it might no longer be accurate to say 'ringing off the hook', since so many people have cell phones now. but my phone sure rang a lot today related to jobs. one of them i requested that they email the job description to me, and they have not. one i knew would call me, it was the first call of the day. we had been playing phone tag for a few days. another was an interview offer, i asked that they change the time to afternoon as i already had one in the morning, for the next day. it is not just an issue of the logistics, but also emotionally wanting a gap between the two so i can devote myself to both on a high level. i would like to think this means there will be offers soon, but there aren't any just yet. a senior leader at my former office accepted a linked-in contact request and sent a message right away saying he was called as a reference, so i would like to think this is a good thing. i got the voicemail for my former boss, as i wanted the test the number he gave me.
i saw opera singer tonight at the clubs, for the first time in a while. i said i would like to see his band perform again soon. also saw the Wisconsin lady, she did a selfie with a fan that recognized her. i had hoped to perform at an open-mic tonight, but there was a schedule change. so i said i still needed to get stage time somewhere, and decided to do some karaoke. i did 3 songs. it was 'iko iko' by the belle stars, 'under the bridge' by red hot chili peppers, and 'learn to fly' by foo fighters. i had the movie 'rain man' in mind when i did the first one. the second i had wanted to do for a while, inspired by seeing others do it. and the third i recalled how i saw that band in concert with the chili peppers in 2000, in Indiana. i like how i am still finding some good ideas about what to sing.
