, green mushroom shirt. Steel guitar did ones about try to phone the one that is home, drinking drugs support the economy, she called it Mississippi blues. Radio Ali did blood on top of my dandelions, materialistic, static, if you want it you can have it, song on sound cloud, wicked, tattoo arms, Wild hat, say it ain't so, and carry me home.

Educational Talent Search

A match from internet dating spoke of being a program manager for college-ready programs. I said I was in one as I was from a low-income family. The high school version was called Educational Talent Search and the college version was Special Support Services. I actually didn't like qualifying for either program, as I am prideful and didn't want anyone looking down on me. There were some nice things about it in spite of my pride. We saw the play 'The Government Inspector' at Central College in Pella, IA, who administered the program at my high school. Even though Pella wasn't the town in grew up in. There was fee waivers for college applications and mileage reimbursement for campus visits. For the college version I recall every so often meeting with counselors who said they had checked in with my instructors. Then there was a graduation banquet. When I wasn't doing well in a science class they got me a tutor but that wasn't really necessary in my book. Especially when I majored in history and was just taking the minimum science requirements to graduate. I recall writing down in my day planner book that I was 'Labeled remedial' because of my pride.
It was nice performing tonight at the comedy club. I did some of the jokes from Sunday like the ones about the new laptop, and the burlesque show. Another was inspired by Long Straw doing a joke about smashed penny souvenirs and I said I had plenty of them. I like having them as they are cheap souvenirs.
Also at the comedy club, Blind Side did ones about the 1998 Chicago Bulls, 19 and counting, Amber Alert, mashed potatoes, adopted, from Atlanta, X-box, group therapy, and lie about parents. Nebraska did ones about the venue's wall art, dog food commercials, Wendy's, and have a nice life. Fish noodle did ones about a one-week road trip, and going to NE Wisconsin. Long straw did ones about fedora and cardigan, besides the one about smashed pennies. Werewolf did ones about a petting zoo, natural hair color, drug test, public shaming, and reefer madness. Blake did ones about stick figure family, Taco Bell drive-thru, spider in grapes, doing laundry, cupcake wars, and kindergarten graduation. Former bartender did ones about guns and drugs, joke and speech, ambidextrous, parking spot, animal shelter, and strip club. Wee bit did ones about put wallet away, no tattoos, and high on allergy pills. Cee-note did ones about driving through Nebraska, abortion billboards, and boss thinks he's better than me.

Single Baby Shoe

At the comedy club tonight I saw Belarus carry around a single baby shoe. Nothing really surprises me anymore about this comic. Especially after Mason City once spoke about Andy Kaufman doing some similar stunts. I got another calendar from the Union of Concerned Scientists in the mail this evening, so three straight years. I plan on displaying it at the office, same as the previous ones. I did some politicking before and after the show tonight so I am doing my best to line up more shows I will be performing at. Always plenty of people I know when I go to the clubs, and the lineup can change a lot each week in terms of who is in town.
Also at the comedy club, Blake did ones about do laundry, cupcake wars, stick figure, Taco Bell drive-thru, and spider in grapes. Whopper did ones about a sex riot, text message, pimping, and kissing in the car. Werewolf did ones about Spotify playlist, title joke, free range chicken, and one grandparent left. The crow did ones about tear up pictures, fast furious, mushrooms, wait tables in Hopkins, and hillbilly weddings. Former bartender did ones about she's Canadian, glasses, coupon book, Yelp review, and naked text. Yemen native did ones about child left behind, birth control pills, Chick-fil-A, Tinder, student loan debt, and dildo at school. Turtle check did ones about deer screaming, mountain biking, bow hunter, winter weight, and eating over sink. Brawler did ones about read the room, gangster niece, Chia pet, Ike and Tina Turner, and grandma's funeral. Maryland did ones about sex tape, shot lion, Friends on Netflix, turning 30, strip club, pay per view, and water on Mars. University accountant did ones about Rosedale Mall, MOA, office microwave oven, Pringles can, YouTube, and fitted sheet. Three by three did ones about pearly gates, bacteria, seat belts, dad drinking, and raised Catholic. Worthington did ones about scared straight, tiny Bond villain, cyber bully Dad, baby CPR, Legos, Laffy Taffy, and Joe Montana. Extra murder did ones about Saturday Night Fever, hooligans, Beetlejuice, automatic door, and speeding tickets. Tetris did ones about rock climbing gym, hunger games, Everest documentary, and a cat shirt. Bathtub did ones about dance moves, activate rivers, white water rafting, cardigan, and clarinet. Sub teacher did ones about angry grandpa, rivers of blood, Ted Bundy, stop a family, Chanhassen wedding, and Dahmer. Wee bit did ones about party bus, sports team names, contractors, large Marge, and state fair corn dog. School bouncer did ones about Omar, the wire, school fight, sit down shower, football celebrations, internet trolling, and Lady Gaga. Opera singer did ones about U of M lifeguard, big skeeters, no phone one week, history re-enactor, and massage therapist.

