sibley home

went to the the sibley home in mendota today, also the faribault home. enjoyed getting frybread there, tasted like elephant ears at the state fair. it's actually called the sibley site, since he was more famous, being the state's first governor and it's now a state-run facility. liked hearing the history of the DAR and WPA getting involved with fixing it up and preserving it. reminded me of how i wasn't all that familiar with the fur traders in the area, recalled hearing about john jacob astor and few others. it's nice that my date enjoys history much like i do.
we also went to the st. paul saints game, saints beat sioux falls 10-3. the game was in the evening, we went to the sibley site first. there was a grand slam in the first inning. it was opening weekend, the giveaway promotion was a metrodome whoopie cushion. it was kind of cool and windy there, light rain as well. she likes taking pictures of snoopy statues, i knew there was one at midway stadium where the saints play. it is now planted in the soil outside the gates, before it was beyond the gates near a wall with a little fence around it.
