father stu movie

this morning i put in a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'father stu'. i recognized mark wahlberg and mel gibson in it. a scene showing mel, as his dad, eating from a pan while watching what may have been jack benny and hearing his gruff but honest answering machine message was comical to me. the music in it was good, recognized many of the country songs in it. this included ones from dolly parton, loretta lynn, as well as conway twitty. along with a johnny cash duet with june at a karaoke bar. no surprise when the subject of the movie is from montana. it is about a boxer who moves to california to be an actor and then sees the light and becomes a priest. the closing credits did say 'some scenes and characters were invented for dramatic effect' and i am used to this for any movie 'based on a true story'. i liked how stu had some answers when others said he wasn't right for the priesthood, quoting the bible, saying there are reformed men. other scenes that work for me included when he goes with another priest to a prison and can talk better to the inmates since he knows what it is like to be arrested. i watched the special features, plenty of deleted scenes as well as 'you don't know stu'. once this was done it was time for errand running. i picked up one item at the post office, then went to print 5 items at the copy store. i picked up an apple pie from a little target for an upcoming 4th of july picnic, and sent a scan to claim a gift card since the offer was expiring soon. after laying down for a little while, it was time to get groceries at aldi. then it was on to the st. paul saints baseball game. saints lost to omaha 6-4, and were trailing 4-0 at the end of the 1st inning. home runs helped narrow the margin, but one was just a solo shot. i got fries from a food truck after the game, same one as memorial day, dine 1-1. and there was  a fireworks show. i liked hearing 'say it ain't so' by weezer at the saints game. there was music while i was out and about making the day more memorable, including 'unstoppable' by sia and 'i think we're alone now' by billie joe armstrong. after the game i went on a walk and found 1 dollar 35 cents.