Charade Movie, Cary Grant

I watched the second of two DVD movies from the library earlier today, before the Bears-Broncos football game started. It was 'Charade', starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. I also liked seeing James Coburn and Walter Matthau in it. There were plenty of twists and turns in it, as it was kind of a spy thriller but also a comedy. I decided to get both of them back right away to the library even though they were on loan for a week. I got two more, but with the holiday coming up it should be no problem finding the time to watch both. The Bears lost 17-15, they didn't play well, two interceptions didn't help. I had hoped to get chores done earlier but it was not to be. This included doing dishes but I noticed when I was washing out containers for recycle that it wasn't draining at all. So it meant going to the grocery store and get a bottle of Drano. It works well, but I don't like having to use it. I did this during the game, in the second half. It was after I had already been to the Family Dollar at halftime to get dish soap.
I liked getting stage time tonight at a pub in downtown Minneapolis. It sounds like this is a new comedy venue. I found some material on the way there, taking the light rail. It was an interaction with another rider. What I didn't like was seeing two more photos of me on Facebook that people started commenting on before I got home. I said 'And this is why I no longer sit next to the stage at another venue'. And I probably won't at this one either. They were taken and posted without my knowledge or consent. Brawler is the MC of this show, and no he didn't take these photos.

Spectre Movie, James Bond

I saw the latest James Bond movie, 'Spectre', at the Grandview theater in St. Paul tonight. What makes Bond films entertaining and suspenseful is not WHAT the ending is but HOW they get there, the 'Thrill of the chase' as I call it. I like seeing what they do in each movie with what Bond is known for. I liked it except it was a little long, at 2 1/2 hours. I got plenty of photos of this venue, as I hadn't been there in a while. I went to the last showing of the evening, and I didn't see anyone in the lobby when I left.
I also have two DVDs on loan from the library to watch. One of them is 'Charade', starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. It is called a deliciously dark comedic thriller, a 60's spy classic. The other I did watch shortly after getting home, it was 'All the King's Men', the 1949 version starring Broderick Crawford. I liked one line in it about we are all conceived of sin and born into corruption. I knew it was largely based on Louisiana politician Huey Long, who was assassinated in 1935. The DVD also had a preview for another version, the 2006 version starring Sean Penn.
After I picked up these two movies at the library, I went to Best Buy and picked up my new laptop. I was annoyed at one employee saying I needed an appointment. But another said I didn't. I checked my Hotmail account and the blog in the store. I like thinking about firsts, and for this one it meant going to YouTube and listening to the Pink song 'Today's The Day', one I had heard on the radio recently. I like the 'Stop the clock' sentiment in it. I do talk about the 'How right I was' feeling, a self-validating moment, and the song seems to be about this kind of feeling.

