royal canadian circus

in the afternoon i went to see the royal canadian circus, in maplewood next to the mall. i had heard about it at the end of the fox-9 news broadcast friday evening. i got my ticket printed shortly after the copy store opened at midday and then went to the mall. i had a philly cheesesteak inside the food court just before the event. it was a one-ring circus, so no animals, but i didn't mind as it meant i was sitting closer to the action. it was a general admission ticket but i still had a good view of everything. i liked the acrobatics more than the comic relief. there was a well-dressed performer doing gags like having a basketball hoop on his head and it just didn't land with me. at the end of the first act there was a man shot out of a cannon, reminding me of the video to the red hot chili peppers song 'soul to squeeze'. the show started with flag bearers, american and canadian flags. i noticed there was some performers attached to a harness, or had a giant air mattress to break their fall if need be, safety is still a priority. i feel that i got my money's worth, especially since i found a discounted ticket at groupon. before i went to the show i watched three episodes of the 'charlie brown and snoopy show' on DVD, a recent amazon order. after the show i bought a picture book of chicago tourist attractions and a DVD at a goodwill resale shop. then i went home and caught the ending of a spring football game, st. louis beat san antonio. in the evening i watched the billy joel concert special on CBS. i didn't recognize all of the songs played but i still liked hearing hits i recognized such as 'still rock and roll to me'. no surprise how 'piano man' closed the show, his signature song. early in the set was 'my life', another song i really like. and i ordered a gift for my grand-niece's birthday on amazon. later on i went on a walk and found 75 cents.
