i went to an event at the loft literary center in minneapolis this evening. i left with a pamphlet that had poems about the empire builder- the man (james j hill) and the train that was named for him, as well as other trains. after some chatting as well as food and drink, i was one of those who read at the open-mic in the auditorium. i did one about the nightly walks i do. i was second on the lineup. there were some who found me after it was done and said they liked it. i got that feeling as i heard a few laughs while i was reading it, although i wasn't trying to be funny at all. this was probably the first event i did there since covid hit. i had a day off from work due to having an appointment for a physical, around midday. i went to target mid-morning to pick up two items, one was the 'top gun' soundtrack on CD and the other was rice krispies halloween cereal. i saw four different kinds of taylor swift CDs when i was in the music section. i have one of taylor's discs, the one called '1989'. after the appointment, where i also got a flu shot, i had lunch at home. and i wrote out the poem i did later in the day, walking most of the route to see i captured all of what i wanted to write about. after the event i had a hot dog and a smoothie from the nearby bobby and steve's. avril lavigne's 'skater boy' was playing while there. then i got back on the light rail. 'monarch' had just started when i got home. later on i went on a walk and found 81 cents.
