shoreview art museum

in the early afternoon i went to tour an art museum in shoreview, through the meetup group. thankful i went as there was two picasso works of art on display. i was one of seven who showed up but there was supposed to be fifteen. near the entrance was a big purple heart, but from indonesia so not the same meaning as it has in the american military. it had a slightly different color based on the way one looked at it. tour guide was adequate. i spent time looking at the captions describing the art. the same man was also benefactor for the carousel at como zoo in st. paul, i was thinking the name sounded familiar. no postcards or other souvenirs for sale there though. odd how a lady complained to the tour guide at the end, i saw no need to when it was a free tour. the main thing was seeing that my chores and errand running were moved up, this being the post office visit and getting to a target as well. i picked up two e-bay orders, and at target i got two more boxes of halloween cereal. then i brought it home and it was on to shoreview, after stopping at a speedway gas station for some pizza and a bottle of juice. also notable about the tour was some artwork that was lifelike, of a security guard. after the tour i stopped at another target, got two more boxes of halloween cereal. then i went to a nearby resale shop and got two photo albums for purchases of postcards in the past year. it was more than thirty cards in all i wanted to get into albums. saw a charlie brown doll there, from the kohl's series, so i got it as well. along with a few DVD movies, and books including a spirit of 76 coloring book. then i went to a dairy queen and got a blizzard treat, after the 15-minute break for employees was done. then it was home again to drop off things, and to aldi for groceries, and jersey mike's for a sandwich. i was recognized from previous visits. when i got home i turned on a college football game, the iowa hawkeyes were home against michigan state, on NBC. iowa won 26-16, a typical close game with the spartans. but winning ugly is still winning. during my walks i found 52 cents.

cookie monster balloon

liked seeing a cookie monster balloon when i was at hy-vee in eagan tonight for groceries. next to it was another metallic balloon, a smiling cookie. i bought just seven items on this visit. i got started a little earlier than typical on the drive there as there was a cut-in to regular programming for storm warnings. i made it back from the grocery store before the rain really cut loose. at work a dial-in meeting was canceled, didn't bother me much as sometimes i work right through them. especially if it is just about skills building. i was asked about carts when i was at lunch but said i wasn't big on lending out carts as they have a way of being borrowed an not brought back. guess somebody was moving from one cube to another. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 29 cents. saw a black and white rabbit near the start of my walk, most of them in the area are brown. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj did a photo shoot for people magazine. it was followed by the one where sheldon and leonard spent the night together. since leonard and penny had a fight after they were married in las vegas, and amy said sheldon was immature and said they were broken up.

bug like an angel, mitski

when i was driving home from work i liked what i was hearing on 89.3, the current, so i kept it there. it was 'bug like an angel' by mitski. first time i had heard of this artist. something about the song stuck with me. was it the honesty? asking questions that may or may not have answers? the choir? likely all three. it reminds me of what was said in some musician bio-pics, about what works in music. especially the ones about johnny cash, as well as hank williams. 'a song that saves people' or 'everybody has a little darkness in them, and they hear it'. so i had to find the song on youtube and listen to it there when i got home. another one i heard on that radio station was june carter's 'jukebox blues'. surprised a little to hear it there. found it on youtube as well, not just june singing it but also from 'walk the line' when reese witherspoon, playing june, sings it. i like being done with work in time to hear the 5pm surprise on 97.1. today it was live's 'lightning crashes', presidents 'lump', and hole's celebrity skin'. i do recall all of those being hits, and i think i have two of the three on CD, but not he presidents song. at work the i-pay check volume went back down to the normal low volume, fine with me. the overnight volume was only slightly lower, as there was a file we get but not every day. i drank the can of hamm's with the evening meal so now there are four beers waiting. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 26 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when penny got addicted to a computer game. it was followed by what likely was a season finale, as leonard and penny decide to elope. while amy said 'goodbye sheldon' saying she needed time to think about their relationship.