Palace Burlesque Show

I attended the Palace burlesque show in downtown St. Paul tonight. So it means a night off from the comedy club. I had seen a play before about burlesque at the History Theater, and of course there was a Simpsons episode about it as well. Where Bart worked at one, though Homer didn't want to tell Marge about it. I also went to the Chicago hot dog place as I hadn't been there in a little while. I really liked this show, seeing the way the dancers used their outfits and the music to tell a story. I liked seeing one of them do a reference to the movie 'Wayne's World' by having an outfit like Garth, and dancing to 'Foxy Lady' by Jimi Hendrix. I hadn't seen the movie in a while, but I recognized what it was right away. Another takeaway was the one who danced to a Mary Poppins song, and she had the outfit to match right down to the parasol. It was 'spoonful of sugar'. I said I will never look at that movie the same way again. The dancers had two musical numbers each during this show, and there was two MCs. Though as a comic I didn't think the MCs were all that funny, but as many of you know I have become a comedy snob. This was bound to happen as I have been to plenty of shows and have seen plenty of comics. By now I can easily recognize what works and what doesn't for me. One of them was drinking down beers real quick. I liked how there was no cover, and donations were accepted up front on buckets on the stage.
We had a Roosevelt mentoring event at the U of Minnesota earlier today, and it meant a glimpse inside the Weisman art museum. I still need to go back and see the entire museum at some point. Looks like the museum is free admission, which does make it easier for anyone who wants to go. I am still surprised how I go to the University all of the time but haven't been there. This building is next to the student union. I liked getting some small souvenirs at the campus bookstore. This included some little buttons saying things like 'Be nice or leave'. I had been to this place to get them before, it reminds me of some of those I had bought at a boutique near my hotel and the St. Louis airport. One of the magnets said 'how come people who claim to know it all don't know when to shut up?' I have known plenty of know it alls so I had them in mind when I bought it. This is also why I like the Kelly Clarkson song called 'Mr. Know it All'.

Olives And Grapes

At the office today there was salad in the break room, at first I thought grapes were in it. But a colleague said it was olives. I didn't want to eat the olives. This is a newer colleague, very chatty and a native of India. She asked why I was stressed out when the bus was late, well of course it was because I was afraid of losing my job due to the recent rigid attendance policy. The best game plan still seems to be taking an earlier bus, and having time to read in a break room before I need to report. Or if I want to do other things like walk around the skyway, then I can. I don't exercise much aside from walking anyway as I want to spend time online during my lunch hour. Then I am known for burning up half of it for this reason and having limited time to eat.
Naturally it is fine to have a night off from the comedy clubs every week like tonight is. I am hopeful that the new laptop is ready soon as I hate having to go to a FedEx office or the library to type on this blog. I know I have some followers that are used to me posting an entry nearly every day, and I like the exercise of writing. Thanksgiving is next week, not sure yet of all of my plans but it will be nice to have some time off from work. It is likely that I will go get dinner at Buca DiBeppo. But I have no reservation yet, and aside from this not much else is planned. Hopefully I am motivated enough to get caught up on some things like cleanup around my home.

Laptop Number Two

I had to go to Best Buy tonight for an appointment on my laptop, advised to get another one. Now it means waiting for it to be ready. I enjoyed performing comedy after that.
At the comedy club, a native of Haiti did ones about another freestyle, a time when I was really quiet and shy, and a shout out to Nicki Minaj. Spoken words did ones about sight of jail makes me nervous, fulfilling my purpose, Stevie Wonder, profits and prophets, and south side Chicago to St. Paul. Rumor did ones about fists in the air wave them like you just don't care, and lazy people who don't want to tip. A tall man collapsed, he was probably 'lit'. I hadn't heard this term for 'drunk' before. A guitar player did Sunday bring me back to me, rest your bones with me, never going to leave. Then the house band and show runner did New York, dreams will make you feel brand new will inspire you. Spoken words spoke of being at E-2 the night of the tragedy in Chicago in 2003, sliding right out. Electric piano did one about please Mr. officer. Reggae was gun shots to stop. Rapper did I can do it like Eminem, dough boy. Acoustic guitar did I love your eyes, voice so sweet like an angel. A rapper did eat you for dinner. Enable mind did can't sleep, can't eat, bring back original rap, we rock we rock we rock. Show runner did do the Babe Ruth, no not the candy bar. Airway did maybe it's OK, maybe it's a good day. House music was get on up, by James Brown. Radio Ali did prospects, process, reach for the sun.

