small pizza didn't scan

 in the evening i went to Hy-Vee in Eagan for my weekly grocery order. i got one item for free, a small pizza, as the barcode didn't scan. i knew this private label pizza is just a dollar, it is why i like getting them. but no complaint about getting it for free. also picked up a can opener. i use it twice a week at work on the tuna can, but lately i had to wash it before each use and it still wasn't cutting that well. there were plenty of hand-held can openers to choose from, i chose the simplest, lightest, and cheapest. i went to Walgreen in the morning for tea and cookies and sent a fed-ex envelope to a nearby box on that walk. i saw how the box said there was an earlier pick-up on the day after turkey day and i didn't want to forget about this outlier. i was getting impatient with the long line on the lower level of the store so i went to the skyway level, no line there. also picked up a 75th anniversary Charlie Brown puzzle book, or 'word seek', it had been advertised on Facebook lately. it was a low volume day on check printing, all of the regular mail checks fit into one tub. there weren't many overnights for UPS either, under twenty. half of them were from the newer Cincinnati file where the labels are created for me. there were two files with some overnights in them, but both were listed as 'awaiting approval' and no one approved them by the end of the day. i even notified them and the evidence is in the shared box. an employee from the home office showed up to pick up a check, in the morning. i wanted to order an event ticket but got a recording that mentioned Labor Day. it was at a university venue. i called their athletic ticket office and got a more recent recording that mentioned being open at venues and this told me they are still on holiday, just try again on Monday. i also checked our team's calendar to get ideas on when to use more vacation days in December. i chose three days when no one was listed as 'off', a big believer in the path of least resistance. vacation replacement also said avoid any days where one colleague in particular is off. i also decided to avoid two days where i had already signed up for food events sponsored by the building manager, on consecutive days in the middle of the month.