it's an emergency exit

there was a visitor to the shop that wanted access to the records across the fence. she wanted to get there from the back door but it's an emergency exit. i said it was likely that you need to use a door from the mailroom as it also had a code to be entered like the shop does. later on she arrived with a colleague and was able to get in, then asked if there was an extension cord. i didn't know where one could find a cord. i did make a call in the morning about changing the method of payment on my car insurance but it meant being given a link to start an online account. i still have more questions such as if it means i no longer get a statement through the mail. i am interested in saving on the invoice fee. in the afternoon a colleague wanted to second-guess me about the check printer being picked up last week, i ended up getting animated as it was a moot point and i really don't enjoy arguing a moot point. the number of overnights must have peaked, thankfully, as it went down to 48 so i would like to think the re-issue of RV dealer checks will be done soon. there was three i-pay files so i decided to get a headstart on doing the labels. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when leonard and lesley argued about theories because of sheldon, then we see the friends at ren-fest as sheldon is in a spock costume. it was followed by the one where stuart is told to put on pants by bernadette, then he sings a song from 'annie' with howard and raj. the moms of sheldon and leonard met and they argue their beliefs.

rv dealers

at work i did a record number of overnight labels for the day, 75. the i-pay file had a spike in volume, and it looks like most of the checks are for RV dealers. a colleague sent a list of those that weren't marked as to be overnighted and said the spike in volume was due to re-issuing checks. i lumped together as many as i could. hopeful that the volume goes back down to a small amount real soon when creating overnight labels isn't my most favorite task. there was a team huddle in the morning and the boss still spoke about the check printer being picked up last week. then around midday he spoke of having an appointment and then working from home for the rest of the day. i am a list maker and after getting mail that reminded me of possibly lowering an invoice fee on my car insurance payment it means writing it down and inquiring about it. one of two calls i can make the next morning when i find the time.

black flag shirt

i went to perform tonight and the poet was wearing a black flag shirt. i said it made me think of the song 'boys of summer'. as it replaced 'dead-head sticker' when this don henley song was covered by the ataris. i bought another disc at this mic, this one was from the musician that did a little richard song tonight and said he has a gig in northfield soon. the stories that got the most reaction in my set was hot dish and the song 'jump around'. at work when i was picking up a box in the branch area i asked the branch manager if she had heard from my boss. she said she hadn't but had very little information about who picked up under-used copiers and printers last week. something about forwarding on what she had to our senior leader. and i finally sent out an IRS package to atlanta, after finding out where to send it. also sent some returned checks to toronto, eight in all. there was even more in the box but what i sent was from this year and last year, the others were even older. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when penny said 'the cat is alive' about dating leonard. after asking sheldon about it. it was followed by the one where the friends work on a message to send to aliens where sheldon is what the aliens see.

czech and slovak festival

went to the czech and slovak festival in st. paul in the mid-afternoon, after attending the saints baseball game. first time in their building, got a good look around at the displays on the upper level. there was a plaque about a proclamation issued by franklin roosevelt, as well as about a visit by dvorak to the building and to the nearby church. i paid for a dinner that will be there next month. even liked seeing a book on display from the 1933 chicago world's fair. in the morning i did laundry. i told myself that if i got started on it early enough, i would be able to get to the saints game. so it meant i used my rain check from the night before. saints lost to toledo 3-2, on the final day of the season. i bought a kevin millar shirt from the souvenir shop, late in the game when noticing the employee was already packing up. got a good look around at the stadium before leaving, while they still had the running the bases for the kids. i picked up an interactive comic book, and a nacho bowl that will serve as a spare cereal bowl. i had been wanting one for a while, so it was nice to find one when walking through the main seating area. i didn't do much after getting home, had some pizza for the evening meal. and went to the nearby liquor store and got a can of busch light so now there are five beers waiting. then i laid down for a while. during my walks i found 88 cents.

