dubuque star brewery

 i began the day in Dubuque, Iowa, at my hotel, the super 8. as usual, there wasn't much on the docket on the final day in town. i had some continental breakfast, i showered, then it was check out of the hotel and get on the road. i made it back over to the part of town called 'port of Dubuque' to find the 'star brewery building' after breakfast and before checking out. i would have done it the previous day but it was dark after touring the museum and it was raining as well. the building is on the national register of historic places, and two movies were filmed there, 'fist' as well as 'take this job and shove it'. i got a picture of it, and it was one of the postcards i bought at the museum's souvenir shop. on the drive home i made the first stop in Decorah, at the same gas station as the previous day, also for lunch. then i made another one in Rochester, as i was getting tired. i made it home mid-afternoon, and it didn't take long to unpack as usual since i travel light. a gym bag was all i needed. i went to get groceries at Aldi and checked email. didn't check it when i was out of state as i knew email could wait. and as expected, not much was important. in the evening i found three boxes of Charlie Brown Chex cereal at Walmart in Eagan. i have two more days off so i can still get some more things done in terms of chores and errand running.
