gift for me

i went to the library this afternoon to print some things. one of them was a gift card code from jc penney, as i have been answering their surveys. it says 'gift for you'. now it is a question of not just when i will use it, but what i will get with it. i also decided to file my income taxes electronically with h and r block as the w-2 just arrived on Saturday. this might be the earliest that i have filed, since it is usually not until February that the w-2 arrives. i like how i can file the federal and state tax returns for free, for a while it was only federal. but the printout, 10 pages in all when i wanted a copy of my tax forms, said it would be 3 weeks until the refund arrives. still less time than filing paper forms of course.
   this was a fairly leisurely day. i got out just after midday and got a can of spaghetti at the family dollar. then it was on to the library. after i got back i fell asleep in my easy chair for a while. the late local news was on late as the grammy awards ran over by a few minutes. one thing i did was go through my stamp collection, as i was thinking about it more after i added a few more postcards recently. i like merging two of my big interests, baseball and history. and i understand some of what i want to acquire is harder to find than others. there are currently 12 recipients of the president's medal of freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, that are connected to baseball. but looking through e-bay listings for postcards and first-day cover stamps i am aware of  'the path of least resistance' can be helpful. not just going for the most available, but also the cheaper ones.
