i made it to new ulm for my annual visit for oktoberfest. i found out when i got to town about the kiesling house being open for tours. first time i had seen the inside of it. there was a flyer clipped to the popcorn wagon. there was a short video on the upper level and various displays to read. admission was 3 dollars. the day still started with errand running, printed some events i had signed up for at the copy store. this was after picking up the rental car, a black mustang. there was one e-bay order to pick up from the post office, a charlie brown book. i made it to the mcdonald's in little canada for lunch, but they were out of the adult happy meals. i got a bacon double burger. then it was on to the mall in roseville, where i got my annual photo booth strip. and i held up a sign saying i had 3 covid boosters. i didn't enjoy the drive that much due to the road closures. but it was nice when i reached town. the cover band downtown was pretty good, notables was songs by the cranberries, and weezer. as usual i saw the performance at the glockenspiel. after this i did the quick trip over to sleepy eye to see the linus statue. and i found a 6-pack of buddy's soda at a nearby convenience store. when i made it back to new ulm i had some ice cream at the shop in the downtown area, i had the flavor called 'fat elvis'. i saw my brick in german park, and had a beer at turner hall, a bottle of schell's. then it was time to get to the hotel. no surprise how the most money i spent all day was there, to get food and a beer, a grain belt. i arrived at a time when there was a break between music performances, but eventually a band was playing and i went into the ballroom where it was happening. after an hour i got on the road. i knew i might get tired on the way back, but told myself to get as far as i could before needing to take a break. i stopped at the holiday gas station in jordan, and listened to some of the baseball playoff game on the radio while in the parking lot. it was phils-cardinals, cardinals lost so they are eliminated. i was more than halfway home by then and didn't need another break after this. i gathered up my souvenirs, no postcards bought this time, and went inside. all of it fit inside the mcdonald's bag. during my walks i found 42 cents.