Insert Boot Disk

This was the message I had on my laptop, and it is annoying that it isn't working. Insert boot disk, don't know what that means, didn't think I have one. This is especially true when the line was too long at the Best Buy in Roseville to get help. What do you mean I need an appointment?
I got tired of waiting so I left and went to the comedy club. International Falls did ones about Facebook and Twitter tragedies, street harasser, rapist union, watch mom cry, wearing a shawl, onion, surgery, and hide from mom. Blake did ones about stick figure family, Taco Bell drive-thru, spider in grapes, laundry, 7 episodes, and kindergarten grad. Fargo Moorhead did ones about Death Cab for Cutie, that's lamb, ads on YouTube, Walmart fruit, and baby spiders. Jersey video did ones about Risky Business, Syria refugees, ice cream sandwich, slut shaming, Costco- drunk or high?, Ducktales, and he does a podcast. The crow did ones about Woodbury chess club, driving to Bozeman, Roosevelt National Park, cute British girl, and bus tickets back home.

Little Debbie Cloud Cakes

I have bought some Little Debbie snack cakes as they were using Charlie brown characters to promote the movie. There were four kinds and all that is left is four cloud cakes, like Hostess Twinkies. I sent them home from the office. I finished up the nutty bars and cupcakes earlier today.
I made it to the comedy club tonight, politicking helped a little on hearing about more stage time. And I liked getting a shout-out from the 'Extra murder' comic.

The Peanuts Movie

I saw the Peanuts movie at the Highland Park theater in St. Paul tonight. I loved it, I laughed, I wiped away a tear at the end, and got compliments about the Charlie Brown trucker hat I was wearing. I liked how some characters were brought back that I hadn't seen in a while. This included Frieda, Shermy, and Patty #1 (not Peppermint Patty, they just have the same name). For those who have seen the TV specials, it wasn't much different. I know this is also what the senior leader at my office said, a good way of summing it up without it being a spoiler. But as a big fan this is what I liked about it, the familiar. I will have to get the soundtrack, the music was good in it. It looks like Meghan Trainor has two songs in it, I liked those. 'Feels Good to be Alive' and 'Feel Better When I am Dancing', or something like that. When I got home I even decided to do a selfie in my outfit, as of course I was wearing a Charlie Brown shirt as well.
I also went to a memorial march that began at the Alliance Francaise this afternoon, related to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris. We walked down to the Basilica, and I had a candle for the walk. There was a vespers service at the Basilica, first time there. I did get a lot of pictures of course, wanting to remember the day as best as possible. I was in the background in some of the footage that I saw on TV, where the march began. As I recall it was channel 5, the ABC affiliate. Je suis Francais Huguenot, je suis un Parisien. Prayers for Paris.

Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld

I went to a secondhand store today to find a replacement denim jacket, but couldn't find a suitable one. I did find a Jerry Seinfeld comedy DVD and an Adam Sandler comedy CD. Adam's CD includes the Hanukkah song that I had heard on Saturday Night Live. So now it means finding the time to listen or watch them. I also went to a sports bar in the evening and saw some of the Iowa-Minnesota football game. I saw the end of it at the comedy club, Iowa won 40-35 to stay undefeated and are now 10-0. School Bouncer and Radio Personality were performing, I didn't know the headliner.
School bouncer was MC, and did ones about it's late, congrats on not dying, bought a bed skirt, smart to put a ring on it, hold your breath, a god kid, she's 5, self assemble bike, Netflix or Hulu, check the fridge, successfully single, not your birthday, it's an audition, late text message, and Dad's Wi-Fi password.
Radio personality did ones about you need to believe him, long term house guests, I'm a pilgrim, send old people to Arizona, we're very exotic, 19 and counting, string bikini mom at pool, apple orchard, 3 legged dog, garage sale mom, get a puppet, cargo pants, you are winning at life, sword collection, spoiled babies, and gangster squirrels. Others were about don't cook them, Sarah Mac, Ted Nugent, tired of running, fan sleeping, garbage truck driver, Eminem in 8-mile, Halle Berry, and not brushing teeth.
Headliner did ones about on so many pills, 4 more years, number 1 or 2, give him Asian bingo, JC Penney, bereavement, fake breast exploded, and what is she smoking. Long Wait For Air