angel has fallen movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'angel has fallen'. i recognized morgan freeman and nick nolte in it. nick was playing the main character's dad, a secret service agent. and morgan was the president. this was a thriller, and in some ways reminded me of 'the fugitive', being framed for a major crime. then trying to prove being framed. although one line in it was not true, about temporary transferal of power back to a sitting president. a decent story though. nick nolte may have had a small role, but he was good in it. and it was a reminder of how it is good to watch it until the end as there was some more action in the closing credits. then it was time to get to the post office, picked up one order there. and then i dumped the movie at the gas station. next was the armenian festival at a church. i got a good look around at the food and drink choices, before i bought cards. i got a pork wrap, rice pilaf, wine, tea, coffee, and ice cream baklava. then to aldi for groceries. went to the saints stadium in the evening but the game was rained out. so i went home and watched some of the iowa football game at penn state on CBS, iowa lost 31-0. during my walks i found 1 dollar 2 cents.

united states mint survey

in the evening i was looking at my facebook news feed and saw a survey from the united states mint. it was related to the coins to be issued in 2026, the 250 for america. while taking the survey i wrote down two names of historical figures i hadn't heard of before. once again, not everything is in the history books, even when one is a history major. i said i would be fine with seeing them bring back the 'drummer boy' quarters from the bicentennial in 1976 as i have some of those. my question was when we might see what will possibly be on the coins, such as artist renderings. i signed up for their email list. i went to hy-vee in  eagan and bought ten items. at work it was a typical low-volume day for the end of the week. i was asked if there were any desktop computers in the check shop by the customer service boss, was not aware there was any left in the building. most people have laptops now, easier to work from home this way. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 95 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when howard had an allergic reaction to peanuts, and sheldon helps people out at the electronics store. this was all for leonard's birthday party. it was followed by the one where sheldon and amy make a blanket fort, while howard meets his half-brother. leonard finds out on the wil wheaton podcast that penny makes more than he does.

hot dish at potluck

at work there was a department having a potluck and i was invited to partake in it. the main thing i decided to get, and liked, was the hot dish. there was tater tots in it. this is one thing i am familiar with due to living in minnesota, as they take it seriously here. found out it was basically casserole. somebody brought rolls from hy-vee, saw the bag it was in, and i had one of those as well. there was an issue with getting the scan of a test check in a ruler on another copier and i found out it meant putting it 'all the way into the corner' for it to capture the entire check. then it meant overnighting test checks to toronto at the end of the day as they are canadian. it was more remote calls and emails with my boss than typical. i drank the bottle of heineken with the evening meal so now there are four beers waiting. and i read an article by the 'extra murder' comic about drive-in movie theaters in the state. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 81 cents.

morning webinar

in the morning i noticed i was scheduled for two meetings that had time conflicts, but it was still the same meeting. it was a webinar where some other offices were joining as well. during that hour there was very little that i understood, related to my role anyway. notable was seeing the senior leader in the same room as me, taking notes. and then there were donuts after it was done. my boss was informed in the afternoon of a check printer being picked up two days prior, and asked for a contact. so i emailed the branch manager about it and copied my boss on it. in the evening there was more reruns of 'the conners'. it included ones about darlene becoming a lunch lady to help pay for mark's college tuition, and the season finale where we see graduation pictures of some of the cast members. later on i went on a walk and found 25 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when leonard bought a time machine. it was followed by the one where the friends have one last meal that howard's mom prepared.

tax checks lumped together

the tax specialist responded and said he didn't have a working computer for four days. there was four checks waiting. one of them camadian. i said they would be lumped together because i don't seal the envelope until i get an address to send it to. this was just before midday. a colleague showed up to find a computer in the 'back room' that hadn't been used in a while. it was in a bin on the shelf as it was moved there in august when i was training a vacation replacement. it will be sent to urbancrest like plenty of other inactive equipment so i would expect a box for it soon. in the evening i watched some of 'jeopardy masters' and wondered if it was a rerun as there was a mike fox category in the second episode. and the contestants looked familiar as well. later on i went on a walk and found 6 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends did the quiz bowl where sheldon had his own team. it was followed by the one where sheldon and amy get a turtle and then sheldon said he applied to live on mars.

