sales job webinar

at first, I was thrilled to have something to do in the morning related to work. I was invited to a webinar, saying the company was expanding in the area. then I find out it was for a sales job, and of course I am not interested in that line of work. I also went downtown and saw what temp agencies were hiring that I hadn't tried yet. one of them said they weren't accepting walk-ins and advised passer-bys to send an email. with another, their application period was ending for the day in a few minutes so I was sent home with paperwork to complete. I am trying really hard to get back to work and it still isn't achieving any results at all. I made calls to temp agencies I had already applied to and it yielded some leads, although one of them asked me to complete a data entry test and then said I wasn't fast enough. the client cares more about speed than accuracy.
in times like these, I am thankful I have performing to keep me busy in the evenings. it takes my mind off of all of the failures. although there is disappointment in this area as well. I finally found stage time on my third attempt. I expected to be turned away at the first venue, but not the second. I was told that too many people had signed up online, so I still wanted stage time, and went to a karaoke bar, a place I will go to usually once a month. I did three songs, and saw somebody I knew there. she is a singer, but I was surprised to find out she does karaoke. she sang 'lose yourself' by Eminem, which had meaning to me since that was my first-ever karaoke song. I sang 'someday someway' by marshall Crenshaw, 'heartbeat song' by Kelly Clarkson, and for some reason I can't think of the third right now. I know I liked hearing it at some burlesque shows I enjoyed attending.
another performer said my style of singing was like bob Dylan, but I don't see that one.