My first stop tonight before going out to events was to a gas station to get air in a tire. It took something like 20 minutes as there was somebody in front of me that kept checking things, before and after going inside for snack food. Eventually I told my self 'I have had enough' and finally asked them how much longer. Usually I don't have to wait at all when doing this chore.
First stop was to the Soap Factory for a 'Creep prom'. I didn't know that many people there so I stayed for an hour and then went on to the comedy club. There was some snack foods like chips and little cupcakes and baby carrots but nothing like pizza.
At the comedy club, Tortoise did ones about lazy, early bird, Bob Dylan, Hobbit, paranoid, rapping at bus stop, and the same Gap. Woody did ones about friends with benefits, diapers, and ex-police car. Yemen native did ones about dildo at school, pepper spray, Wendy's employee, met on Tinder, and catch with feet. Jesse James Movie

Tonight I stayed in and watched a movie on DVD, 'Jesse James' starring Brad Pitt. I do recall seeing it at the theater back in 2007, and I don't think I had seen it since. I had bought it at a Family Dollar back in September, the same weekend I went to the Jesse James festival in Northfield, and probably should have watched it much earlier. I was tired so it was a fight to stay awake. But the gun shots in it helped the most on staying awake. Once they showed Bob Ford shooting Jesse, I was attentive for the rest of it. Seeing it again did remind me of the lasting impressions at theaters. I liked the narration in it, as plenty of good information was given this way. It reinforces what I have said before about studying history- how it is largely the 'Fame game'. In this case, the fame that went with shooting Jesse. And I liked how there were many outdoor scenes, as the countryside where it was filmed looks great. I was familiar with how it was filmed in Canada, according to the closing credits it was in Edmonton and Winnipeg. I also recalled the write-up in the Minneapolis paper which said the story begins after the Northfield robbery- which is not shown, but is mentioned.
Before watching the movie, I saw 2 episodes of 'Big Bang Theory'. Syndicated rerun was when Howard spoke of having couples counseling- with Raj and not Bernadette. And Leonard had surgery. Prime time episode was where Amy Farrah Fowler goes out on a third date and her friends want to spy on her. Sheldon is also trying to meet somebody new. I still don't know how I feel about them being broken up. But I also know it is all about the ratings. And it is still a funny but smart show.
In other issues, I shared a photo from last month's Charlie Brown event in downtown St. Paul on Facebook. It already has 40 likes, second only to one I posted of another comic onstage. I ordered both of this comic's CDs from Amazon tonight. It cost me just 30 cents as I used $20 in gift card money from answering surveys at Enterprise rent-a-car, as well as an award from my employer. I have one gift card left now, it was just awarded to me this week. I don't think I have written about this comic much, but he is known for holding the microphone out like he is pointing with it to the crowd and likes to say the venue name and the night of the week at the start of his set. He has performed at the famous Sturgis bike rally.

NWCT 12, Brooklyn Park

This is one day where saying I live 'the manic life of a comedian' is true. There were 3 places where I got stage time. The first was filming a sketch, it was at NWCT 12 in Brooklyn Park. We got cookies and pizza in the break room. Then Maryland rode with me to the next place, a crowd work show in Minneapolis, it is hosted by Belarus. Then I told the story of this day at the third, where I was in somebody's selfie after the show. It made me feel good to get this recognition. I did a half day at work to make it possible, and when I got home I fell asleep in my easy chair before I did much else. It took a while to get to Brooklyn Park, as it was rush hour and was raining. I was in dire need of a bathroom, and stopped at a Wendy's once I arrived in the town, not far from the venue. I was in such a rush that I nearly had my pants down before opening the bathroom door, hopefully nobody saw this. At least nobody said anything. Get in and get out is my credo.
I had a small role in the sketch, where we sang to the tune of 'John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt'. I helped with picking out some of the props in the back room, I liked seeing an American flag on a stand. Radio personality and Maryland had speaking parts in it, I was behind the 'collapsible walls' that were moved to the side once we started singing. I put on a hat and a sweater to blend in with the others. Since I happened to be going to the same place as Maryland after it was done, he rode with me. Somebody paid me for this favor, don't recall who, so I am counting it as a paid gig. I felt bad about the leaky roof in my car, but I hardly ever have people riding with me. We spoke at length, which was nice, hardly ever get the chance. Notable was how both of our moms seemed to be overprotective related to us wanting to get a driver license. At the crowd work show, I am thankful I had no interference during this set, unlike before. I even said so to Belarus, and sadly I had an annoying dude interrupt me and say 'that is comedy'. WRONG! if that is done at most shows, one gets arrested or least bounced. Obviously this dude doesn't know comedy, and I see people like this all the time who think they do. I think this second show was where one couple was becoming a big part of the show, as it was mentioned how they were together but they weren't. something like both were divorced before they met, and because of it didn't want to get married. I had heard of this arrangement before, I think my college roommate spoke of something similar after his dad was widowed. there would be a cutback in social security benefits if they got married.