one less check printer

i wasn't thrilled with the visitor to the shop just after midday. it was an efficiency expert doing a building-wide sweep of little-used copiers and printers. this meant we are now down to one check printer, i liked having two as it was a nice luxury and safety net. the copier was swapped out for another brand, and the table once used for a check printer is now being used for the copier. when the man first arrived i sent him to the branch manager as i looked at the forms and none of those machines listed were in the shop. most were on other floors. when the man returned the branch manager was the tour guide. guess the man will be stopping at other buildings nearby in the upcoming days. sounds like it was all done on short notice. at the end of the workday i went to the liquor store near work and got a can of fulton oktoberfest so now there are five beers waiting. in the evening i went to perform. even though i showed up a little earlier, i was only able to get a slot at the end of the night. the opening line or couch gag didn't go as well as typical, it became a rabbit hole but i found my way out of it. there was more bank stories to tell, such as being called crabby. and i spoke of the dude at the booya. during my walks i found 72 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon got a young rival, a defector from north korea. it was followed by the one where the friends tried an experiment to see if they end up falling in love. i checked my phone while waiting to perform and found out adam wainwright, a pitcher, got a milestone win tonight. it was number 200 as the st. louis cardinals beat the milwaukee brewers 1-0.

nightshade movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'nightshade'. one reason i chose it was knowing that lou ferrigno jr. is in it. i had heard of the older lou, who was the incredible hulk. this was a weird movie, a thriller about a homicide detective seeing a shrink about nightmares. and then we find out the secrets of the cop's wife. once the movie was done i got moving, going back to the gas station to dump the movie. then it was on to a booya serving. there was a line even for the single servings, and i chatted with the man next to me in line. he likes his microwave oven even more than me, saying he has a spare. besides the soup i got a root beer, popcorn, and reese's peanut butter to round out my lunch there. i watched a little pro football on TV after i got back home, but not a lot. i laid down for a while. but i still got some other things done. this included going through the set lists and candy bar wrappers from performing since april, getting them onto souvenir pages, freeing up 14 paper clips. later on i went through souvenirs from travels this summer and decided to get two shirts into my rotation, acquired when i was in st. louis and new ulm. they are wearables, and meant to be used after all. in the evening i watched 'yellowstone' on CBS, first time doing so. a decent show, liked seeing the wide-open spaces that were filmed along with the cattle and the buffalo. during my walks i found 28 cents.

college football, twins stadium

in the afternoon i went to see a college football game at the twins stadium, the first non-baseball event i had attended there. it was south dakota state playing drake. i had hoped for a close game but it was not to be. south dakota state won, 70-7, and it was 35-7 at the half. the most important stat for me was third down conversions. 'the jacks' from south dakota did way better on third and fourth down, and had more than twice as many first downs as well. they just plain moved the ball way better. the winning team is the defending champion in the 'class f/k/a division 1-aa' and are ranked number one in that class, so they were 'as good as advertised'. i had a sandwich at jersey mike's for lunch so i had less of a need to spend a lot there in food and drink. i got a bottle of gatorade and a bag of cheesy popcorn. the seller wanted to remind me it was cheetos popcorn, found out all this meant was there was a few stray cheetos in the bag. i have had cheesy popcorn before so i knew what i was getting. it meant the visit for groceries at aldi was moved up to before i went to get a sandwich. and i made it to the post office first, two orders picked up. it was odd that one of the was in a little box, i went to the window to ask if there was anything as e-bay said it was ready for pickup. but no yellow card was in my box saying it was there. i didn't do much after getting back from the game, i had some pizza for the evening meal. than i laid down for a while. during my walks i found 1 dollar 23 cents.

