I went to Brunswick zone in Eden Prairie for the final Roosevelt mentoring event of the year. Of course it was a day off from work in order to be there. I liked the bowling, but I didn't do the laser tag. I also had a beer after the students had left, as a way of thanking us mentors for all we have done. Notable was songs I heard while driving to and from the event. One was 'Tide is high' by Blondie, I still think of it as the song where I found courage since I didn't want to end up hating it. So the song has fond memories. The other was by Soul Coughing, I think it is called 'Walk around in circles'. This was after the event, seemed appropriate since there was plenty of traffic. I say this because some of the lyrics speak of languishing. It is relatable as I know I have languished at times, sad but true.
At the comedy club tonight, the show closer played a ukulele. I had to contend with a construction delay getting there, as there is a major construction project this weekend.
Also at the comedy club, Blind Side did ones about Bemidji and Saginaw, weathergirl, and Carlton from Fresh Prince. Duffel bag did ones about 4 options on body type, too fluffy, goofy imagery, Snickers bar in salad, and sister, computer, and therapist. Long Straw did ones about glow in dark board game, fashion not strong suit, avoid ridicule, dress like wallpaper, and cover of Little John song. Perkins did was brought on by the song 'Don't get me wrong' by the Pretenders, I like this song. He did ones about adult braces, saltwater aquarium and self esteem, he and mom had matching outfits, and give her candy and chase her. Extra murder did ones about yours has a comma, cop walk into a door, wife had cancer, waiting for surgeon, love is a catheter bag, old people in hospital, lights out, and I can drive. Bus fare did ones about Air Bud, moving, being closer to therapist, making himself cry, super Grover, lady bully a Chipotle employee, light bondage and nightmare, and before Christmas. Fever comic did ones about a flashlight, born premature, touch football with pads, helps sick kids feel better, and how many G's on your phone. Red-faced comic will now be known as Stillwater, after his native city. He did ones about heroin addict babysitter, brunch on weekends, show me breakfast soup, 2pm, and circumcised. Wisconsin guy did ones about rollerblading and physical education, Vicky's Secret panties, hot like Kraft singles, 5 squirrel tails in circle, horse jockey and sumo wrestler, donated undies, how to build a deck, and peanut allergies. School bouncer did ones about Bruce Jenner, dude to diva, double dip, became a Kardashian, Japanese porn, noble people, and before stop number 7. The taller of the brothers did ones about taking Tums, audition for a band, a kazoo, and wedding photographer. Fish noodle did ones about a high school prom lock-in, hair shaved by friends, thinking about 'Mad Max', baby on bus, and eardrum terrorist. Woody did ones about a Christian cover band, doing Slayer songs, and wanted to feed one bird.
