this afternoon i went to see the movie 'lyle crocodile' at the st. paul highland park theater. i had read those books as a kid. and i have four of them in the series- besides this one i also have 'at the office', 'lovable', and 'birthday party'. i went to e-bay to look for what movie merchandise is available and found out there is even more books in the series. not too surprising how some things were added and changed to the story compared to the book. this has been done with other kid's books in order to get it up to movie length. the movie impressed me enough when it was clever, as i kept track of how often it got a 'single but loud' laugh out of me. it was twice. first was when we see the primm family dressed up as florida gator fans, along with the crocodile. the other was playing the song 'crocodile rock' by elton john. the core story, what is familiar, is still there, along with the characters. the primm family, the grumpy neighbor and his cat, and the 'star of stage and screen'. thankful i went to see it. this was the third weekend it was at theaters. i don't go on premiere weekend, and there was another movie i wanted to see last week. i moved up doing laundry so i could get to the first screening of the day. and the TV was off for most of the day, easier to get things done online. i was reading through garrison keillor's 'writers almanac' and found out there is a german- american day this month, honoring those who settled in germantown, pa, in 1683. the town has since been annexed by philadelphia. i picked up a can of beer from the nearby liquor store, a micro-brew called 'inbound', so now 4 beers are waiting. during my walks i found 4 dollars 7 cents.