kevin costner special magazine

this week i bought another special magazine of interest to me, at a walgreen. when i saw just one copy on display, and it was about kevin costner, i said i need to get it. i have enjoyed reading about two of  the baseball movies- bull durham and field of dreams- and that is the main reason why i wanted it. i had seen robin hood at theaters as well, and later on i did see 'for the love of the game' and 'bodyguard'. the  magazine is titled 'legends of hollywood'. the most recent one, 'yellowstone', i haven't seen yet but it sounds like an episode will air sunday night on CBS after '60 minutes' so here is my chance. as usual, there were the stories about who else was offered the role before costner got it or how movies almost never got made. due to wikipedia i have learned of the term 'development hell'. i was not familiar with the movie 'no way out' but it would be tough to know about every role an actor has done aside from consulting IMDB. at work there was plenty of overnight labels to create, nearly fifty. the branch manager wanted to look at the copier i use to print those labels, saying it will be picked up soon and replaced with another one. this was news to me, and apparently to her as well. in the evening i went to hy-vee in eagan and saw two kinds of charlie brown-themed packets of cocoa so i bought one of each kind. later on i went on a walk and found 95 cents. i got a bottle of bell's oktoberfest at the liquor store near work after work so now there are four beers waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon got sick and the friends decide to go to a 'planet of the apes' movie marathon to wait it out. it was followed by the one where there was a multiple 'let it go'- amy helping kripke, and penny learning she was experimented on by amy. then we learn that howard's mom died. i got two more entries in to the contest from watching the reruns so i amassed 14 entries over the two-week run. did not win anything during their 'flash' sweepstakes this year and haven't seen the movie yet, but i did get a free ticket during their 'space jam' sweeps.

dual citizen brewing

in the evening i went to a meetup event, it was at dual citizen brewing in st. paul. first time at this venue, third event at a brewery through this group. went there after eating, and checking email. i talked with more people there than at other events. one attendee spoke of wanting to do something for halloween, dressing up in costumes, and we exchanged phone numbers. we first talked when i was looking at a map of breweries in america that was framed on a wall. one friend said he couldn't find me, although the crowd thinned out near the end of the night. i had a pint of a ukrainian ale. after it was done i made it to target just before closing time and got two more boxes of halloween cereal. now i have seven that will be eaten eventually. there are six more i would like to get. later on i went on a walk and found 55 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when we meet sheldon's fake cousin leopold, who was invented to avoid seeing penny perform. it was followed by the one where the ladies found ways to embarrass each other, for amy it was her writings inspired by 'little house'. at work there was a dial-in meeting about artificial intelligence mid-morning, but i barely paid attention to it as i wanted to stay ahead of my normal duties.

hard boiled eggs

i still had some cravings in the evening even after a meal so after watching four prime time reruns of 'the conners' i went to a holiday gas station and got some peanut butter cookies, and two hard boiled eggs. i had some salt and pepper in little packets to use on the eggs. the cookies were eaten before i got home. i drank the can of alaskan beer with the evening meal so now three beers are waiting. the reruns were when we meet the drifter that dates harris, darlene is fake to get a job, harris announced she is pregnant, and then harris miscarried. i am mainly still watching because i like john goodman. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when sheldon and leonard fight over a paper they co-wrote and it ends up on youtube to the tune of 'three blind mice'. it was followed by the one where sheldon is thrown out by amy because he won't take off a smelly cap. at work we finally got the original copies of mail that had been scanned and i took out the returned checks that i normally just return to the business line. there was two blue envelopes, one for new vendor and one for customer service. i had more to say at the dial-in meting in the afternoon as what was happening was finally relevant to me. liked two of the songs on the 5pm surprise when i was driving home after picking up my car from an oil change. it was 'just stop your crying' and 'sometimes goodbye is a second chance'.

pay-stubs sent out

i found the time to send all of the pay-stubs through the machine. some were run through in the morning and some in the afternoon, after all of the checks had been run through. i probably wanted them gone just as much as who had sent them to me. when a colleague was picking up checks she said i had been crabby lately. no, i said it was more likely that i am just tired. looks like the boss is off-site for the entire week. in the evening i went on a walk and found 22 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when raj was drunk and boring on a date and sheldon left with his date. it was followed by the one where sheldon and leonard hold their lady's purses while the ladies shop.

