saw the Norwegian movie 'sentimental value' in Eagan in the afternoon. not a big deal to get over there during a snowstorm, just leave a little earlier and don't drive like a maniac. i had bought an advance ticket two days prior. a drawing card for me was knowing the professor from 'good will hunting', my favorite movie, would be in it. 'hunting' won two Oscars, i would like to think that 'value' is an Oscar contender as well. it did answer one long-dormant question for me, from a 'facts of life' episode. Tootie does a soliloquy and i had no idea what she meant about debating if she was an actress or a seagull. there was mention of 'the seagull' in this movie, and i found out this was a Chekhov play. i liked how the main character spoke about performing. 'Nowhere to hide, easier to be someone else than it is to be myself'. i can relate to that. i guess i did get one callback to 'hunting' in it as i heard that actor say 'failure' and it reminded me of what my dad once said how 'a person's voice usually doesn't change'. when i got home in the evening i worked some more on the jigsaw puzzle that i started on turkey day and finished it. three days is pretty decent when i was working on it by myself. it took longer than last year's, but it was a larger one even though it was the same number of pieces, five hundred.
