sure thing movie

around midday i watched a DVD movie, 'sure thing'. i recognized john cusack, as well as tim robbins and anthony edwards, in it. this was a road movie, and it followed a storyline that many others do. two people that are opposites are thrown together. in this case it was two college students that are in the same english class, trying to get to los angeles from the east coast. there are scenes involving the act of 'shot gunning' a beer. and much like in 'planes trains and automobiles' there are multiple forms of transport that are used. the two do reach los angeles, their destination, wouldn't be much of a story if they didn't. and then the adventure becomes the subject of their writings in the class that they are both in. the movie was pretty decent, had its moments.

i ended up watching the pro football game once the movie was done, giants-bears, it was nearly halftime by then. i did a lot of 'fact finding' before then online so i got started late on watching the movie. the bears were leading 10-0 when i started watching and 17-0 at halftime. they held on to win 17-13, but it shouldn't have been that close. it came down to the final play, penalty called, but it was against the giants who were on offense. so the referee said 'by rule, the game is over'. it was masterful that the bears started running the ball a lot late in the game as it chewed up much of the clock. then i went on a walk and found 20 cents. when i got back it was nearing the end of another football game, chiefs-chargers. the chiefs kicked a field goal at the end of regulation and got another one in overtime to win. they had to kick the winner 3 times for it to count. first was a false start penalty, then the chargers called their final timeout. in the evening after eating, and watching 'the simpsons', a rerun at an italian festival, i called my college roommate. this is the one that works at the VA hospital in the area. he spoke of his son playing hockey.