alumni letter published

usually, checking postal mail when i get home is meaningless, as many days there is no mail at all. but this time, it was different because the iowa alumni magazine was there. and i was thrilled, but still a little stunned, that my letter was published. i wrote it in march and i gave permission right away to have it used once the publisher expressed interest in using it. i am trying to think of why i wrote it in march, after reading a year's worth of back issues. unless it was read on those days when i missed work in late february due to illness. guess i did do well on sharing highlights of my time at the university, inspired by the articles i had seen about various venues having anniversaries or mention of big concerts there over the years. at work the envelope order for the month arrived in the morning. about half of the pay-stubs were run through, would have been more but the machine chokes on copy paper more than the check stock. and it was jamming a lot, to the point where i eventually set it up as stuff the envelope but do not seal it. and i was given some more to do near the end of the day. i performed at an open-mic in the evening and was on near the end of the night. i did some more bank stories and mention of my college roommate being in town. later on i went on a walk and found 26 cents. also notable about performing was hearing a song from the jukebox as i was leaving the venue, it was 'allison road' by the gin blossoms. and it was raining as i went to my car. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when we met penny's friend, the whore of omaha. and it ends with the friends playing video games while they ignore penny and her friends showing up. it was followed by the one where levar burton guest stars on 'fun with flags', where sheldon ends the show and then beings it back. the others clean out a retired colleague's office.

the old way movie

mid-morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'the old way'. i recognized nicolas cage in it. this was a western, and it claims it was the first western that cage did. it was about hunting down the men that had killed his wife, as well as teaching his young daughter how to shoot a gun. notable was when the girl was in his mercantile shop. she decides to clean the jellybeans and then puts them in canning jars, sorting them by color. westerns still usually work for me, as it tends to be clear who the good guys and bad guys are. once it was done it was lunchtime, and i had the urge to eat at mall of america. so i did, at the a and w. later on i had a scoop of ice cream at a place where i get airline miles. i walked around most of the mall, it gave me ideas about where to stop on a day off at the end of the calendar year. i found what my college roommate likely spoke of which was a 100-yen shop that reminded him of japan. except i just did a quick look through, not much of interest to me on the first look. maybe the souvenir coin machine in the back. i watched some of the pro football games of the day but not a lot. bucs beat the vikings, packers beat the bears. 'simpsons' was not on in the evening, there was a promo at the end of the football broadcast lasting a full minute about the season premiere three weeks later. during my walks i found 77 cents.

the bar audible

i knew my college roommate would be in town to attend a baseball and football game. i inquired about plans for the day and was told of watching the iowa-iowa state football game on TV somewhere in the afternoon. the main game watch location through the alumni chapter was the loop in minneapolis. except it was too crowded so i got a text and was told the office bar across the bridge was much less crowded. for a while we were watching the game on his phone as other games were on TV, such as the michigan state and northwestern games. but near the end we did find it on TVs near the entrance. iowa got a pick-6 and was ahead at the half and went on to win 20-13. i had two glasses of surly beer and some cheese curds. i did ask about karaoke and my friend, as expected, has done it, having been to japan three times. got some good stories about it, even mention of a mic-drop. i got some errand running done before i got on the light rail to see this friend, such as printing event tickets at the copy store and getting groceries at aldi. when the game was done i went back home on the light rail. there was more college football to watch once i got home but i didn't watch it for long. i went to redbox and picked up a movie that i can watch the next day. during my walks i found 79 cents.

willys overland convertible

near my workplace is a car repair shop. sometimes i see some cool cars outside of it. this afternoon at the end of my lunch i saw a willys overland black convertible with a wisconsin plate. i know this company as being the maker of jeeps. it was a fairly slow day for a while and i didn't mind. but then i saw a colleague four times in the final hour i was there because she kept bringing me things. the fourth time i said i was not cutting zip ties off of the mail tubs just so you can check what you dropped off. i needed to get the tubs put out anyway so they can be picked up. a reminder of what another colleague said where one sometimes needs to draw a line in the sand. in the evening i went to get groceries at the hy-vee in eagan and got another box of monster cereal, this time it was monster mash. there was some others on display including lucky charms and pebbles so i have more ideas for next week. after work i got a can of hamm's at the liquor store near work so now there are four beers waiting. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 70 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when lesley and leonard hooked up but then lesley said she was good until new years. it was another scene using science equipment on food, this time a frozen banana. it was followed by the one where leonard has surgery and sheldon said 'take me to leonard'. then sheldon hurts himself and his nose is bandaged much like leonard's.

