i went to a job fair at a hotel in Roseville this afternoon. there were some mints, so i decided to take a small box of them. it was for a job that i have already applied and interviewed for, so no need to do that again. i had hoped there was going to be more positions that they were actively looking for and planning to interview people onsite. i heard about it through a twitter posting. i was informed how i still have 34 active applications for this bank. it was hard to tell when looking at my own profile how many were still active. i am doing my best to keep track of it manually. i write them down on a master list when i have applied, so i can delete the email. and when i get an email saying 'not selected' or 'position canceled' i cross them off. the HR rep at this event said he would try to find who interviewed me and have them tell me why i was not selected. since i like learning what i can in order to do better at later interviews. although in some cases i figure out during the course of the interview that i wouldn't have wanted the job even if it was offered. this is why it was helpful to attend an interviewing seminar last month. as i do have the right to turn down something i won't enjoy doing. if i hear too many things that i just can't ignore.
my second interview got rescheduled a second time, found out the time i agreed to didn't work. i said i had to pause once i found this out. one thing i did today was watch some concert tragedy videos on YouTube, i wanted to find out more about the who concert in Cincinnati in 1979. i found out there was even a WKRP episode about it. in some ways i see why this show did an episode about it. not only did this show have a Cincinnati setting, it was about a radio station. but i also understood why at first they wanted to pass on the idea. the show was a comedy, and one has to be careful when covering serious issues like a stampede where 11 people died.
i performed at 3 venues tonight, and the final one was karaoke, where i did 'disarm' by smashing pumpkins. i had heard it on my car radio during my drive to the venue.
