marlowe movie

this morning i watched a DVD movie, a redbox rental, 'marlowe'. i recognized liam neeson and jessica lange in it. this was a crime thriller, and marlowe was a private eye. the setting was hollywood in the 1930s. it was filmed in ireland and spain, and was based on a book called 'black eyed blonde'. near the end of the movie we see a poster of a movie of this name, a clever way of getting the book title into the movie despite the movie having a different name. what made it a crime thriller was the hookers and drug smuggling. after it was done it was time to get to the post office. nothing to pick up there, just an advertisement for a car dealer and it wasn't addressed to me so i threw it in the recycle bin. then i dumped the movie at the gas station and went to roosevelt high school in minneapolis. there was a centennial celebration for the school, found out through an online search for events. i had been in a mentoring program at the school through my employer, but it ended seven years ago. i did a self guided tour of the school, and got a look at the car show in the parking lot. there was an edsel station wagon, first time seeing one of those, had only seen sedans before. and it was cool getting pictures from a photo booth. not much there in terms of food, so i had a whopper junior at the burger king down the road on hiawatha. i noticed a couple communicating in sign language while there. i tried getting ice cream at the dairy queen but it was drive through only so i went to mcdonald's. i had a grimace shake, there is a meal celebrating grimace's birthday. on the way to downtown st. paul i saw someone dressed as the hamm's beer bear near a liquor store. i had samplings of beer and wine while there. on to alary's bar, which is closing soon. i had a sam adams seasonal, as only tap beer was remaining. this is a bar where i had watched chicago bears football games, including the super bowl. when i got home i had some pizza, then went to aldi for my weekly grocery order. i was expecting the red sox-yankees game to be on Fox game of the week, but rays-padres was on. it was a scoreless tie when i joined, and the padres went on to win 2-0, aided by an inning with three straight bunts. during my walks i found 13 cents.