service entry door

in the morning i tried entering the workplace using the service entry door but it wasn't working so i had to use another entrance. when i went to get tax checks in the lockbox i found out the same door wouldn't open from the inside either. so i called the facility manager to have it worked on. and the branch said it was fixed by midday. it is something i take for granted, and i don't know how many others use it. when i put out the tax checks i went through the branch since it is on the same floor. there was another request to send test checks to oregon, this time ten, usually it is five. no mention of who the contact would be so i decided my boss would be, knowing full well the preference was to get it out same-day. there was plenty of overnight labels to do, fifty in all. that is more than a typical day. in the evening 'young sheldon' was when mandy finds out about the gambling room and the dad is a football coach again. later on i went on a walk and found 59 cents. i drank the can of icehouse with the evening meal so now there are three beers waiting. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the mom helped sheldon get his job back. it was followed by the one where the friends try doing a prom but it has all of the drama of a real one.

performing institute of minnesota

i was taking some mail over to the nearby strip mall and noticed a postcard for a performing arts high school at the reception desk. it was for performing institute of minnesota. they call themselves 'the arts imperative' and it is in eden prairie. i said there wasn't a school like this in iowa, my native state. i have heard of a conservatory in downtown st. paul, and another one that is in golden valley. guess it means finding out if they have any plays that interest me. it is a four year tuition free public charter school. there was a delivery of check stock except it was short so i contacted the supplier and found out the rest of the shipment should arrive in 2-3 weeks. there was also some drop-ins to the shop, to scan documents on the copier. and about an email that had just been sent to me. i said i noticed it was ACH and don't know why it was sent unless a copy was being requested. in the evening i switched over to ABC and there was four episodes of 'the conners' from the past season, including the halloween and thanksgiving episodes. during my walks i found 10 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when leonard and penny went on a date and leonard hit his head in the table. it was followed by the one where billy bob thornton was a guest star and tried to woo penny.

boxes of records for benefits

just after midday a branch employee rang the doorbell. i wasn't expecting any deliveries, but was told the courier was being gruff. i said i would see what he wants. there were 16 boxes of records being delivered, probably from iron mountain. i looked at the name on the form and recognized who it was for, somebody in benefits. so i got out carts once i had them sent to the shop and put them on the bank's carts. i sent an I.M. to the benefits employee about it who was in a meeting. shortly thereafter, these were sent to that floor. three carts were enough to finish the job. first time i saw that part of the building, same floor as the safe deposit boxes. during my walks i found 10 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when the friends received a delivery for penny, then cleaned her place when she was asleep. it was followed by the one where raj and sheldon simulate being underground in a mine, while leonard and penny discuss what to do with the proceeds from selling a car.

call of the wild movie

just before midday i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'call of the wild'. i recognized harrison ford in it. i had bought a paperback copy of the book at target many years ago. i enjoyed this movie more than i thought i would. it is an argument for a dog being man's best friend, although at first i was lost when watching it. since we see a big dog running wild in a frontier town. but i guess we had to see what led to buck the dog ending up in alaska and the yukon during the gold rush. the main thing i recall from the book is the dog being saved from disaster, and this scene in the movie is way different but i didn't mind. the two movies this weekend were my first redbox rentals since june. i confirmed this when i posted about what i had seen on twitter. this labor day was in many ways a catchup day on chores and errand running. i did the dishes and took out the trash, along with taking the recycle to the capitol. and i watched 'jeopardy', it was a tournament of champions edition. final jeopardy clue was about the play 'our american cousin'. there was a programming change on fox-9 plus, it no longer shows 'big bang theory' reruns. a celebrity gossip show was in its place, so i guessed correctly that it had been moved to another rerun channel, same time, on 45-tv. the reruns were episode one when leonard tries to do a favor for penny. it was followed by the one where the ladies go to las vegas, where amy and bernadette get drunk while penny studies. the dudes try to do science work but get sidetracked and watch movies. and i entered another 'word of the day' contest. during my walks i found 62 cents.