Patriotic Donuts

This morning at the office there was donuts with either red white or blue frosting on them. I had 2, both blue. It was part of the Veterans Day events this week. I was covering for a colleague who is out of the office for the day but it was no problem as the volume on the payoff report is much lower compared to a Monday. And there was no new titles to do, though there was new contracts.
At the comedy club I did add another joke to the set compared to last night, about a text message from my phone provider that mentions Emma Watson. I was tired and sitting on a couch, and it became harder to stay awake near the end of the show.
Also at the comedy club, International Falls did ones about wants bangs, adult 3rd graders, Facebook arguments, friend dumped, and street harasser. Note Page did ones about Twitter followers, and mom and hepatitis. Bus Fare did ones about Prince, Willy Wonka, Bobby McFerrin, Bob Dylan, and little mermaid crab. Poster artist did ones about porridge, how many universes, mark my words, and Beach Boys. Others were about guest book, friend's wedding, who is Charles, and Lord of Rings disc.

Michael Bolton

At the comedy club tonight, some photos of musician Michael Bolton were ripped out of a book. I got one of them as a souvenir. It was nice performing as usual, I did plenty of jokes about interactions with people about the Charlie Brown movie.
Also at the comedy club, the button played guitar. She did ones about not a walk of shame, the same outfit. I got the 'how right I was' feeling, or also called 'a self-validating moment'. Sub teacher did ones about Vietnam poetry, Obama, Ted Bundy, drone awards, angry grandpa, rivers of blood, worth with children, North Korea, a song for everything, and rise and shine. Others were about Chanhassen wedding, Dahmer, Pilate, and musketeer. Small World, so named as he had it played on violin at one show, did one about being German Polish. Others were about phone at urinal, call center job, eating in bathroom, walked out, just better at it, coach Little League team, poking with a stick, and watch box cars. This was followed by Facebook profiles, Dad in prison, bubble bath, when properly motivated, gentrified neighborhood, and naked and afraid.

Malaysia Coin

I was doing laundry and the dollar bill changer spit out a Malaysia coin. Most people would have been upset at this, but not me as I like collecting coins. It says 20 sen and is from 2010. Hard to tell what is on the back. It is the same size as an American quarter. Not a typical day with chores and errand running as I also had an oil change today. I gave my business card to another patron, I said in case the internet date doesn't work out. I was reading an article in MSP magazine and it was about the Charlie Brown movie, and the other patron had been to it with an ex and their kid. Another thing I did related to my coin collection was to get the Canadian pennies into the mylars and coin album, there was 34 in the folder. Now there are 47 Canadian coins in the album, as it includes 9 older pennies and 4 other coins of higher value.
I went to an event in the late afternoon in Minneapolis, and heard a man play a guitar. Nothing unusual there, except he played the neck with both hands. There was also a young man playing 'What's up' by 4 Non Blondes, a reminder of being in college as it was a hit song then. This was also a song that was helpful last year after the passing of Bill Young. When I was driving to see Big Dog perform about a week later, it was on my car radio and I was looking for a song I could scream along to. It seems to suggest it anyway when some of the lyrics happen to be 'scream at the top of my lungs'.

