in the morning at work, the shipment of copy paper arrived. it was ten boxes, and it means i won't have to go to another floor for that item for a while. it was the first time since moving to this office nearly a year ago when i had to order it. i hadn't been there for long, as it was in the first hour of the day. i was delayed due to a breakdown on the light rail. it meant waiting at one of the stops for the next train. i sent a text to vacation replacement when we had to get out, and then when i was on another train, about ten minutes after that. i don't mind that much if it happens after work, and i am thankful it hasn't happened much yet. it was just the second time in the past year, in the morning anyway. the day was also notable due to the first time sending a check with FedEx. the Cincinnati business line sent me the label, i then said i didn't have any of those kinds of envelopes and didn't know where the closest drop box was. this is due to using only UPS for overnighting checks. mailroom found me an envelope, and then a colleague showed up with five more when i was getting back from the breakroom. i had just heated up my soup in the microwave oven. i dropped it off at a FedEx office a few blocks away near the end of my workday. there was an email in the morning about the likely delays on UPS shipments due to a recent plane crash at their hub in Louisville. another shipment that arrived later in the day was some payroll envelopes, although it wasn't that many. and it took about a week to get a response to my request as i said i was getting low in supply.