assassin movie

in the morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'assassin'. i recognized bruce willis in it. this was a weird movie, how a lady gets into a wetsuit and then climbs into a bathtub full of ice and says 'this is not my body'. and a metal worm is injected into the people that are her hosts, all in the name of being an assassin. most compelling is when she enters the body of an artist as this is where the complications begin. this was my first redbox rental in a while, likely due to not just seeing more movies in theaters lately. but also due to some purchases either from amazon or from a liquidation sale. when i returned to the gas station to dump the movie i got another one as i have more tine to fill on this holiday weekend. later on i went to the st paul saints baseball game. for those who like the long ball, there was plenty of them, at least in regulation. the saints got a solo shot in the 9th in order to send it to extra innings but fell apart in the 10th and lost to columbus, 14-6. there was a fireworks show after the game, and i had some seasoned fries and a can of sprite from one of the food trucks. notable was three songs i heard during the fireworks show. it was selections by zac brown band. donna summer, and taylor swift. then when i was driving home i heard the luke combs cover of tracy chapman. during my walks i found 11 cents.

the hill movie, dennis quaid

in the afternoon i went to see a movie in eagan, 'the hill' starring dennis quaid. it was a baseball bio-pic. no surprise i went to it when i like baseball a lot and bio-pics. this one does stand out from the others as i lightly clapped more than once during it and wiped away tears more than once as well. starting off the movie with the song 'china grove' by the doobie brothers while the main character is driving a mustang was brilliant. this was a song that was in another baseball movie, 'field of dreams'. other songs of note were church music, 'old rugged cross' and how great thou art'. both were played at the funerals of my grandparents. since the main character's dad is a preacher, no surprise how some of it would be church music. liked it even though i knew how it would end, where rickey hill only plays in the minors. the bit part played by hall of famer john smoltz was poorly written and seemed un-necessary to me. smoltz essentially played himself, a baseball announcer, i would like to think this movie will get some award nominations, especially for quaid's role as the preacher dad. even though sports movies usually don't win awards. in addition, awards are over-rated when not everybody gets to vote on them and the award winners usually aren't the biggest ticket sellers. after the movie i had a pumpkin pie blizzard at the nearby dairy queen.

it started off as a busy day for me, going to the post office, one order was picked up. then i went to the office and did two hours of overtime. i probably could have run those checks through on tuesday, after the holiday. especially when they won't go out until tuesday. but i know that overtime isn't offered that much and i liked having it done and out of the way. i made the time count, running over three thousand checks through the machine, enough to fill two mail tubs. by then it was close to midday so i drove to jersey mike's and got a sandwich. now i have enough points to get a free sandwich on my next visit. then after a short time at home i went to see the movie. after i got back i went to aldi for groceries, and the liquor store as well. i got a bottle of heineken, and this week drank the can of udofot, so there still are four beers waiting. i watched some of the Fox baseball game of the week, twins-rangers from texas, but laid down in the middle of it and fell asleep. sounds like the twins won. during my walks i found 1 dollar 40 cents.

pumpkin spice season

i can tell we are in pumpkin spice season by what i saw when going to hy-vee in eagan tonight. there was a sign near the door about the varieties of pumpkin flavored coffee at the starbucks. i didn't get any of those but i did get one of the monster cereals, a new one called carmella creeper. there were others next to it but i believe in getting just one a week and there were more boxes available of the other kinds. at work all of the checks from the fargo file are printed out now and i sent out four tubs at the end of the day. i have over three thousand checks i can run through the machine the next day, and this would complete the backlog. i sent off the monthly supply order and still waiting to hear who is actually placing the order. the customer service supervisor was copied on it. i said i still don't care who places the order for me as i need all of those supplies to get my work done. i got started on the online classes that are due at the end of september, doing two of the six. found out there is a seventh that has been assigned but its due date is the end of november. late in the evening i went on a walk and found 87 cents. the 'big bang theory' reruns were when dermatologist emily met penny and they don't like each other. the dudes consider becoming part owners in stuart's comic book store but howard's mom puts up the money to re-open it instead. it was followed by part two of the final episode. i am still moved by this one more than most.