Allison Road, Gin Blossoms

At the grocery store tonight I heard the song 'Allison Road' by the Gin Blossoms. It did remind me of being in college and attending their concert at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. 'I did not know I was lost at the time' was a lyric from it. I think it was on one more than one album, the breakthrough one called New Miserable Experience, and an earlier one. After driving back from the comedy club tonight I liked hearing 'Hello' by Adele, it has been played often since its recent release. Before the first show I attended, where Big Dog was headliner, they played an Eminem song that mentioned 'little too late'. Number 25, Wee bit, and Sub teacher were at the second show at another club. I also went to the Church Basement Ladies play in Plymouth this afternoon. I had seen number 4 and 5 in the series and they are repeating number 1. It started in June and its run wraps up in a week.
At the first comedy show, the MC did ones about a pregnant lesbian, ginger bear, Montana, not good at being gay, adopted dog, bucket, dumpster, mermaid, hockey, and Nancy Kerrigan. A newer comic, recently moved from Knoxville, TN, apparently, did ones about I'm Jim now, liquor store, and owner's birthday. Others were about having a baby, 2 against 1, People magazine, Us, You, swear at foreigner, and shakes hand with crowd member. Next was Wisconsin billboard, Life Goes On, buy own groceries, erotic novel, chivalry is dead, and pregnant lady jogging. Finally there was 2 liter Coke bottle, Gonzo Muppet, Gary Busey, yellow walls dirty blanket, Dahmer, Menendez brothers, real estate brokers, steaming gargoyle, prostitute metaphor, and Gallagher concert.
Second show had sub teacher as MC. He did ones about Dad at MOA, homeless defensive coordinator, Connecticut summer home, adopt a highway, play house play tag, amazing race, weddings and porn, keep enemies closer, FDR and Eleanor, Chanhassen wedding, singing at crime scene, Pilate, Musketeer, angry grandpa, not enough disrespect, German porn, Tiny Freud, and a song for everything. Wee bit did a guest set. He did ones about the art of failure, gun I stare at, generic cereal, jaywalking college students, and basting a turkey. Number 25 was feature, I know she is not in town much now. She did ones about grab back fat, wanting to laugh, crossing arms, bit inside of cheek, it's your funeral, long distance relationship (probably a shout-out), she's so catholic, U of M theater major, witness protection program, and expired whipping cream. Others were about a civilized drink, meat and potatoes, vegan gluten free café, old crabby lady, Coachella, bare midriff, dancer, softball leagues, cheese is good, aged gouda, laughing cow, new kids on the block novels, basketball hi-top and pizza, triple espresso, and he whipped it out.
The headliner had a tye-dye cat shirt. Jokes were about Olive Garden bathroom, up for some round ball, GI Joe, cookie at Subway, 3rd grade taunt, middle kid, 1 of 7 kids, wholesale mortgage lender, it all happened this morning, it's quiet at the office, temp agency, and married with 2 kids. Others were about Frozen movie, parents, pedophiles, mild inconvenience, mostly 1st kid pictures, date night, Redbox movie night, notes on a scandal, trail mix, 2 percent milk, oatmeal rock, and tent vendor. Next was question and surrender, new year resolution, parade of midgets, she wants a little farm, keep those inside, what breed of cat, and promoting his shirt.

Emotionally Available

I saw a match from internet dating ask me some odd questions like if I was emotionally available. I said I am to those I trust. I was given a phone number to send a text message to, but I get bored getting phone numbers like spam. I also made it to the comedy club, after deciding to get dinner at McDonald's where they had Charlie brown toys promoting the movie. Hard to say how many I will get, but probably not all of them. Today is the movie premiere, but I will wait until the second weekend to see it. I hate having to fight crowds on opening weekend.
Also at the comedy club, long straw did ones about Burger King, cottage cheese, Carly Rae Jepsen, Winston Churchill, Weekend at Bernie's, and Barnes and Noble. Mr. Pibb did ones about cute dog, they're not bears. Others were about took belt off, restaurant dress code, YouTube, Applebee's, become your boss, dancing with the stars, and foiled terrorist attack. A newer lady comic did ones about triple teamed, and pontoon parade. The button did ones about invisible, fit through doors, Kardashian, yearbook signings, look edible, and make salad. Bus fare did ones about imagination dying, ironic process theory, windows 97, Bobby McFerrin, eggs in basket, and Garfield the cat. School bouncer did ones about college in Wisconsin, back to the future day, coming to America, Nike and Mike Fox, telling ladies to smile, his mom (where I got a shout out), send pic earlier, grill cheese, and what love is. Ukulele did ones about on to drinking, color of death, emotional abuse, never get close, sex-ed, and don't watch movies. Another was worked at Valleyfair. There was a man in a yellow Charlie Brown shirt. Ice cream did ones about estate sale, trail mix, and highway system. Twin Peaks did ones about snickers bars, Brooklyn bridge, 48,000 pennies, dyslexia, horseshoe tats, and diarrhea. Fish noodle did ones about high school prom lock-in, favorite swear word, can't afford this, and Freddie Mercury.

Empty Bookcase

I have 3 bookcases, but one of them is empty now as it appears it isn't sturdy enough to hold books. So I might want to look for another one this weekend. For too long the books from it have been on a coffee table. I watched 2 'Big bang theory' episodes tonight. Syndicated rerun was when the friends spoke about becoming owners in Stuart's comic book store. Prime time was about the son of Leonard Nimoy interviewing Sheldon. The episode ends with Sheldon seeing Amy with another man, she has moved on since they broke up apparently. Wil Wheaton was a part of this episode as well, saying this was a Star Trek fan that they had to meet. I like how the two storylines intertwined. I am expecting the two to be an item again at some point. The question is just how, and when. It is all about the ratings, and this relationship has become a big part of the storyline.

Taxi Theme Song

I had a dental appointment in the early evening and at the end I eventually recognized the song playing at the receptionist area. It was the theme song for the TV show 'Taxi'. I had a different dental assistant this time, was told my regular one had quit. I was expecting to be asked about the Janet Jackson concert.
During the walk at the office this afternoon I liked finding coins to claim on a table. It was a Canadian dollar and an American quarter. The quarter was used right away as part of paying for the parking ramp fee, since I drive to work when there is an appointment. The dollar coin will aid with the fund for my next visit to Canada, over six dollars now. Hopefully I can do this visit next summer.
I did perform at the comedy club tonight. I had a few more jokes compared to the previous night like ones about the dental appointment as well as the search for Little Debbie snack cakes with the Charlie Brown characters on the box.

After performing at the comedy club, I moved my appliances away from the wall in my home and found a dime behind one of them. So it was placed in my change bank. I liked doing a joke made famous by Mason City, about I voted stickers, as I had his permission. I was wearing one as I did vote just before going to the club, not much on the ballot this year, just city council and school board. I decided to take some big postcards with me that were mailed to me to help with knowing who to vote for.

Trail Mix In Bowl

At the office there was some leftover Halloween goodies. This included trail mix in a bowl, 3 bowls in all, left in the main break room. I didn't want the little pretzels or the candy corn, but the little M and M's, raisins, and peanuts were fine. I also made it to the comedy club and added Wee bit to the ring of honor.
At the comedy club, Belarus did jokes about and with the tiger costume. Janet Jackson Concert

Went to the Janet Jackson concert tonight at Target Center in Minneapolis. Opening act was a DJ, he was still onstage when I arrived after the long wait going through security, about 15 minutes. I knew at least half of the songs played tonight, she did say 'Plenty of hit songs' so she knew to play them. Only Janet CD I have is 'Control', and many of the songs from it were played, including the title song as well as 'Nasty'. I also liked hearing 'Rhythm Nation'. The purpose of a concert is to promote a new album, this one is called 'Unbreakable'. These may have been the ones I didn't recognize at all. I recall the DJ taking over at one point during the show and then Janet returned and did some slower songs. At the end there were 2 well-dressed men joining her onstage. These may have been the men in an interview in the Friday Minneapolis paper, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, producers and song writers. Mayor Betsy Hodges was there as well, reading and then issuing a proclamation stating it was Janet Jackson Day in the city.
I started listening to the World Series, game 5, on the radio on the way to the concert venue. Mets were up 1-0 early. When I got back to my car it was tied 2-2 in the 11th. I watched the end at home, and the Royals went on to win tonight 7-2 to take the series 4-1. Also today was a search for another coin album and mylars for coins. Couldn't find them at Barnes and Noble locations in Eagan and Bloomington (mall of America) so after the Bears-Vikings game was done I went back to the Roseville location and got them there. I moved the American pennies into this album after using the mylars, but just 24 of the 28 as the other four were extraneous. I had two each for 1944 and 1945, I decided it was best to have just one per year. So the four are now in my change bank. I fell asleep for a little while during the Bears-Vikings game. Vikings won 23-20 on a last second field goal after trailing 20-13 late.
